THE DOOMED DYNA SUNDAY POST for April 15, 2018

Hey, I don’t know where to start this morning. Frankie came over with his ’05 Dyna to have me torque the compensating sprocket. His primary chain was too tight and we adjusted it and torgued the compensator nut. Last week he complained of noise and a clunk from the primary. I mentioned in the news how I talked him through discovering the problem. He tightened it, but said he still heard a noise. That’s when we decided to get it down here to take a look. The nut wasn’t that bad, but the primary chain was way tight. We did it up and we thought he was good to go on a Saturday night in Wilmington where they were having a cruise night with old cars and bikes a block over on Avalon Blvd. I’ll tell you what happened at the end. Let’s hit the news.     Click here to grab a subscription. Click here to read the rest of the Sunday Post.

ZERO EMISSIONS BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for April 12, 2018

.”>   Hey, This is not funny. I attended a California Air Resources Board meeting regarding new rule making for motorcycles. (I attended one of these meetings a few years ago.) Every manufacturer of motorcycles was there including Triump sitting beside me and Kawasaki and Honda behind me. At the last meeting I attended, CARB guys dictated to the crowd. There were no discussions. This time, the mostly obese staff talked about embracing all aspects of the market before making their recommendations in 2020. That’s the good news. Read more.

Now available at mycharge.com and Best Buy the myCharge Adventure Jump Start retails for $99.99. We were very skeptical about the myCharge’s claim that it could jump start and engine, so we can give it a try, several times, with a number of vehicles… We hooked it up to a broken down Triumph motorcycle that was stranded on the way to the Rock Store in Malibu. On a motorcycle, the worst part of the operation is always about wrestling to connect the device to the terminals (what else is new?). But once we were able to achieve proper connection, there was no problem. The bike fired right up and got under way. On another occasion we tested the myCharge on a V6-powered Mazda SUV. The car had sat all night with the lights on and was completely dead in the water. Well, it was much easier to hook up to the battery of course, and even easier to get the vehicle under way. We told the owner to go for a long drive so the alternator could recharge the empty battery. Missions accomplished! In closing, here’s a comment one of our readers made: I started

Coolbeth and Klock Werks Score Podium In First Combined Effort

Kenny Coolbeth Jr., Nila Racing and Columbia Avionics, stepped up to the podium with a second-place finish during Sunday’s rain-delayed race at Dixie Speedway in Atlanta.   Joined by new sponsor Klock Werks, of Mitchell, SD, it was a near perfect outing for the #2 rider as he led the pole Saturday. After qualifying first in challenging slick conditions, Coolbeth took the second spot from challengers Jeffrey Carver Jr. and Jarod Vanderkooi. Sunday’s runner-up result, combined with his Daytona TT eighth-place ride, moves Coolbeth into second in the early-season point standings. Even after his announcement that this will be his final AFT season, the series legend appears both motivated and capable of leaving on a high note aboard his privateer Indian Scout FTR750. “I’ve devoted my life to this sport and knowing it’s my final season provides a unique level of motivation for me,” said Coolbeth. “I’m armed with a brand new bike that’s running incredibly well, and I’m planning to give it everything I’ve got to finish on top, before I ride off into the sunset.“ As Klock Werks is all about family, racing, and encouraging young riders, we are excited to join forces with Kenny, his wife Jen, and their new son for his final season. Additionally, as an Indian Motorcycle partner, seeing Coolbeth aboard the new FTR750 brings even more excitement. “Factory teams get a lot of the attention and glory, but privateers are the backbone of this sport, and we couldn’t be prouder to be associated with a rider as respected and decorated as Kenny,” said Brian Klock, President and Visionary of Klock Werks, “On behalf of all of us at Klock Werks, we’re extremely proud to be a part of the final season of one of flat track racing’s most iconic riders.”   Advertisement
