One of the best parts about owning a motorcycle is having a front-row view to all things nature. There’s nothing standing in between you and all the colors of the natural world. Fall is one of the best times to go cruising through the wilderness. Leaf peepers are known for chasing bright yellows, reds, and oranges all over the country as autumn sets in. Chances are there’s a great leaf-oriented stretch of road near you. Get Your Bike Ready for the Trip Before you head out on your trip, make sure you have everything you need to explore the open road. Some of these routes can be quite remote, so you need to have a plan in case things take a turn for the worst. Above all else, use helmet communication to keep in touch with your loved ones on your trip, especially if you stray far from home. You should be able to call for help or check your GPS without taking your eyes off the road. You drove all this way to look at the leaves, after all. Looking down at your phone can be a recipe for disaster. You also need to keep your hands on the handlebars at all times to stay in control. Use a Bluetooth motorcycle helmet to use your electronic devices hands-free for more peace of mind behind the wheel. Find a Bluetooth motorcycle helmet with speakers that produces clear audio. Meri typically plays it safe when it comes to her lifestyle, so it surprised her fans to hear that she’s a biker. The 50-year-old TLC star took to her Instagram account on Tuesday, September 14 to touch base with her fans. Meri told her followers that she was using her day off to get some “random” things done and to “step away” from her plans. Along with a pic of herself posing with her daughter Mariah’s dog, Mosby, Meri included one of her signature motivational captions. It read, “Just another Tuesday morning where I get to step away from plans and do something random, like take my motorcycle in for repair…. 😁 (Don’t worry, Mosby and I drove the car for the pick up, I wouldn’t have put him on the bike, just in case you were worried lol!)” “Working for myself, being in business for myself, making my own business decisions, creating my environment, exploring the world, finding my peace, living with joy, these are all the things I’m grateful for.” “I’m dedicated to supporting and empowering my family, friends, team members, business partners, and anyone else who wants to own their own business and work toward their own dreams! Because dreaming is where it’s at!” Upon reading that Meri took her motorcycle to the shop for repair, her fans immediately took to the comments section to make sure they didn’t misread her post. “Motorcycle?! 👏” one of Meri’s followers commented. “Haha yep!” Meri replied. AMA LongRider Program – Recognizing AMA Members Who Love to Ride The AMA LongRider program is your chance to show others that you’re serious about riding your motorcycle. AMA members are invited to earn patches for various mileage milestones. Mileage awards are available at 10,000, 25,000 and 50,000 annual miles. In addition to the awards, AMA LongRiders will be recognized on the AMA website. If you don’t get a chance to ride that often, let your miles accumulate for a Lifetime Mileage award at 25,000, 50,000, 100,000, 250,000, 500,000, 750,000 and 1 million miles. Riders who achieve 1 million miles will earn a special AMA LongRider plaque. Long Rider Rules: Must be current AMA member Must agree to abide by AMA verification rules and procedures Must register for program (miles begin to accumulate once registered) May use multiple motorcycles How it works:  Riders register using the AMA LongRider Application. Click Here. Mileage counts from this day forward, unless you can provide verification of previous mileage with documentation from an AMA-chartered club. The AMA will consider verified mileage awards from non-AMA groups/clubs/dealers on a case-by-case basis. Mileage will not be credited for years that you were not an AMA member. If you were enrolled in the AMA LongRider program in 2008 or prior, previous verified AMA LongRider Emeritus mileage counts. Send a current odometer photo with your AMA card in the photo or other verification as listed on the mileage award form. Odometer pics and other verification will be kept on record with the AMA. With Emory’s possessions distributed between her Jeep and a U-Haul trailer, Ellis hitched his BMW K 1600 GT touring-class motorcycle on the back and accompanied her last summer as they made their way northwest, a long but straightforward path ending in a brief visit to Ellis’ brother’s Seattle home before settling Emory into her new digs. As for the journey back to Baton Rouge? Ellis had something a bit more wayward in mind. For two weeks, Ellis drove an alternative route home, traveling a total of 752 miles through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Mississippi and, eventually, back to Louisiana. “My wife had gotten me a book, Great American Motorcycle Tours, for Christmas a while back, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to check some of them out,” says Ellis. “As for deciding where to stay or where to eat, I was kind of just playing it by ear. Fortunately it all worked out better than expected, with blue skies almost the whole way home.” And a good thing, too, with so much sightseeing in so little time. As bikers we are adventurers. Hell, anytime you head out in Los Angeles on a motorcycle, it’s an adventure. The current adventure is moving to Deadwood, South Dakota and out of California. Remember, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. I hope that adage is accurate. I’m researching a new Harley-Davidson model the FXDR and the FXDRS. I’ve heard some stories and Donnie Smith built one. I was told they were built only in 2018 and 2019. Upon further investigation, they may have been built in 2019 and 2020.
