Royal Enfield will be rolling out MiY for all its motorcycles, across all our stores in the country in a phased manner. All new motorcycle models from Royal Enfield, from here on, will come with the MiY feature.’

Royal Enfield today announced the roll-out of a first-of-its-kind motorcycle personalization service – Royal Enfield Make-It-Yours (MiY). RE customers can now personalise and accessorise their motorcycles at the time of purchase. Enabled via an all-new app-based 3D configurator, MiY will allow consumers access to thousands of possible combinations in personalisation options with a choice of colourways, trims, and graphics, as well as genuine motorcycle accessories at the time of motorcycle booking.

Once customers place the booking via the app, they will also be able to track the delivery timeline of their motorcycle. Royal Enfield MiY 3D configurator solution is currently available for Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.

Launched in 2018, the Interceptor 650 has gone on to become one of the very popular roadsters in India and in international markets.

In the first phase, MiY with the 3D configurator will be rolled out on the Royal Enfield App (available on Android – Google Play Store and iOS – Apple App Store), the company website (royalenfield.com), and through more than 320 Royal Enfield stores across the country.

With the launch of the Royal Enfield App last month, customers are now able to book their motorcycle, and even place a service request digitally. Consumers will now also be able to opt for extended warranty and Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) packages as well via the App. The MiY suite will be rolled out for the entire Royal Enfield portfolio in a phased manner.

With MiY, customers will have a ‘little bit of them’ built into the motorcycle and depending on the level of personalization, motorcycles will be custom-made as per consumer specifications, within 24 to 48 hours, at the company’s manufacturing plant in Chennai, Vinod K. Dasari, CEO Royal Enfield said.

New BMW R 1250 RT Comes with Instrument Cluster Map Display

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com

Over the past few months BMW has been hard at work updating its motorcycle range. Last we heard from the Bavarians we were gifted with the new R 1250 GS family of two, but there’s another important two-wheeler boasting the same engine in need of a refresh: the R 1250 RT.

The Touring bike was refreshed as well for the new model year, and the BMW announced this week the changes are meant to give it a new look, more standard equipment, and several technical upgrades.

The most important part of the motorcycle, its engine, remains largely unchanged. We’re talking about a 1,254 cc 2-cylinder boxer that delivers 136 hp at 7,750 rpm and 143 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm.

Visually, the biggest change can be seen at the front, where we now get as standard a new full LED headlamp with optional adaptive turning light.

Mechanical upgrades include the availability, as standard, of the BMW Motorrad Full Integral ABS Pro, and Dynamic Traction Control with three riding modes, including a new one called Eco for economical riding.

Most important though is the fact that the R 1250 RT gets a 10.25-inch TFT color screen with integrated map navigation and connectivity. According to BMW, this is the first time a motorcycle has been fitted with a screen that allows maps to be displayed directly in the instrument cluster.

“We have given the R 1250 RT a new look, a comprehensive increase in standard equipment and numerous technical upgrades to achieve a whole new riding experience,” said in a statement Harald Spagl, Project Manager at BMW Motorrad.

“As a dynamic tourer with the incomparable BMW ShiftCam engine, it also has the perfect power unit with impressive power across the entire speed range.”

For now the German carmaker did not say when the new R 1250 RT will become available, and we also have no info on the price.

Harley-Davidson “Firecracker“ Needs to Be Seen

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com

Back in 1985, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts from Germany set up shop in Hamminkeln, Germany. They started off as a repair garage for mainly Japanese bikes. The group slowly grew from being what they themselves describe as a “motorcycle shed” into one of the major names in the custom motorcycle industry.

And by custom, we mean Harley-Davidson. During its early years, Thunderbike repaired bikes, but also started toying with the idea of customizing them. Long ago they spat out both Suzuki and Yamaha two-wheelers, with a custom twist.

Later on, over a decade after being set up, Thunderbike decided Harley-Davidson is the way forward, and completely switched focus on the American-made motorcycles. Slowly the moniker became known worldwide first by selling these bikes, and later by modifying the hell out of them, and even launching a full line of frames to house Harley hardware.

Over the past year, we’ve covered Thunderbike’s work extensively. The Germans have literally hundreds of modified Harleys in their portfolio (we’re yet to find a more lucrative shop anywhere else), and they keep on coming, either as client-required modifications, or as special builds for competitions like the King of Kings.

In 2020 the garage is celebrating its 35th birthday. It was only natural for the Germans to come up with a worthy build, made for the occasion. And this is it.

There’s no official name for the motorcycle. Thunderbike only calls it 35th Anniversary Bike, because from time to time they use all of their inspiration for products, and are left with none for names. There is however one word on the bike’s page that would fit it just nicely: Firecracker. So we chose to call it that.

Usually, we would tell you a thing or two about the build. Things like it uses mostly Thunderbike parts, a touch of Harley hardware – including the Panhead engine – or that a lot of CNC machinery was involved.

