0 Units Of Harley Davidson Street 750 Sold In Feb 2019

By | General Posts

Harley Davidson was not able to sell even a single unit of their popular entry-level model in India during the month of February 2019 Harley Davidson’s Street 750 posted its worst sales number ever in the month of February 2019. The renowned American cruiser manufacturer was not able to sell 0 units of their entry level-offering Street 750 in the month of February 2019 and saw a 100 per cent drop in the YOY sales report.

Not only that, the HD Street Rod also did not get a single buyer during the same month. The Royal Enfield 650 twins’ popularity could be one of the main reasons for their decline in sales number. The Royal Enfield 650 twins are the cheapest twin cylinder motorcycle available in the market today and they offer the same amount of power and torque at almost half the price.

The price of the Harley Davidson Street 750 starts at around Rs 5.57 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the vivid black colour. The owners will have to spend an additional Rs 10,000 if they want to get their hands on any other single tone colour. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Interceptor price starts at Rs 2.50 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base variant and Rs 2.58 Lakhs for the dual tone and Rs 2.70 lakhs for the chrome shade.

The most expensive model which is the Continental GT 650 Chrome will cost you only Rs. 2.85 lakhs (ex-showroom). Just like the Street 750, the higher price is also the reason why the Street Rod too saw a massive drop in its sales number.

The Harley Davidson Street Rod is also priced at around Rs. 6.55 Lakhs (ex-showroom) while the buyers will have to spend Rs 6.81 Lakhs (ex-showroom) for the dual tone shade. If we compare their powertrains, both the Street 750 and the Street Rod 750 are powered by the same 749cc, High Output Revolution X V-Twin engine that produces around 47 bhp of peak power and 62 Nm of peak torque output at 4,000 rpm.

The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The 650 twins, on the other hand, is powered by a 648cc, twin cylinder motor that produces around 47 bhp of peak power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox as well with slip assist clutch as standard.

Harley-Davidson and the Motorcycle Arts Foundation Announce the Opening of Electric Revolution, the World’s First Museum Exhibit Exclusively Featuring Electric Motorcycles, opening April 6, 2019 at Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, March 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — The Motorcycle Arts Foundation (MAF) and Harley-Davidson announced today the opening of Electric Revolution, the world’s first museum exhibition exclusively featuring electric motorcycles. This exhibit, which is supported by Harley-Davidson, will open at the Richard Varner Family Gallery at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California on April 6, 2019. Curated by MAF co-founder Paul d’Orléans, the exhibit will explore the history and current state of the electric motorcycle and e-bike industry with 21 examples of 2-wheeled electric vehicles from both custom builders and established manufacturers.

Zero-emission vehicles have become a prominent part of the transportation landscape, and electric motorcycles and e-bikes are one of the fastest growing sectors in this quickly evolving market. The exhibit assembles a dynamic mix of production, racing, prototype and custom electric motorcycles from world renowned manufacturers and builders in the EV space including Harley-Davidson, CAKE, Specialized Bicycle Components, Roland Sands Design, Curtiss Motorcycles, Alta Motors, Joey Ruiter, and Noel Connolly.

Harley-Davidson is the lead sponsor for this exhibit and has provided three recent prototypes from their electric portfolio, including the 2020 LiveWire, which will be available to the public in Fall 2019.

“We are creating history with the world’s first exhibition of any type to feature two-wheeled electric vehicles exclusively,” states curator Paul d’Orléans. “The electric motorcycle industry is exploding with new players investing in an electric future, and this exhibit will showcase contemporary manufacturers as the trail blazers of the industry and pay homage to electric pioneers.”

“We are thrilled to support the Motorcycle Arts Foundation and participate in the Electric Revolution exhibition at the Petersen Automotive Museum,” states Harley-Davidson Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand Heather Malenshek. “Harley-Davidson is at the forefront of the changing consumer landscape within motorcycles and we are excited to showcase our halo product, LiveWire, within the powerful narrative this exhibit presents to the public.”

