Two UK Bank holidays should help IOMTT attendees enjoy more racing. by Dustin Wheelen from https://www.rideapart.com The Isle of Man TT (IOMTT) returned to the Snaefell Mountain Course in 2022 after a two-year hiatus. As expected, drama unfolded over the two-week period, but officials are always searching for ways to make the Tourist Trophy even better. With the aim of enhancing the event’s long-term sustainability by increasing overall visitor numbers, the new 10-race schedule addresses issues identified by IOMTT organizers. “This research revealed that the existing TT schedule, the Island’s travel capacity, the Island’s accommodation infrastructure, costs factored against the current economic climate, and customers’ changing habits are no longer compatible and do not meet the needs of the event’s customers,” stated MHK Minister for Enterprise Lawrie Hooper. To optimize the TT’s crowd-welcoming ability, organizers scheduled the opening-day qualifying on May 29, 2023, the U.K.’s Spring Bank Holiday. Authorities also deemed Friday, June 9, 2022, the “TT Bank Holiday”, bookending the racing event with two three-day weekends. XDA Champions Win Battle with Mother Nature

The 30th annual DME Racing Fall Nationals concluded the 2022 motorcycle drag racing season at Maryland International Raceway. XDA’s fifth season crowned thirteen champions as the MIROCK-IDBL-XDA legacy continues to evolve and grow. This season featured the best showing of motorcycle drag racing action in fifteen different classes, with over $500,000 paid out in cash purse and $131,000 in contingency offerings. Despite another season finale having rain forecasted for the weekend, the XDA staff did the job they are known for as they hustled to complete the race. “It’s never a great feeling when you see the chance of rain on top of your event, but it never deters the race because we have learned how to quickly adapt and push harder to get the job done,” said Jason Miller. “When you come to XDA we are always going to do what’s best for the racers and the event.” XDA has released its 2023 motorcycle drag racing schedule featuring five events. XDA continues to adapt to the changing markets by reducing the season by one event and spreading them out, giving racers five weeks between events to recharge, rebuild, spend time with their families, and attend other events. The Midwest’s largest motorcycle drag racing series—NHDRO—is coming right down the return road to the head of Edgewater Sports Park’s staging lanes for the Summer Nationals presented by Page Racing on August 5-7. NHDRO’s three races in one weekend format paid off well when the recent July Nationals presented by APE Raceparts faced a Sunday rainout. Making racing economical by giving competitors three days of racing at every event meant that two days of NHDRO Big Checks had already been distributed. And what with racing right here centrally in Ohio, NHDRO is delivering more smiles per mile of travel to motorcycle drag racers.
