Zero introduces bold new SR/F Electric Streetfighter

Zero launched a new SR/F streetfighter in Amsterdam, which claims to deliver an attractive blend of “industry-leading power, control and connection.” It is a tangible improvement in range capability and recharging time, along with new styling that brings its electric powertrain with sharp and conventional – naked streetfighter looks. The Californian brand leaps forward making electric motorcycles look and perform in a way more appealing to both new and largely electric-phobic existing bikers. Vice President of Product Development, Brian Wismann, said: “The bike was inspired and influenced by the same things that inspire designers that are working on internal combustion bikes. “I don’t want anybody to think that this was meant to look like an electric Ducati, or Triumph – it’s not a derivative design, but having an understanding of where this cultural reference for having beautiful machines comes from and then integrating some of those design elements into the SR/F are pertinent in describing why it looks as good as it does.” New Zero SR/F specs 200-mile range potential One-hour charge to 95% Makes 110bhp / 140lbft Two models available in May Weight is 226kg Zero’s new SR/F has the power and charm to attract regular street racers. The torque makes this a serious streetfighter. The model uses Zero’s new ZF75-10 motor, coupled to a ZF14.4 lithium-ion battery. The powertrain uses air-cooling to improve longevity. It eliminates many routine maintenance jobs. A single charge is claimed to have the potential to deliver a 200-mile maximum range when ridden at town speeds, using Zero’s Power Tank, which arrives in Autumn 2019. The innovative Rapid Charge System works on the large and growing network of Level 2 charge stations and provides a platform that allows for up to three independent charging modules. This means the SR/F can boast the fastest recharge […]

No silver bullet in sight for Enfield hit by sliding volume

The Eicher Motors stock fell 30 per cent in the past year. The Bullet, it appears, is just not firing on all cylinders at the moment. Royal Enfield (RE) sales are rather soft, and state-wise volume statistics furnished by industry body SIAM show that the bike that defines panache for motorcycle enthusiasts in India is riding through a rather rough patch. Eight states that make up three of every five RE bikes sold locally have reported deceleration. Maharashtra and Karnataka together account for 13 per cent of RE volumes, and these two states have seen a drop in 6-7 quarters of the past nine. Kerala, the largest market of RE, has witnessed volume drops of 13 per cent and 23 per cent in the September and December quarters, respectively. The September decline is attributed to floods. But declines in the December quarter have put the lens on underlying demand. Industry volume growth of twowheelers in south India was 9.5 per cent in the first nine months, up from 5.6 per cent in the previous year. However, RE’s sales volume growth in the Southern states has been underwhelming. The RE management has given production guidance of 8.7-8.8 lakh units for the current fiscal year. However, it is unlikely to be met. Average monthly run-rate of RE in the first 11months of FY19 stood at 69,569 units. To achieve the stated guidance, the company needs to produce 1.04 lakh vehicles in March. This appears to be quite a daunting task given the weak demand cycle. The Street is factoring in volume growth of 10 per cent for FY20, which could be trimmed due to about 3 per cent growth in FY19. The Eicher Motors stock fell 30 per cent in the past year following constant negative surprises on the volume front. The

Top Electric Motorcycles For 2017

Challenges have popped to the surface regarding electric vehicles. They might be more emission prone than petrol based vehicles. Batteries are nasty. We will see. The world is fast changing. No, not Governments and definitely those Senators never leave or change. While the more Hollywood movies change, the more they remain the same. Generations change and the new millennials have different priorities and preferences. Climate is supposedly (“allegedly”) changing. Demand and Supply of big bikes have changed. There are again more British motorcycle brands in the market than American bikes with the return of Enfield, BSA, Norton and the veteran Triumph. Roads have changed with new taxes tolls on rush hour routes. The year has changed to 2018. My underwear has changed from boxers to briefs. Bikernet.com has changed and become mobile friendly. Last year, Germany voted to ban the internal combustion engine by year 2030, and this just this year the UK government announced plans to ban the sales of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2040. China is leading the way with maximum ownership of electric vehicles in the world. But the future is bright. In the four-wheel world Elon Musk is leading the way with his innovative Tesla brand, and over here in the two-wheel world there are a host of different manufacturers all looking to the future. Merry Fiction: Hogging Santa

Hogging Santa We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Santa Claus finds joy and contentment in modern society with a Harley, Faith, Hope and Charity. All right! Something to do this weekend and it involves riding my hog to L.A., I could guarantee the tug-o-war victory – just wrap the rope around me – they would need a cavalry to drag me. I stuffed a backpack with essentials and went to my garage to dust off my 20 year-old H-D. Checking everything on the two-wheels I locked up the house and kicked the beast. Difficult even to lift my leg to kick-start with my belly bothering us – he has to push himself into everything. I parked on the side-stand and stood to my 6’2” height. I held the throttle with two fingers and kicked, the hog roared to life. Sitting on it now I paced onto the street to its beat – good vibrations – ’70s charm seemed to be feeding itself into me. ‘Justice League’ scrapped Batman Motorcycle Design Revealed

Batman has some cool vehicles in Justice League and while the Batmobile and the Flying Fox get some much-deserved screen time in the film, the Dark Knight could have had an awesome motorcycle, too. Justice League production designer Patrick Tatopoulos shared a few sketches on his personal Instagram earlier today of a concept he had for a Batbike. You can check out the post below. The idea of Batman having an elaborate and unique-looking bike isn’t new. In 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, Batman had an epic if not unusual motorcycle that the rider practically had to lay on in order to and operated on two, very wide tires. It also had some pretty cool tricks, but it lacked an overall “Batman” look to it. Tatopoulos’s design remedies that by giving the motorcycle a distinctive and angular feel with lots of references to the shape of bat wings. The top sketch even has a seat that looks strikingly like the bat symbol or a batarang, and while the sketches don’t show wheels, the whole vehicle appears to have smaller profile which would give it dexterity for whatever chase Batman is on. It looks like there’s plenty of places for neat tools and weapons to be tucked away. It also looks like it would fit in nicely on the Flying Fox which itself is a unique vehicle. Tatopoulos recently shared concept art for the plane with the LA Times, revealing that some simple changes to the aircraft’s design had given it a look closer to that of Batman’s Batmobile, specifically by moving the placement of the cockpit. “That little movement made it special,” Tatopoulos said. “It started to make it more like the Batmobile.” However, it doesn’t appear that this Batbike is going to be parked next the Batmobile or part
