I stopped and approached the person and asked if the bike was for sale. Yes it was. He quoted a price which was workable but being day before payday I didn’t have any cash in my pocket. I told him I’d be right back as I had the cash at home. Raced home grabbed the stash and made my way back. As I pulled up I saw the bike being loaded into a van. Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials 2023, FIM Land Speed World Records and AMA Land Speed Grand Championship is Cancelled. Our assessment team has reviewed current Bonneville Salt Flat conditions since remnants of Hurricane Hilary and related storm systems delivered significant rain on the Bonneville Salt Flats during the past 24 hours. Although there is wind, it is not drying the area and is instead pushing the water around, making multiple small moving lakes to contend with. The mobile lakes are now making “high ground” a moving target to support track preparation, necessary repairs, and safe operations for all of our racers in time for the event to proceed. In the 450SX Class, Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo rivaled for podium contention throughout the race before securing a fourth-place finish. In the 250SX Class, Monster Energy®/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Jo Shimoda earned an impressive fourth-place result while his teammates Carson Mumford and Chris Blose followed in 10th and 12th, respectively. Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo arrived at the Monster Energy® Supercross Finale with podium momentum at his back. The No.9 KX™450SR rider matched the impressive pace he has displayed in recent weeks as he attacked the track from the time his tires touched the dirt. Through the opening sessions, Cianciarulo quickly found his rhythm and asserted himself near the top of the leaderboard. Following “hot” on the heals of a brutally cold Friday night session on Rice Lake, an unseasonably warm Wisconsin has forced the STM Powersports Snow Outlaws series to cancel their second round of 2023. Originally scheduled for February 17-18 on Sarona’s Long Lake, bad ice there had Snow Outlaws planning a return engagement at Rice Lake. But even that is off the table as warm, sunny days are thinning Rice Lake’s ice and producing no new snow. So the world’s quickest nitro, alcohol, supercharged and turbocharged sleds and the teams that race them will have to wait until March 3-4 and the Weenie Roast World Finals at Lakewoods Resort in Cable, Wisconsin. Pro Outlaw, Pro Xtreme 55, and Pro Mods will all converge for the legendary Weenie Roast festival for high speed thrills and late night swills. The 2023 Dakar Rally’s final stage 14 was won by Kevin Benavides, who outpaced Toby Price by 43 seconds to win the overall bike title. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider won the final two stages on his 450 Rally Factory to move up from third to first and win his second Dakar Rally championship. The Argentine, placed second in the first stage, dropped to fourth overall in stage two but managed to maintain his podium position during the following 12 stages with impressive consistency. On a Honda, Benavides finished the 136-kilometre-long special ahead of Price in second place by 55 seconds. Benavides had also won the 2021 Dakar Rally. The American, Skyler Howes of Husqvarna Factory Racing, was placed third overall with a fifth in the last stage, five minutes and four seconds behind Benavides. After nearly 44 hours and 30 minutes and 5,000 kilometres of racing against the clock, the winning margin was less than a minute. Price had a 12-second lead going into the last stage and almost missed his third Dakar Rally bike title, but he gave credit to teammate, Benavides. In his fourth start in the famous off-road rally raid competition, Howes earned his maiden podium finish. After six stages, this St George (Utah) native was in the lead overall. Ice Speedway Berlin Is Back On The Racing Calendar In March, 2023 It’s been three long years, but in 2023, Ice Speedway Berlin is back on the international racing calendar. If you’ll be in Berlin, Germany, on March 3 and 4, 2023, and you’re interested in taking in some of the best ice speedway racers from Germany and beyond doing their thing, then you’ll probably want to get your hands on some tickets. The last Ice Speedway Berlin took place from February 27 through March 1, 2020, and was one of the final major motorsport events prior to global pandemic-related shutdowns. If you’re unfamiliar with the sport, we wholeheartedly recommend that you check out this video, which was taken during day two of the 2020 Ice Speedway Berlin event. The 48th Ice Speedway Berlin event in 2023 will be a bit different from what’s gone before. After the bad luck of the past few years, everyone was hopeful that a normal Ice Speedway event in Berlin would be able to happen in 2022. However, problems arose with machinery related to maintaining the ice surface of the track, and a 2022 event was not able to go forward. After that issue was solved, though, another one popped up to take its place. Due to a breakdown in discussions between event organizers and the FIM, for the first time, the Ice Speedway Berlin event will have neither European Championship nor World Cup status.
