Savic Electric Motorcycle Is Thor’s Hammer in the Hands of Mad Max

Yet, from time to time, one stands out, like it’s the case with Melbourne-based Savic Motorcycles. Led by a man who at some point in his career worked for Ford Australia, Dennis Savic, the company set out to create an electric bike even Mad Max would be proud of riding on Fury Road. Designed as a c-series cafe racer, the bike is officially Australia’s first locally-made electric two-wheeler that should offer decent performance levels for an incredibly affordable price. Sometime in the near future, there will be three variants of the Savic bike available, namely Omega, Delta and Alpha, each with a differently-sized battery and increasing range: 120, 150 and 200 km, respectively (74, 93, 124 miles). Zero to 80 percent charging time ranges from 2 to four hours. The electric motor fitted on it, of unspecified power, allows for 0 to 62 mph acceleration of between 3.5 and 5.5 seconds, depending on the version. Built as all motorcycles in its class for speed and handling, the Savic does not look particularly comfortable, but it does look.. familiar. The seat for the rider and the part that in conventional bikes is the fuel tank come together to become what looks like half of Thor’s hammer mounted on two wheels. Just by looking at it, one could say this cafe racer will be prohibitively priced, but it truly isn’t. The Australians plan to sell the entry-level Omega for $12,990, while the top of the range Alpha would retail for $23,990. There is no word yet on when production is expected to start, but Savic is already accepting submissions

BMW’s naked all-electric bike inching towards reality: Here’s how the LiveWire rival might look!

Considering the fact that these two generate power output in the 100hp region, BMW must also be eyeing a similar output on its electric bike. The buzz around high-performance electric motorcycles is just refusing to die. Harley-Davidson revealed the LiveWire a few days back followed by which Kawasaki dropped a major hint on how its upcoming electric bike would be like. Now, very recently, patent images of a BMW naked bike have been leaked on the web and this one points towards a pure electric motorcycle. However, this is not the first time that the company has attempted at making an electric motorcycle. Back in the year 2015, the company created an eco-friendly version of the S1000RR, naming it the eRR. However, the e-bike in the patent images that have been revealed recently seems to be based on the F800. The patent images suggest that the battery pack and the electric motor will be a structural member of the frame and this approach was earlier seen on the company’s C Evolution electric scooter. The patent images also show that the wheels, monoshock, brakes and the inverted forks up front seem to have been borrowed from the F800R. The swingarm and the rear wheel on the electric bike have been taken from the BMW F800GT. The engine on the aforementioned two bikes churn out 90hp and BMW would not want to compromise on this aspect on its electric offering. Looking at these elements, it can be safely assumed that the German automaker is working on a naked electric motorcycle that will be based on the company’s F800 range. Electric vehicles won’t be mainstream, says Honda CEO

Electric vehicles won’t be mainstream, despite the push from the governments and the auto manufacturers across the world towards e-mobility, claims a media report quoting Honda CEO Takahiro Hachigo. The report further quotes Hachigo saying, “The hurdles to battery electric vehicles and complete autonomous driving are still quite high.” Commenting about Honda’s electrification strategy, he said the brand will focus on petrol-electric hybrids, not BEVs, through 2030. Also, he said Honda will prioritize incremental advances that offer real-world safety at affordable prices, instead of fancy functions and pricy lidar systems, claims the report. Honda aims to be more realistic instead of competing with rivals brands when it comes to electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology. Hachigo further said, “I do not believe there will be a dramatic increase in demand for battery vehicles, and I believe this situation is true globally. There are issues with infrastructure and hardware.” He also added, “There are different regulations in different countries, and we have to abide by them. So, it’s a must to continue R&D. Jam-On Productions hosted its 32nd Annual Motorcycle Swap Meet & Show. The event featured everything motorcycle related- like parts, apparel and vintage bikes. Organizer, Mark Weiler, said the show brings motorcycle enthusiasts together to shop for the coming holidays. “This is a very strong event, there’s a lot of people here. Probably getting ready for the holidays, vendors are selling so they can get some money for the holidays and people to shop to get some presents. It’s good strong meet for that time of year,” said Weiler. Jam-On Productions holds motorcycle shows all over the country including in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.

New Jersey Tramples on 1st Amendment To Target Pagan’s MC
The New Jersey State Commission of Investigations recently held public hearings on the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club (PMC) and it was business as usual. 1The NJSCI, in a trend being repeated by government and media sources nationwide, continued the process of eroding and ignoring the 1st Amendment in an attempt to vilify motorcycle clubs, in this instance the PMC due to the club’s alleged rapid growth recently. The actions of the few do not, and should not, dictate policy towards an entire demographic. Yet, that is the exact tactic being employed by the NJSCI by exploiting and sensationalizing the alleged actions of a few members in an attempt to encourage policy condemning the entire organization. That is simply not how the 1st Amendment works. Same old song and dance The NJSCI hearing was intended to expose policymakers to the allegedly growing threat presented by the PMC. The NJSCI has no power to prosecute. They do, however, provide guidance to policymakers that directly influence legislation and law. Ignoring the fundamental liberties embodied in the 1st Amendment, the NJSCI presented a familiar narrative echoing a biased and inaccurate stereotype by presenting as evidence actions of individual members in an attempt to condemn all PMC members. Moreover, many of the examples presented have not been subjected to judicial scrutiny or due process. Although no one goes to prison as a direct result, the NJSCI directly influences legislation without the requirement that an individual is innocent until proven guilty. The false 1% narrative NJSCI investigative agent Edwin Torres begins by advancing the falsehood that being a 1%’ER is synonymous with being a criminal. This assertion is an attempt to condemn an entire community and constitutionally protected symbol and association. “Make no mistake. They are gangs”, says Torres. Generous group helps make new prosthetic for local war vet and surprises him with new motorcycle
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW ) — An innovative event is giving a local war veteran a big surprise and the chance to once again hit the open road. Sgt. Charles Zollicoffer served three tours of duty with the Marines, then joined the Army and was getting ready to re-deploy overseas when he was hit by a drunk driver on his motorcycle. “The morning I was set to fly off that’s when I had the accident,” said Sgt. Zollicoffer. “Boom, that was it.” The driver left him for dead on S.R. 800 in Stark County, but luckily another man on a motorcycle who was headed to work stopped and saved his life. “I didn’t think he was gonna make it,” said Dave Bowman. Twenty-seven surgeries and four months later, Zollicoffer woke up at Aultman Hospital with his left leg amputated at the hip joint. Doctors told him it was a difficult amputation and that he would never walk again. “I said, ‘I will walk again; I don’t care if I have to take a 2×4 and duct tape, I will walk,’” said Zollicoffer. The father of three has been walking using a prosthetic leg, but has not been able to ride a motorcycle again— something he truly loved to do. Then, a friend and former colleague told him the good news. De Ann Williams, executive director of the Stark County Veterans Service Commission, nominated him to be part of the “Challenge America’s Makers for Veterans Event.” The event, which kicked off Friday night at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, combines teams of students, engineers, designers and physicians who develop solutions for veterans. The plans are then developed into finished product using 3D printers, metal making, and circuit boards among other means. “An incredible, but sometimes intense experience,” said senior Coleman Isner.