The MAF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and distribution of motorcycle arts. Electric Revolution will be the second major public project for the foundation. Electric Revolution is produced by the Motorcycle Arts Foundation and Sasha Tcherevkoff.

The opening night VIP and press reception will be held on April 4, 2019 from 6:30-10pm. The event will be attended by the world’s most talented builders, designers, and thought leaders in the electric vehicle industry. The Legacy of Arlen Ness – an Obituary

By | General Posts

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Arlen Ness the visionary, loving husband, father, grandfather and leader of our family passed away last night March 22, 2019. Arlen passed away comfortably in his home surrounded by loved ones after the most creative and inspirational life anyone could imagine.

The most important things in Arlen’s life were his wife of 59 years Beverly, his children, grandchildren, friends and motorcycles. Arlen once said that “Motorcycling has been a great ride…my whole life since I’ve been motorcycling has been wonderful. I’ve met so many nice people. Friends all over the world. We can go almost anyplace and stay with friends. It’s been great.” With few words Arlen conveyed his priorities every day, family and friends.

Everyone who knew Arlen respects him for his achievements and for who he was as a person, both of which are superlatives. The respect is how Arlen came to deserve the commonly spoken nickname “The King of Custom Motorcycles”. Arlen rarely reflected on his own success. He never planned for it, this is because what he achieved had never been done before; it had never been dreamt of.

Arlen has touched the lives of his family, the Arlen Ness team and thousands of others around the world with his genuine character. Arlen’s family will announce a memorial service and celebration of life after some private time, and appreciate your understanding. Arlen’s family thank you for your respects and condolences.

Although the Ness family cannot put their loss into words, they can look up and smile knowing Arlen has done something that few men do in a lifetime of trying. He has inspired.

A true gentleman, a one-of-a-kind visionary and one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. You will be missed, Arlen.

Arlen Darryl Ness (July 12, 1939 – March 22, 2019) was an American motorcycle designer and entrepreneur best known for his custom motorcycles. Ness received acclaim for his designs, most of which are noted for their unique body style and paintwork.

Arlen Darryl Ness was born in Moorhead, Minnesota on July 12, 1939 to Elaine and Ervin Ness, and moved to San Leandro, California when he was in the sixth grade.

Prior to his career as a motorcycle builder, Arlen worked as a pin setter at the local bowling alley, and later as a post office worker and furniture mover. Ness also competed in semi-professional bowling leagues, the earnings of which he used to buy his first motorcycle, a 1947 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead that he later customized.

Ness was married to his wife Beverly for 59 years until his death.

His first customs were made in the garage of his home in San Leandro, California, but by the early 1970s he had moved to a storefront on East 14th Street.

Ness was recognized for his unique painting style and for developing a line of custom motorcycle parts. His popularity grew as he built new custom bikes and then had those displayed on the bike show circuit and featured in motorcycle magazines.

After more than three decades of custom bike building, his business, Arlen Ness Motorcycles, moved to a Dublin, California facility that includes a museum featuring more than 40 of his custom motorcycles. The museum displays his Untouchable, the twin motor Two Bad, the antique inspired Ness-Tique, Blower Bike, the Italian sports car inspired Ferrari Bike, the ’57 Chevy inspired Ness-Stalgia, the Bugatti-like Smooth-Ness, the Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off bike Top Banana, and his jet-powered Mach Ness. The company is also an authorized dealership for Victory Motorcycles and for Indian Motorcycles.

Ness has received recognition and awards including Builder of the Year, induction into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Arlen Ness Inc. is completely owned and operated by a family and is the only motorcycle business, that houses 3 generations with the same last name in it. At the moment, Arlen Ness brand offers products for V-twin engines and motorcycle gear. The Arlen Ness museum and showroom are located in Dublin, California.

Ness received a patent for the Big Shot, a method of altering the motorcycle’s fuel injection system, and thereby enhancing a motorcycle’s performance.

Arlen Ness died on March 22, 2019 at the age of 79.