But we’ll give you none of that this time. What we give you is a video (below) documenting the project (you’ll need about 30 minutes of your life to see it all), because the Firecracker is a bike that needs to be seen, not written about.

Worst Week Ever for Technoauthoritarian Suppression of Information

Las Vegas, Nevada – Parler, the people-driven free speech platform, is tallying the litany of examples occurring this week in which tech publishers flexed their content curation muscles to restrict or suppress the free flow of information in the run-up to the 2020 election. The information brownout is now well under way.

In the past week:

  • Twitter blocked the sharing of a link to a story by the New York Post, America’s fourth largest newspaper, laying out evidence of corrupt influence peddling by Hunter Biden, his father and then Vice President Joe Biden, and a state-run Ukrainian energy company.
  • Facebook preemptively restricted sharing of the same story, saying it needed to be subjected to their “fact checkers.”
  • Twitter locked the accounts of the New York Post, the Trump Campaign and White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnaneyfor tweeting links to the story.
  • Twitter even blocked access to the House Republican Judiciary Committee’s website for posting the piece.
  • Facebook says it will ban all ads deemed political after the polls close on November 3, making it more difficult to circulate allegations of vote irregularities.
  • Facebook also banned anti-vaccination ads.
  • Not to be outdone, YouTube has begun removing videos containing “misinformation” about Covid vaccines.
  • After the World Health Organization walked back their call for global lockdowns as a way to prevent the spread of Covid19, saying the policy is having devastating effects that will kill or impoverish millions, Twitter and Facebook are feeling the heat. The tech publishers chose to feature information from the WHO, while removing content about competing perspectives. In other words, they were complicit in imposing this failed policy, which hurt everyone while, notably, benefiting the publishers’ bottom lines.
  • Twitter locked the account of Lauren Witzke, the Republican party candidate in Delaware’s U.S. Senate race, over comments critical of policies allowing “mass migration” in Europe.
  • Twitter announced that it would slow down its retweet functionahead of the election to make it more difficult for information they don’t like to go viral.
  • Twitter locked the account of former ambassador to Germany and acting DNI Richard Grenell, because he shared photographic evidence of mail-in ballot irregularities.
  • Parler was the subject of an attack piece in The Washington Postbased on a “report” by paid Facebook marketing consulting firm Graphika. A Senator quoted in the WaPo piece described us as a “walled garden built to provide safe harbor for wild conspiracies, white supremacists, and vile hate speech.” He continued, “It’s of little surprise they would welcome the participation of foreigners cosplaying as Americans.” (The same marketing firm is apparently providing Congressional testimony today at the invitation of Capitol Hill Democrats.)

“Facebook and Twitter continue to make it clear: they are authoritarians who ultimately want to make the rules for all content curation on the Internet,” said Parler COO Jeffrey Wernick. “They’ve enjoyed broad power to block, ban or throttle content that challenges their agenda or their bottom line—and have become increasingly brazen about doing so.

“Their policies are so lockstep, it is as if Facebook, Twitter and Google are a cartel who act in concert, perhaps through copying or signaling of some kind.

“Perhaps we should take it as a compliment that they’ve brought in their bought-and-paid-for lackeys, masquerading as independent “experts”, to denigrate any free speech platform that dares to challenge them. Clearly we are having an effect, when, aided by their allies in the mainstream media, they brand as public enemies all those who refuse to fall in line.”

“Parler will not fall in line. Parler will not back down.

“We encourage everyone who wants to speak and think freely to Twexit, Erasebook and join the movement at Parler.”

Parler was founded in 2018 and has a community of over 4 million people. The platform is committed to free speech, does not mine or sell data, and does not curate content based on politics or ideology. Parler continues to stand with the People and against Technoauthoritarianism.

2020 Legislators of the Year from the MRF

2020 Legislators of the Year

Last month, at the 36th annual Meeting of the Minds in Indiana, Senator Gary Peters of Michigan and Representative Troy Balderson of Ohio were awarded the 2020 Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) Legislator of the Year Award.

The Legislator of the Year Award annually recognizes lawmakers for their commitment to advancing policies that support motorcycle riders across the nation. This year, both honorees are avid motorcyclists and have spent numerous hours on their bikes sharing the roads with fellow bikers and constituents.

U.S. Senator Gary Peters of Michigan is a founding member of the Senate Motorcycle Caucus and leads the caucus as it’s co-chairman. In his role on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Senator Peters has consistently fought to protect the rights and freedoms of motorcyclists. Senator Peters has played a leading role on legislation regarding autonomous vehicles. In public statements, meetings and during committee hearings, Senator Peters has made it a point that motorcyclists need to be protected during the deployment of this new technology.
“I’m honored to receive this award. There is no better way to see Michigan’s gorgeous scenery than by motorcycle. Through riding across Michigan, I’ve met people from all walks of life and had the opportunity to form a bond through a mutual love of riding,” said Senator Peters. “I’ve been proud to work with ABATE over the years to ensure riders always have a seat at the table. I’ll continue fighting for motorcyclist safety and ensure that we can keep riding as technologies on the road adapt in the coming years.”

