Krawiec Rocks The House With Big Win In Dallas

Harley-Davidson rider Ed Krawiec stretched his Pro Stock Motorcycle points lead in the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoffs with a final-round win at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at the Texas Motorplex. Krawiec rode a Harley-Davidson Street Rod competition motorcycle to his sixth win of the season and now holds a 107-point Countdown points lead. “This was a perfect weekend for our championship run,” said Krawiec, a three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion who last won the title in 2012. “My closest competitor lost in the first round, so for me every win after the first was a bonus, and to race the Street Rod all the way to a win in the final is huge. I like our position with a commanding points lead and two races left on the schedule. Now the pressure is on anyone trying to catch us.” Krawiec led all qualifiers for the event with a best elapsed time (ET) of 6.860 seconds at 196.53 mph. Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines qualified third on the team’s other Harley-Davidson Street Rod competition motorcycle with a 6.878 ET at 195.87 mph. In Sunday eliminations Hines won in the first round but lost in round two. Krawiec charged through the field to advance to his seventh final round of the season. Krawiec got the 42nd win of his career when his opponent fouled at the starting line. With a 6.785-second blast in round two Krawiec posted the quickest Pro Stock Motorcycle ET of the day and the fastest top speed at 196.50 mph. After four of six rounds in the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoffs, Krawiec leads the Pro Stock Motorcycle standings with 2,506 points. Frankie’s 2005 Dyna Rebuild, Part 3 — Final Assembly Underway

Frankie picked up his paint from Chris Morrison and Yvonne Mecalis in Harbor City. We were in the throes of final assembly. The first thing we needed to do before we could begin assembly included installing the wire loom we removed so Doctor John could straighten the frame. We used a compressor to blow a length of cord down the backbone and pull the wire loom forward for the front end. That was an interesting exercise, and we took care and concern not to overdo it and damage any wires. We ran looms along the bottom of the frame to the regulator, the crank position sensor and over the engine to the EFI for the coil and the throttle body, plus the horn, which would be replaced with the Love Jugs Mini cooling system. Conspicuity and Safer Riding

Conspicuity has long been touted as a means of making you safer while riding your motorcycle. Along with all the high visibility clothing, like Conspicuity’s See-Me and Super See-Me vests, advanced lighting systems for motorcycles have improved safety for motorcyclists. The Federal Government has recognized the importance of preventing motorcycle crashes by allowing modulating headlamps, following Europe’s lead. FMVSS 108 (49 CFR Part 571.108 S7.9. 4) allows motorcycle headlight modulation systems in all 50 states. “A headlamp on a motorcycle may be wired to modulate either the upper beam or the lower beam from its maximum intensity to a lesser intensity.” Read more.

The Denier’s Sunday Post for October 15, 2017

Hey, We live is such strange times. It’s like elementary school principles have taken over the academic and governmental world. They want everything to be safe and they want to control everything. They will make up any excuse. With helmet laws they used the public burden issue. It was bullshit. The 5-Ball factory racer is back in the shop thanks for Jay and his family, who hauled it back from Vegas. And now they use the planet as there excuse to control everything that rolls and even your barbecues. And anyone who disagrees is a denier. I know guys in the industry who make cams, who are afraid to say anything. The not-so-funny thing about all of this is the notion of a Free Society. At the end of the day if we recognize freedom, all these issues find balance. But when the bastards throw freedom out the window problems start. Click here to access the Sunday Post. Outlaw Bikernet Weekly News for October 12, 2017

Hey, We witness change everyday sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. For instance, I grew up in the ‘50s. My parents were violent and men were tough or died trying in WWII and Korea. We were outlaws. We didn’t have any inclination to have families. It was all about the next ride and adventure. Brothers rode, escaped, surfed, built hot rods, climbed mountains and dealt drugs. Maybe that’s why we have a severe homeless population. They had no desire for family or the trapping of what once was a restrictive prison. Maybe the pendulum has swung to the other side and young outlaws want families and all the trappings of comforts because it’s seen as fun and that’s a very good thing. But can us old outlaws understand? Click here to read the rest of the news,

Jared Mees Wins AFT Finals for 10th Victory of Season

In its return to professional flat track racing after more than 60 years away from the sport, Indian Motorcycle Racing swept the 2017 American Flat Track Championship. Aboard the brand-new Scout FTR750 premier race bike, the Indian Wrecking Crew, consisting of Jared Mees, Bryan Smith and Brad Baker, finished the 2017 season with 14 total wins, 37 podiums and six podium sweeps. Mees, the 2017 Grand National Champion, finished the season just as he started in March at the Daytona TT – on the top of the podium. The win at the American Flat Track Finals in Perris, Calf. was Mees’ 10th of the season and set a new single-season record with 17 total podiums. Through 18 races aboard the Scout FTR750, Mees earned himself a career year and his fourth Grand National Championship. “It’s been an unbelievable season with Indian Motorcycle. Since first testing the Scout FTR750 last year, I knew the bike was special and like nothing I’ve ever competed on,” said Mees. “I greatly appreciate all the love and support from my whole team, all the fans and of course my wife. It was a special season, and one I’ll look to top next year.” Mees’ Wrecking Crew teammates Smith and Baker finished second and third, respectively. Smith reached the podium nine times, with four wins, three runner-ups and two third-place finishes. Baker tallied 10 podiums, despite being out with an injury and unable to compete in the final two races. He earned five runner-ups and five third-place finishes. “Countless hours from an incredible team went into building the premier Scout FTR750 race bike. And early testing showed we had something special,” said Gary Gray, Vice President – Product for Indian.  “Much of the credit goes to the Indian Motorcycle Wrecking  Crew of Jared, Bryan and Brad.
