Local motorcycle riders meander through Mexico on journey

Sitting under a beachside palapa in the small quaint town of Mahahual, Yucatan, we’ve managed to travel through north, central and southern Mexico without losing our heads, getting robbed, bribed or landing in jail. We’ve traveled through areas high on the State Department’s website identified for “known cartel activity, dangerous and unnecessary travel not advised.” We’ve ridden through major cities, on remote dirt mountain roads and through impoverished villages in the middle of nowhere. While we’re sure there are stories out there of people having bad experiences, we have had nothing but warm welcomes from friendly, beautiful people with an amazing culture and unique traditions. Commuter motorcycles make splash in American market

High gas prices are forcing many people to make their commute on two wheels. Motorcycle manufacturers are responding to the increased demand.   The price of gas goes up, then it goes down, then it goes up again -- maybe. With volatility in pump prices, commuting on two wheels has become a bit more popular in this country, as it has been in Europe for many years. "Our surveys have shown that a lot more motorcycles these days are using their bikes for commuting and errands, getting around, just like they would cars," said Ty van Hooydonk, communications director, Discover Today's Motorcycling. Bombardier Recalling Three-Wheel Motorcycles for Fuel Leaks

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. is recalling certain Can-Am Spyder GS, RS and RT vehicles from the 2008 to 2012 model years because of a problem that could result in fuel leaks and possible fires. Some of the three-wheeled, motorcycle-like vehicles have fuel caps that may not fit properly and as a result do not seal the fuel tank. If the fuel cap does not seal properly, it may allow fuel vapor to escape. The vapor could ignite under certain conditions. In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, BRP said the recall affects 33,700 vehicles. BRP, a maker of snowmobiles, personal watercraft and four-wheel all-terrain vehicles developed the Spyder as an alternative to traditional motorcycles. Riding one ...

UFC Boss OK With Fighters Riding Motorcycles

From Frank Mir to Jose Aldo, UFC fighters and motorcycles haven't always been a pleasant mix. But that doesn't mean UFC President Dana White is concerned about awarding a Harley-Davidson bike to his heavyweight champion. "Let me tell you what, when you own a motorcycle, here's the difference: You take a guy like Cain Velasquez or Junior Dos Santos, right? They've got plenty of transportation," White explained following Thursday UFC 155 pre-event press conference in Las Vegas. "Junior Dos Santos has got a pimped-out Range Rover and God knows what else he has. Cain Velasquez has a bunch of cars. You don't want [a motorcycle] to be your main means of transportation." White, of course, is no stranger to how ...
