FREE STYLE WINNER GOES TO GERMANY FOR THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AMD Free Style Class Anything goes, 2 or 3 wheel drivetrain/chassis motorcycle configuration as defined by the DMV. The only limitation is the builder’s imagination and resources. This class is for those who want the chance for the opportunity to compete in AMD World Championship in Cologne, Germany. It is the direct path to the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building in Cologne, Germany to Intermot to challenge the best builders in the world. $50 registration fee includes two passes to the entire weekend’s events and concerts Winner gets $2000 on sight plus another $8000 expense when they show at the 2020 AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building. Trophies to 5th Place Garage Builders Open Class This class is for fabricators that wish to show to promote their business rather compete. Registration fee includes a 10×10 outdoor booth for Builder’s businesses. You know me, I can’t sit still and talk about old times when we’re burnin’ daylight. I had to monkey with the Torpedo exhaust system again. The turn-out was going to be an issue. Micah and I got together on Monday and hammered at the firewall. We had a long discussion with Drew, who is a Bonneville AMA, and FIM tech. We kicked around the massive fire suppression bottles and whether we need two or one for both compartments. Harley-Davidson Teams with Local Trade Schools for ‘Battle of the Kings’ Bike Build Competition MILWAUKEE (April 15, 2019) – For the first time, local trade school students partnered with Harley-Davidson® dealers for a unique, real-world training opportunity: helping build the coolest custom motorcycles in the world in the “Battle of the Kings” competition.  Now, Harley-Davidson is calling on the public to help select the winner by voting for their favorites from April 15 to May 15 at H-D.com/BattleOfTheKings. The “Battle of the Kings” competition highlights the endless possibilities to personalize Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It’s the largest dealer custom build bike competition in the world, showcasing Harley-Davidson’s leadership in customization. Since 2015, Battle of the Kings has created more than 500 custom bikes. It’s All Based Around Creative Freedom and the Chopper Gods. Imagine if the concept of life changed dramatically. With the advent of scienctific discoveries and studies, everything is changing rapidly regarding religion, philosophy and nature. It always blows me away, the more I learn the more motorcycling, custom motorcycling and choppers become pure bastions of freedom. According to science we are born, go through the process of growing, living, loving and dying. Simple as that. We are no more than a blossoming flower in your garden. Life comes and then it goes. Ah, but there’s so much more to our lives and what we make of them. Every day we can conjure up our next ride, our next chopper, our next girlfriend (or boyfriend), or our next adventure. Fortunately, we’re around for many seasons, so our opportunities for creative and adventuresome expansion are many fold. So, take advantage of every fucking season you have, ‘cause when you’re gone, you’re gone. Let’s hit the news and ponder the meaning of life. The Legacy of Arlen Ness – an Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Arlen Ness the visionary, loving husband, father, grandfather and leader of our family passed away last night March 22, 2019. Arlen passed away comfortably in his home surrounded by loved ones after the most creative and inspirational life anyone could imagine. The most important things in Arlen’s life were his wife of 59 years Beverly, his children, grandchildren, friends and motorcycles. Arlen once said that “Motorcycling has been a great ride…my whole life since I’ve been motorcycling has been wonderful. I’ve met so many nice people. Friends all over the world. We can go almost anyplace and stay with friends. It’s been great.” With few words Arlen conveyed his priorities every day, family and friends. Everyone who knew Arlen respects him for his achievements and for who he was as a person, both of which are superlatives. The respect is how Arlen came to deserve the commonly spoken nickname “The King of Custom Motorcycles”. Arlen rarely reflected on his own success. He never planned for it, this is because what he achieved had never been done before; it had never been dreamt of. Arlen has touched the lives of his family, the Arlen Ness team and thousands of others around the world with his genuine character. Arlen’s family will announce a memorial service and celebration of life after some private time, and appreciate your understanding. Arlen’s family thank you for your respects and condolences. Although the Ness family cannot put their loss into words, they can look up and smile knowing Arlen has done something that few men do in a lifetime of trying. He has inspired. Honda Unveils Custom Gold Wing at Daytona Bike Week

RiderMagazine.com Reports – Honda unveiled a custom Gold Wing at Daytona Bike Week, dubbed “Cool Wing” built by Kevin Dunn, Duy Nguyen, Jimmy Chen and Ray Tong, of Southern California’s Steady Garage. The design challenge was to create something that was stylish but without straying too far from functionality. Following an extensive draft process, designer Francis Clemente came up with a design that could stimulate both customizers and purists. Air suspension and batique-style mufflers were examples of elements that were key to creating the build’s silhouette, but a handcrafted leather saddle, bare metal details and scallops in the paint brought the Cool Wing to life. Mooneyes built a mold specifically for the project in order to make the disc covers for the Gold Wing front rim, while Platinum Air Suspension provided air shocks to help achieve the slammed stance without sacrificing the ride height. The onboard air is stored on two Dirty Work stainless steel air tanks, with air supplied by a single Viair 380c air compressor. Maxima Imagen painted over 33 individual parts and Electrical Connection provided dress-up components. Cub Group supplied the industry’s first motorcycle blind-spot monitoring system (BSM), and Rogelio’s Auto Upholstery did a fantastic job with the seat. The custom Gold Wing would be appreciated by riders of all ages, interests and backgrounds. The Cool Wing will be on display at multiple events this year including the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and the Americade Rally.

The Final Chapter of Re-Birth of a Shovelhead By the Stealth There were bikes from all over the country, California, Texas, Michigan, New York, Virginia just to name a few. There was serious competition here! Every style bike was represented, early style choppers, antiques, club style, baggers, drag and retro stock, they were all here! I think there were eight bikes that won the Peoples’ Choice vote, and they were moved into the Invitational class. I love the Shovelhead, the bike is named GLORY DAYS because it takes me back to some of my GLORY DAYS!
