Race Of Champions To Feature Slingshot SLR

The 2017 Slingshot SLR will be put into action when some of the world’s greatest drivers assemble for the Race Of Champions (ROC) on Jan. 21 – 22, 2017 inside Marlins Park, in Miami, Fla. The Slingshot SLR is the most premium model in the three-wheel roadster’s lineup – featuring lightweight forged aluminum wheels, a 305MM-wide rear tire, Sparco cockpit components and a custom two-tone paint scheme. The vehicle embodies on-road exhilaration and is sure to impress both drivers and fans watching in Miami next month, where the race units will be primed and ready to take to the track. The Race Of Champions is an annual contest that has been held for more than 25 years. It brings together some of the world’s greatest drivers from all of major motorsports – including Formula 1, NASCAR, IndyCar, Le Mans, MotoGP, Touring Cars, World Rally and action sports – setting them free to battle head-to-head in identical machinery. All the racing takes place in a fast-pace display of performance and on-road exhilaration, something that the Polaris Slingshot aligns with perfectly. ROC president Fredrik Johnsson said, “To win the Race Of Champions, drivers need to prove themselves in a wide range of different vehicles to test their skills and versatility to the limit. At ROC Miami we will feature a mix of traditional vehicles and brand new vehicles that will be announced in lead up to the event. We are very excited to introduce this new high-performing Slingshot SLR to our stunning lineup of top machinery. It is the first time we’ve had a three-wheel roadster at the event and it will be fascinating to see how some of the world’s top drivers adapt to this unique racing challenge.” The ROC event is run over two days: first is the Race Of Champions

Goodbye Victory Motorcycles — The Brand Now Enters American Motorcycle History

Polaris Industries, the giant behind Victory Motorcycles and Indian Motorcycle has announced that it will immediately begin winding down its Victory Motorcycles brand and related operations. Polaris will assist dealers in liquidating existing inventories while continuing to supply parts for a period of 10 years, along with providing service and warranty coverage to Victory dealers and owners. “This was an incredibly difficult decision for me, my team and the Polaris Board of Directors,” said Polaris Industries Chairman and CEO Scott Wine. “Over the past 18 years, we have invested not only resources, but our hearts and souls, into forging the Victory Motorcycles brand, and we are exceptionally proud of what our team has accomplished. Since inception, our teams have designed and produced nearly 60 Victory models that have been honored with 25 of the industry’s top awards. The experience, knowledge, infrastructure and capability we’ve built in those 18 years gave us the confidence to acquire and develop the Indian Motorcycle brand, so I would like to express my gratitude to everyone associated with Victory Motorcycles and celebrate your many contributions.” Several factors influenced today’s announcement. Victory has struggled to establish the market share needed to succeed and be profitable. The competitive pressures of a challenging motorcycle market have increased the headwinds for the brand. Given the significant additional investments required for Victory to launch new global platforms that meet changing consumer preferences, and considering the strong performance and growth potential of Indian Motorcycle, the decision to more narrowly focus Polaris’ energy and investments became quite clear. “This decision will improve the profitability of Polaris and our global motorcycle business, and will materially improve our competitive stance in the industry,” said Scott Wine. “Our focus is on profitable growth, and in an environment of finite resources, this move allows us to

Indian Motorcycle — Winterizing Your Bike

Not every Indian Motorcycle® rider is lucky enough to live where the climate lets you ride year-round. For snowbelt residents who live amid snowy, icy streets that are unridable in winter, here’s how to prepare your Indian® motorcycle for winter storage. The goal of winter storage prep is to protect the bike and have it ready to start and run once spring arrives. Many Indian Motorcycle dealers will prep and store your bike for the winter. This frees up your garage space at home, and it lets you rest easy knowing your bike was professionally prepped for winter and is being stored properly. Plus, these dealers commonly include pre-ride service and prep when you pick up your bike in the spring. If you do the storage prep work yourself, rely on your dealer for supplies you’ll need such as oil, fuel stabilizer, cleaning solutions, covers, and more. Protect the Engine & Fuel System After your final ride of the season, fill the fuel tank with non-oxygenated fuel and add Indian Motorcycle fuel stabilizer to the tank. Run the engine briefly (1-2 minutes should do) to get the stabilizer mixed among the fuel. Having the tank full of fuel minimizes the chances of condensation. Change the oil and oil filter. You’ll remove impurities and will have the bike ready to start and run in the spring. Remove the spark plugs and add 2 teaspoons of oil to each cylinder, or spray fogging oil in the plug holes. With the plugs out, cover the plug holes with cardboard or a rag and crank the engine over to coat the cylinders with protective oil. Trickle Charge the Battery If you want to keep your battery charged all winter, disconnect the cable to the negative battery post and attach the trickle charger. A proper

Kuryakyn’s New Mesh Collection Hits The Streets

For 2017, Wisconsin-based Kuryakyn is leading the charge is the debut of Kuryakyn’s most comprehensive product line to-date, the all-new “Mesh” collection. The Mesh collection is loaded with over 50 direct-replacement components for all Harley-Davidson models. Most parts utilize a three-piece design integrating chrome or satin black aluminum outer frames with a satin black aluminum baseplate that’s exposed through satin black or chrome stainless steel mesh panels. The construction method and resulting look is unlike anything available, and unlike anything Kuryakyn has ever developed. “We worked to really dial in the Mesh design to be a hybrid of mechanical and industrial aesthetics,” said Kuryakyn Director of Product Management Matt Leisch. “This is one of the largest product collections we’ve ever rolled out. The rugged style combined with ease of installation and customization will appeal to not only core Kuryakyn customers, but also the emerging group of riders and builders who want that raw, edgy look for their bikes.” Visible socket-head cap screws add a rugged, mechanical appearance and securely fasten the components in place. The multi-piece designs easily disassemble for unlimited custom finish options by end users, as the baseplates, stainless steel mesh panels and frames can be all be painted or coated to match any color theme. Included in the collection are bolt-on derby, timing and master cylinder covers for XL, Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight platforms, as well as caliper covers for FX and FL models. Mesh dash inserts, fuel doors, saddlebag hinge covers and fairing vent accents are a handful of highlighted offerings for bagger models. Multi-fit components include Mesh gas caps and L.E.D. fuel and battery voltage gauges available for tanks equipped with screw-in caps and/or illuminated fuel gauges.
