March 29th is a day for Americans to remember and commemorate the service and sacrifices made by nearly three million service members who served in Vietnam. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the disestablishment of the United States Military Assistance Command in Vietnam, and the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. Our troops, many of them our fathers and grandfathers, came home from Vietnam but didn’t get the proper welcome they deserved. Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve had the opportunity to honor over 671 Vietnam Veterans through commemorative pinning ceremonies. While this welcome home is decades overdue, it’s never too late to say thank you to our veterans. During the war era, nine million active duty served. At one point, over three million were in Vietnam at the same time, which was more than any time during World War II. Today, there are still six million Vietnam veterans in America, and millions of families of those who served during the war. Our veterans and military families have made tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedoms. There are over 54,000 veterans in the State of South Dakota, and although I didn’t serve in the Armed Forces, I work to represent them every day in Congress. Meeting with veterans, hearing their stories, taking their concerns, and understanding their needs has given me a deeper understanding of the tremendous sacrifice that our servicemembers and their families, both past and present, have made to protect our freedoms. I’ll be hosting our first Vietnam veterans pinning ceremony of 2023 in April. from https://www.ormondbeachobserver.com The Rossmeyer family has sold Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson and Destination Daytona at 1635 N. U.S. 1 after being in business for 28 years, to Teddy Morse of the Ed Morse Automotive Group, a press release announced on Thursday, Nov. 17. “Our kids continued Bruce’s dream after his death and I am very proud of them,” principal owner Sandy Rossmeyer said. “I am also extremely pleased that we are selling to a buyer who knew Bruce and that Mr. Morse is thrilled to carry on the Daytona Harley-Davidson legacy. The time to sell is when you are on top, and my children and our loyal team of associates have certainly kept us there and will work hard to help Teddy build his own Harley-Davidson legacy.” The dealership will operate under the name Teddy Morse’s Daytona Harley-Davidson. Destination Daytona will continue to operate with its existing tenants, the Clarion Inn Ormond Beach, the 35-000 square-foot Rock N’ Roll event pavilion, and the Saints and Sinners Pub. According to a press release by the Ed Morse Automotive Group, the dealership will soon begin selling LiveWire, an electric American motorcycle brand. The Ed Morse Automotive Group, which has been family-owned for over 75 years and is headquartered in Delray Beach, currently owns 36 dealerships, 70 automotive franchises, 40 locations and 18 automotive and motorcycle brands. The New Smyrna Harley-Davidson dealership will be closing permanently on Nov. 30. Over 500 bikers showed up for the “Tidman Strong Motorcycle Ride Fundraiser.” The escorted ride began at the Department of Mental Health’s Hadley Building in Westborough and ended at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Leominster. Matthew Tidman was beaten by an inmate at MCI-Shirley in August.​ His younger brother, Josh Tidman, organized the ride to help the officer’s family. Josh Tidman said his brother is making progress, and the family is hoping for the best, but it’s a long road to recovery. “A lot of people came about it, without question. I couldn’t have done this without my friends and fellow department of corrections officers who put this together,” Joshua Tidman said. “It’s unmeasured, the amount of love that’s here. Motorcycle Ride to raise money for domestic violence victims

by Peter Williams from https://www.leducrep.com/ Blackjacks Roadhouse put on its fourth Ride For Mom fundraiser May 14 to raise awareness and funds for victims of domestic violence. Funds were raised for the Leduc and District Victim Services, a charity working with Leduc, Beaumont, Devon, Thorsby, Breton and the Edmonton International Airport RCMP detachments to provide everyday assistance (the exact total was not known at press time). The event has been held annually since 2017, but was cancelled the last two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. Following a rainout last weekend, clouds loomed over the sky once again on May 14 before the sun broke through before the 10:30 “kickstands up” start time. More than 100 motorcyclists hit the road for four-hour, 238.9km loop that sees stops in Acheson, Morinville, and Onoway. Event organizer and Blackjacks Manager Krysta Shields said not much convincing is needed to get the riding community out to support a great cause. “Each rider knows they’re going to be part of something amazing, and riding with a group of people who all feel the same way,” Shields said. “I hope that people take away that they’ve done an amazing job for victim services. Ride For Mom is just an anchor of what we can help with. You can feel it when people come back from the ride.” Shields admits organizing the stops and ensuring the safety of the riders can be stressful leading up to the day of the event, but seeing the camaraderie of riders coming together makes it all worth it. “My favourite thing is when I’m standing at the front of the parking lot and waving all the guys and girls through that are all here to support the cause you’re passionate about. (WTVD) — Many motorcycles make long trips, but one motorcycle’s journey home took more than a decade. This special bike belonged to late Person County deputy Mike Currier, who died from an illness in December 2021. Currier used to take his son Austin on rides on his Harley-Davidson Fat Boy before he was forced to sell it during the difficult financial times of 2008. During the years that passed, the motorcycle came into the possession of several different owners until it was purchased by Currier’s good friend John Walker. During Currier’s hospitalization, Walker worked to track down the bike’s whereabouts with plans to surprise his friend upon his discharge from the hospital. Though Currier died, his motorcycle would not stay lost to his family. Currier’s family pitched in together to buy the long-lost bike back from Walker to surprise Currier’s son Austin, who just bought a new home. Tears of joy fell as the Harley-Davidson, an unforgettable housewarming gift, pulled into Austin’s driveway, finally making its way home.