ABATE of Michigan President Vince Consiglio said, “ABATE is proud to have its members ride with Gary on his annual ride across Michigan – and I can say firsthand Gary handles his bike well!” MRF President Kirk Willard added, “Autonomous vehicles continue to be a growing concern for motorcyclists. We are fortunate to have a motorcyclist, like Senator Peters protecting our interests.”

Also honored as Legislator of the Year in the House of Representative was Congressman Troy Balderson. Congressman Balderson represents Ohio’s 12th district, is a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and was instrumental in adding motorcycle friendly amendments to the surface transportation reauthorization legislation passed by the House in 2020. As a motorcyclist himself, Congressman Balderson has displayed a keen understanding of the unique role that motorcycles play in our transportation network.
Upon learning of his award, Congressman Balderson said, “I’m proud to be one of the few motorcycle riders in Congress, as I personally understand the needs of riders across the country, including the thousands who live in my district. I’m honored to be named the Champion Legislator of the Year by the Motorcycle Riders Foundation; I’ll never stop working for the needs of Ohio’s fellow riders.”
“Congressman Balderson has been a true champion for our nation’s motorcyclists,” said MRF President Willard. “His work on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has been invaluable to the protection of the rights and freedoms of the more than 8 million riders nationwide. We are honored to present him with our Champion Legislator Award for 2020.”

Since 2017 an award has been presented to one member of the U.S. Senate and one member of the U.S. House. Both award winners are presented, by their state motorcycle rights organizations, with personalized leather motorcycle vests. Below is a list of past vest winners. Congratulations to this year’s winners and thank you to all past winners for their efforts on behalf of motorcyclists.

2017 – Sen. Ron Johnson (Wisconsin), Rep. Tim Walberg (Michigan)

2018 – Sen. John Thune (South Dakota), Rep. Michael Burgess (Texas)

2019 – Sen. Joni Ernst (Iowa), Rep. Collin Peters (Minnesota)

2020 – Sen. Gary Peters (Michigan), Rep. Troy Balderson (Ohio)

It’s All Good Bikernet Weekly News for October 15th, 2020

You’ll see in the news a pitch from the MRF to sign up new members. I’ve always supported the MRF because they have worked tirelessly for decades to maintain our freedoms. There’s been competition with the AMA, NCOM and the MIC. I always felt the MRF was the most pure freedom fighting group. They are supported by and support the state rights groups. They aren’t connected to law firms or overseas manufacturers. They are simply freedom fighter devoted to street motorcyclists rights.

Everyone should join the MRF, even members of the AMA and members of the MIC. The industry would be better off. For a longtime we tried to work with the industry guys and shops, but Industry guys thought they were covered by the MIC. That’s not the case. Anyway, it’s good to be a member, if only to stay abreast of the challenges our industry faces. I could go on a major rant about what the MRF membership has done to keep you free, less harassed, and able to work on and build bikes, but it would take me a week. Just join and tell ‘em Bandit sent you.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Engine Revealed as 170 HP Granturismo

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com

Come November 4, a new Ducati bike will be revealed. Called Multistrada V4, the two-wheeler is supposed to be the world’s first production motorcycle to be fitted with front and rear radars. But perhaps of more importance to us is the fact that it will use a brand new V4 engine, one the bike maker revealed on Thursday (October 15).

Because the powerplant is meant to animate the fourth and most advanced generation of the Multistrada V4, nothing was left to chance and, starting from the existing tech and taking inspiration from MotoGP, a beautiful piece of hardware was created.

Somewhat smaller that the version it replaces (85 mm shorter, 95 mm lower, but 20 mm wider), the engine is also light. It weighs 66.7 kg (147 pounds), 1.2 kg (2.6 pounds) less than the current record holder, the Testastretta twin-cylinder used on the previous Multistrada 1260.

1,158cc in displacement, the engine makes use of a new distribution with a spring valve return system, part chain/part gear – timing distribution, and a counter-rotating crankshaft. All this and a host of other engineering tricks allow the V4 Granturismo to spit out a massive amount of power: 170 hp at 10,500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm.

As said, apart from the engine the new Multistrada bike will bring to the table rider-assistance technologies that are not to be found anywhere else in the motorcycle industry.

More precisely, the bike comes with a front radar that governs the Adaptive Cruise Control (AAC) technology. It calculates and adjusts the distance from other vehicles, when the bike’s speed is between 30 and 160 km/h (18 to 99 mph).

At the rear a similar system will act as a type of early warning system and blind spot detector, alerting the rider when a vehicle approaches from behind at high speed.

So, we know most of the things we needed to know about the new Multistrada V4. All we have to do now is sit tight for a couple more weeks and wait for to Ducati to actually show it in the metal.
