New Bandit’s Cantina Episode 103

by K.Randall Ball with images by George Fleming

Bandit woke the next morning with a start. Emotionally beat-up he struggled with depressing thoughts of the future. He couldn’t figure how society could be living in the best of times, yet some folks were making it the worst.

He showered and scrambled down stairs. The crew made their way quietly around the Cantina as if in a thoughtful daze.

“I’m working on some info for the pamphlet,” Margaret said and studied Bandit’s features. He wasn’t the type of guy to give up or even step back from a fight.

Bandit looked up and smiled. “We’re going to do something or die trying.”

Bandit’s Cantina Episode 96 : a 2021 Christmas story

by K.Randall Ball

Bandit looked around at the dozen or so kids and looked at the sleek classic chopper with highbars he was building. The Knucklehead engine and transmission were now in place.

Marko approached and whispered something into Bandit’s ear, “Exactly,” Bandit added.

It was the week after Thanksgiving. Marko disappeared for a minute and returned with a couple of large boxes marked, “Xmas.”

“We need to do something to brighten Christmas for these kids. I’m going to paint the Chopper red and white for the holidays.” said Bandit.

Custom Harley-Davidson Monaco by Thunderbike

By General Posts

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com

It’s not hard to link Harley-Davidson with racing. The moniker has been at the forefront of such efforts in all sorts of competitions over the years, going deep and wide all across the nation to take part in the most insane of races. Most recently, the Milwaukee company is doing its best to fight off Indian in King of the Baggers on historic circuits all over America.

Whereas Harley is easily linked with pretty much all of the important race tracks across America, the name does not ring all that good when associated with Le Mans. Yet this did not stop a German custom shop by the name Thunderbike from forever tying the American two-wheeler with the famous French circuit with a special GP S Le Mans build.

Presented at the end of last year, the GP S Le Mans is part of the shop’s Racing Series, a line of machines named after the great tracks of the world, including Silverstone, Laguna Seca, or Mugello. A few months after its presentation, the bike has now spawned a successor. It’s called the Monaco, also based on a Breakout, and a nod to the famed European city-state where one of the most exciting Formula 1 races of modern times takes place.

Once a stock Breakout, the motorcycle was lowered for a more aggressive look, gifted with tons of custom parts, including a new triple tree, grips, fenders, a custom fuel tank, and countless covers. Thunderbike calls this build the “first Twin Cam on which we’ve fitted our newly developed GP Parts for this range,” and the result, as it can be seen in the gallery above, is nothing short of spectacular.

We are not being told if any changes to the bike’s engine were made, apart from the fact it now breaths through a Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde exhaust system.

The Monaco extras meant to transform the Breakout took over 11,000 euros to put together, which is about $13,400 at today’s exchange rates.

Manga Series Tells the Story of Soichiro Honda, Watch It Free

By General Posts

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com

For more than a century, manga comics have been enchanting fans all over the world. The unique style of this type of Japanese drawings has been used to tell all sorts of stories, from far-fetched science fiction to historical dramas. And manga has even been used to tell the tale of Honda’s founder, Soichiro Honda.

The Japanese engineer’s life, from his exploits during World War II to the establishment of the company and the efforts made to take it international, is being told in six episodes lasting between 10 and 20 minutes.

The series was initially launched in 2015 and released well into 2019 as the Honda Soichiro Hon Den manga. Given there aren’t many things to do these days given the global circumstances, Honda decided it’s time to revisit the artwork and pitch it to the global audiences in need of some boredom cure.

The creation is not your usual manga, as it blends the iconic Japanese-style cartoon drawings with actual audio files and historic photographs to create something unique, and is available in both English and Japanese.

What we know today as Honda started life as the Honda Technical Research Institute in 1946, after its founder spent several years taunting the auto industry by making parts for Toyota. The entity as we perceive it today came to be in 1948.

Honda’s first product was a motorized bicycle powered by the company’s first ever mass-made engine. That first motorcycle, known as the Type A, would then grow into the Type D, the product that gave birth to the Dream line of two-wheelers.

Slowly, Honda grew into being perceived in some circles as the maker of some of the best motorcycles in the world, and has been leading the industry in terms of volume since the last years of the 1950s’ decade.

Honda also entered the auto industry, but it did so rather late in its life. The first four-wheeler made by the Japanese was the T360 kei car, in 1963, the same year when another model, the S500, was also introduced.

You can watch the entire manga series on Honda’s life and exploits below this text.

Shreve Earns Pirelli Tire Voucher on DIABLO™ Superbike Slicks

ROME, Ga. (June 19, 2019) – Pirelli Tire North America congratulates Mikey Shreve on capturing the brand’s third absolute motorcycle track record of 2019. Competing aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1, Shreve set the track record at Arroyo Seco Raceway during the fourth round of the ASMA Road Race Series.

“Mikey has been working very hard on improving his race craft,” said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “He recently teamed up with the Pirelli brand and it has been great to see the confidence that our tires have given him, which shows in his results on the racetrack. Congrats Mikey!”

Shreve set the impressive lap record of 1:06.75 during the ESP Formula Arroyo qualifying, topping the previous track record of 106.77 that was set back in 2010 by Chris Peris. Shreve’s R1 was equipped with Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike 120/70-17 SC1 front and 200/60-17 SC0 rear tires.

“I couldn’t have captured this track record without my Pirelli tires,” said Shreve. “These are the best tires that I have ever been on in my racing career and it’s huge for my confidence knowing that they are up for the job when going flat out.”

Pirelli continues to offer a tire voucher prize for setting a new motorcycle track record and Shreve’s efforts made him the third rider to earn the reward this year.
