Save Our Shops!

The independent and aftermarket motorcycling industry is endangered. Shops, builders, parts makers – every aspect of the industry is being threatened by regulatory lockdown. Dealers won’t work on bikes over ten (10) years old, but manufacturers won’t let anyone other than dealers work on the bikes. Motorcycling legend Bob Kay is speaking out for the Independent Motorcycle Aftermarket (IMA). The IMA is collaborating with the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) to save this industry, which supports the biker culture throughout the US. Watch the video and hear Bob Kay in his own words! Do you know an independent shop owner? Share this email with them and tell them about the IMA and MRF. Together, we can save our Right to Repair and the aftermarket industry. Nitro Funnybikes make all the noise of Top Fuel with fewer cubes and no transmission. Champion Jim Doyle, Bad Apple Racing’s Cameron Gunter, 2X-for-2024 runner-up Jason Leeper, and more will fling their Nitro Funnybikes down the Martin 1320 for your thrills and grins. Hawaya Racing Pro Fuel are smaller still and carbureted, but fill the air with nitro power, smell and noise. Champion Sam White started his title defense with a win in Louisiana but has stumbled the last two races. He’ll face Cecil County winner “Bad Apple Mary”

“That” Build: VLXAFL-5 Build Series Part 8

Almost ready to Wire and Fire A labor of love report from Bandit with photos by the Redhead and Weed “Hang on! My alignment issues through the driveline weren’t over. I even had an issue with the front wheel alignment. This tech may jump around some, but you’ll get it. At least the transmission was in place securely and I could Flex seal the oil tank mount and install the oil tank, run the oil lines, attach the oil filter mount, make a front chain guard, make a kickstand stop, find the pieces for a clutch throw-out bearing, make the proper length pushrod, order a clutch cable from Barnett and almost forget the code for clutch adjustment.” ~~~Bandit Click here to read this custom build update with photos and more only at Bikernet.com * * * * Get all the metal and mechanics to fill your garage with new projects only at Bikernet.com FREE DEPARTMENTS — click here https://blog.bikernet.com/department/bike-builds/

100 WFC: What’s It Gonna Be

What’s It Gonna Be by Keith ‘Bandit’ Ball with illustration by Wayfarer Jake at 6 feet and buffed pulled up to the log cabin saloon off Highway 25, in CO on his highbar 80 flathead. No other bikes in the lot, only SUVs. He ordered a 3-2-1 Jack from blonde and bodacious. Her eyes sparkled but darted with concern. Suddenly surrounded by a young crew in camos, they snarled and brandished weapons. “Your loud pipes are done. It’s a climate emergency!” Said big and fuzzy. “What’s it gonna be?” Jake asked. “Freedom and Truth or a lying piece-of-shit dictatorship.” Fuzzy hesitated and gulped. “Bring it on,” Jake said. “Bikers are ready.” (publication dated 22-May-2024) * * * Read all about this 100 word mania at the contest page—click here https://www.bikernet.com/pages/Bikernet_100_Word_Fiction_Contest_2024.aspx

Softail Forward Controls

Rider’s Report by Christy After I rode my Softail Standard that has mid controls for a few weeks I was feeling cramped, and my legs weren’t comfortable. I have long legs and having to be able to stretch them out while cruising is very relaxing to me. When I rode my Sportster years ago, I had forward controls. Once I got use to that feeling of extending my legs, not extending them, I felt cramped and uncomfortable while riding. The Wicked Bikernet Weekly News for May 2, 2024

It’s tough to hold the line with two property deals floating. On the other hand, everything rides on the decisions I make. I’m an optimist, but I search out the reality of the situation. I’m 76, do I really want to dive into a 100 year old building that needs to be refurbished, or would I rather work hard on the museum efforts, continue to write stories, build motorcycles, write books and make another stab at Bonneville? WTF? Hang on. Let’s hit the news. Click here to read the Weekly Thursday News only on Bikernet.com * * * * Support Bikernet by joining the Cantina and get free swag.
