Willie G Davidson To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award From Sturgis Motorcycle Museum

William G. Davidson has been involved in shaping Harley-Davidson’s identity for over 50 years. The brand has arguably been a huge influence on the motorcycle world and been a big part of how people live the motorcycle experience. Wille G. has had a central role in the H-D adventure, so Harley-Davidson’s Chief Styling Officer Emeritus and Brand Ambassador is set to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony, August 9, 2017. “Willie G. is not just a brand ambassador for Harley-Davidson, he is an ambassador for biker culture worldwide,” said Myrick Robbins, executive director of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall Of Fame. “The Museum’s goal is to ‘Honor the Rider’ and Willie G. is the embodiment of motorcycle riding.” Already a pre-2001 member of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame, Willie G. was joined by his lovely wife Nancy in the Class of 2010. “Just like Sturgis Rally founders Pearl and Pappy Hoel, Willie G. and Nancy have made a long-term, positive impact on the motorcycle community,” added Robbins. “You could say Willie G. was born with gasoline in his veins.” The son of former Harley-Davidson president, William H. Davidson, and the grandson of one of the original founders, William A. Davidson, he has helped shape the iconic look, sound and feel that have defined Harley-Davidson motorcycles for more than 50 years. Starting in the 1970s, he developed iconic designs which kept Harley-Davidson motorcycles selling while the company completed technological and manufacturing improvements. Throughout his career he developed the bikes that came to define Harley-Davidson, from the XLCR™ Cafe Racer up through the V-Rod™ and the Street Glide™. A Wisconsin native, Willie G. went to The University of Wisconsin for three years before transferring to the Art Center College of Design […]

Freewheeler Trike explored: Re-imagining a Harley-Davidson

Re-imagining a Harley-Davidson Freewheeler, Trike Market in America and the Big Players CLICK TO READ by Ujjwal Dey The 21st century saw the American behemoth Harley-Davidson jump into the Trike bandwagon once more with Tri Glide Ultra Classic which was introduced in 2009. In 2015, they rebranded their Trike model as the Harley-Davidson Freewheeler. Reverse is now a standard feature on Harley Trike. Freewheeler adds hippie style with its mini ape hanger handlebars and bobtail fenders for a low profile. At $34,339 starting price, a TriGlide Ultra is a luxury for those who can afford it. Infotainment on a TriGlide Ultra is five star luxury on wheels. When they go to work on the infotainment system for a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle they follow one simple principle – If you’re going to live in the saddle of a top-end touring bike, you deserve better sound than most people have in their living rooms. More sound. Purer sound. Big, full-color touch screens. Switches that are located where you intuitively want them to be and can reach without removing your hands from the grips. Voice activation for your music, phone and GPS. Think of it this way. Back in the day there was nothing wrong with the sound of Johnny crackling out of a dashboard Philco. But what the latest infotainment systems do for your ears, and eyes, is infinitely better. Visit www.BikernetTrikes.com to read the complete article and Specs. <–CLICK HERE

See Harley-Davidson’s XG750R Flat Tracker Bikes At Events in 2017

The liquid-cooled Harley-Davidson XG750R motorcycle will be the only bike raced by the Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Racing Team in 2017. The new flat-tracker will replace the Harley-Davidson XR750. The Harley-Davidson Factory Team will contest the 2017 American Flat Track (ATF) racing series and ESPN’s X Games Minneapolis Harley-Davidson Flat Track Racing event exclusively aboard the XG750R bikes. The racing season opens during Daytona Bike Week at the March 16 ATF Daytona TT on a new circuit featuring a jump to be constructed inside Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. “There is extraordinary energy building behind the new American Flat Track series and after decades of XR750 dominance, it’s time to bring a new level of performance and technology to the track with the Harley-Davidson XG750R,” said Harley-Davidson Vice President and Managing Director U.S. Mike Kennedy. “The new Daytona TT promises to be a thrilling event. If you are in Daytona for Bike Week, ride to the race and help the Factory Team kick off an exciting season.” With a custom chassis purpose-built for flat track racing, the XG750R flat tracker is powered by a race-modified, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 750cc Revolution X™ V-Twin engine. “Unlike our competitors, we are going flat track racing behind an American-made production engine,” said Kennedy. “The XG750R is a purebred racing motorcycle, but its modified engine is based on the same Revolution X V-Twin anyone can buy from a Harley-Davidson dealer in a Street 750 motorcycle, an engine designed by Harley-Davidson engineers and assembled at Harley-Davidson Vehicle and Powertrain Operations in Kansas City. There’s a direct link from the Street 750 to the XG750R flat tracker the Factory Team will be racing for a championship, and that link is our passion for performance.” The XG750R raced through a development season in 2016 alongside the air-cooled

New World Order Bikernet Weekly News for January 5, 2017

Hey, I received a note from the MRF about a state trying to pass another helmet law.Over the last eight years we’ve seen a shift from a balanced approach to save everything. The notion that if one precious life could be saved we can torture thousands for years to prevent one death. Think about it from two prospectives. First, the worst problem on the planet is overpopulation. And is the design to make health care a mega industry by keeping us alive as long as possible. Of course in the process, our freedoms fly out the window. I’m hoping to see freedom return as a priority in this country and a balanced approach for safety. What do you think?
