Scrambled Bikernet Weekly News for September 17, 2020

By General Posts

We’re Headed in Lots of Directions

Hey,

It’s a quirky day. I’ve got deals and wheels stuff happening all around me. A brother’s house burnt down in the northern California fires. Another brother, Bill Dodge, is in the hospital fighting motorcycle injuries (you’ll see the report in the news).

I’m scrambling to save and make more money in trying times and I would like to head back to Deadwood. On the active front, I have most of the pieces to finish the fender mounts on the Salt Torpedo. I started to write the 90th Episode of the Cantina Series and sorta like it. I’m playing with the Covid, homelessness and much of the bullshit society is struggling with right now.

Sam Burns sent me more encouraging photos of bikes and girls. Maybe it’s a hint to write more about the story line of my life. I’m still struggling with it. And I’m about to start another chapter of the third Chance Hogan books. Plus, Gary Mraz stopped by and stayed for a week. He is writing a series of books about the Midnight Rider or the Midnight Writer or Zac or Zachary, he can’t decide.

So, what does all of this tell you? I told Bob Bitchin that he’s about to start a new adventure after his beautiful Berry Creek mansion burnt down. I like to think motorcycles and freedom are at the heart of everything I do. And finally, there are so many wonderful things in life to do. Just smile and go after them. But do it with grace and style, compassion and benevolence. Let’s hit the news.

Whacky Bikernet Weekly News for July 7th, 2020

By General Posts

We are Living in the Best of Times

Hey,

I had a blast in Sturgis. I was tested two days ago, and I have never been contacted by the Chinese Covid. I was much more likely to get it if I stayed in LA. But they seem to leave that side of the equation out. The odds of getting covid from a rally rider is 1 in 1,200,000. Supposedly 700 become infected every day in LA. Only 250 got infected somewhere (maybe not in Sturgis) during the Rally period, like three weeks. Daily you have a 1 in 17,462 chance of catching it every day in LA.

Freedom and Motorcycles Work, but some folks can’t stand it.

Sam’s Picks for the Week of September 7, 2020

With a Bandit’s Life Test Story Line

Hey,

This is a test with Sam’s Picks of the Week as a backdrop. I’ve been bugged about a book about my life. But my life is checkered with ups and down and violent does and don’ts. So, this is sort of an attempt at an outline or rough story line. There won’t be a lot of description, just brief reflections on events.

Freedom Rally Bikernet Weekly News for August 27th, 2020

By General Posts

Freedom Works with News from all over the Industry and World

Hey,

Life is amazing. During the Sturgis Rally one, that’s 1 case of Wuhan or China Virus was discovered and only 33 surfaced in the state since the beginning or August. Now it’s the 26th and CNN is screaming outbreak from Sturgis Rally because they are claiming 70 cases showed up around the country. They admitted, 450,000 attended the rally. Hell, the folks who came down with it could have been anywhere from Texas to Oregon.

I spoke to Dr. Hamster, our expert in the field of riding, “Out of 450,000, that is statistically an insignificant number. One also has to remember that those 70 people could’ve gotten infected anywhere on the trip or if they stayed at home?”

Born To Ride Reviewed Again

By General Posts

Where to start? Let’s start with saying this is another failed attempt to emulate Easy Rider but with a supposed humorous twist. Two bikers getting ready to head off to Sturgis, but they get side-tracked when one of them tries to save a dude being robbed by a couple punks, or as Keith Ball (as himself) playing a reporter, calls them, “Goons.”

New Bagger Market Revealed Bikernet Weekly News for July 30, 2020

By General Posts

INCREDIBLE—I have one major question and maybe I know the answer. I keep saying that we’re living in the best of times. That takes an historic prospective. If you lived 100 years ago, you would immediately nod your head in agreement. You would have felt the suffering from WWI, the Spanish Flu, you name it. Hell, during the Civil War and there were no antibiotics and few pain killers. In most areas there wasn’t electricity.

In many areas there were no sewers or running water. Okay, so now we are so damn lucky to have so much at our fingertips. We can travel the world quickly, have cars that do everything for us and phones capable of answering anything, entertaining, you name it. So, why do folks want to be pissed off about bullshit, or stuff that happened 200 years ago? Why do politicians want to take your cars and motorcycles away?

Fuck it, just go for a ride. Some folks have a tough time with Freedom. They just can’t let go.

Bikers get it. Let’s continue to ride fast and free.

The Travelers Bikernet Weekly News for July 23, 2020

By General Posts

Alerts and News that Will Blow Your Mind!

Hey,

This coming week is going to be a strange one. I know the whole world is trying to grapple with this Covid mess, while I hide out in the Badlands surrounded by peace and nirvana, deer and pine trees.

We are still two weeks from the rally, but tourist and bikers are everywhere. This morning five of our bikes are being delivered to the Bikernet Covid Hide-Out in the Badlands by Haul Bikes. I’ve got the shop set up and ready for minor repairs and already have a brazing project on the bench, maybe two.

Every day is exciting when it involves motorcycles. My grandson is trying to coerce a couple of buddies to ride from LA to Sturgis to escape the madness and mayhem. It’s interesting. When we need fresh air, fresh outlooks, or new adventures, just mount up and ride. Let’s hit the news.

Great News Bikernet Weekly News for July 16, 2020

By General Posts

It’s all What We Make of It!

Hey,
Life is amazing.
We’re in the middle of a Pandemic and J&P had their best single day sales record in the history of the company. And now J&P is owned by another company.

Get this, boat sales have gone through the roof. It’s one way a family can play together and not run into nasty crowds. One manufacturer launched their new models way before the end of the year.

Motorcycles have a similar blessing, that’s why Rich is having a banner year at American Biker in Charleston, SC, and Junior, at Lifestyle Cycles in SoCal is kicking ass in Orange County, California. It’s about embracing what’s available. A brother has an event magazine. No events, no business, but that’s not the case. He’s going to start covering underground events. He’s also going to interview big event promoters about their struggle and what they need.

Hell, Scott Jacobs was making bank on Cruise line art auctions. That’s gone for now, but Scott, Sharon and their daughters opened a brewery restaurant and bakery in Deadwood and they are kicking ass. There doesn’t seem to be any Covid around here. It’s amazing.

Cruise ships don’t need to set idle. Hell, one cruise ship could hold three separated conventions at the same time and stay in dock. Safety measures on one of those massive ships could be a breeze because of the compartments. Everything would be completely contained.

But riding is the best. Feel free, in the wind and social distancing is not a problem at 90mph.

Let’s hit the news:
