The Henderson Motorcycle travelled from Los Angeles to New York City.

The Henderson suffered just one flat tire, went through three sets of Champion spark plugs and used three Duckworth chains.

On August 26, in 1917, Alan Bedell left Los Angeles, California on his Henderson motorcycle arriving in New York City (3,296 miles) in seven days, sixteen hours and fifteen minutes later, breaking the record set by “Cannonball” Baker on an Indian Twin.

Bandit’s Cantina: Episode 95

By General Posts

Change is in the Wind
By K. Randall Ball

Bandit couldn’t wait to peel back to the Cantina. He had a ton on his mind, but the ride felt good. The bike and his mental load lifted without the yipping Melody around, but there was way more.

The highway up the Grape Vine blistered with heat but contained mild traffic. He leaned through the curves as if he floated on air unincumbered by the world around him.

Velocity Stack and Palm Springs ’74

By General Posts

By Bandit with photos from Sam Burns Collection

I’ve never been a fan of velocity stacks. One, I was just a hardworking sort and couldn’t afford top end jobs every year. I tried to build shit that was fast but would hang together.

At the time I wore my greasy Levi’s every day, until they shinned. I couldn’t afford a motorcycle jacket, so I used an old parka and put a rough leather welding jacket over it. I dyed it black and sewed a set of Harley wings on the back. I wore gauntlet leather welding gloves, which I also died black. My hair was long sandy and wavy, and I had a full beard.

Pre-Rally Week Bikernet Weekly News for July 29, 2021

By General Posts

Hey,

The rally is starting next week and at the last minute we are buying a Bikernet Billboard in Sturgis. It’s another project, but what the fuck.

We are working with Markus Cuff on a Petersen Museum motorcycle exhibit featuring long distance motorcycles. Some wild bikes.

I’ll sign books for donations to Kid’s Ride at the Builder’s Breakfast coming up next weekend.

Never stop or slow down and always fight for the freedom to ride fast and free.

Paradise Bikernet Weekly News for July 15th, 2021

By General Posts

Thursdays are often wild days. Thursdays are tough since I’m trying to focus on the news. Brothers are calling about Sturgis plans, which are ever-changing.

We are working with Markus Cuff on a feature around a new whacky Petersen Museum Exhibit on long distance travelers.

I’m working on a report about stolen motorcycle stories. I was thinking about a fictional series, but I may just post the real stories. There are lessons in each one.

In the meantime, remember to ride free. We are living in the best of times.
