Vance & Hines Launches NHRA Motorcycle Race Team – Three-Time Champion Angelle Sampey to Campaign New Four-Valve Suzuki-Powered Bike Vance & Hines Signs on Mission Foods as Partner for NHRA Pro Stock Team February 8, 2021 – Santa Fe Springs CA – Vance & Hines announced today that the NHRA’s winningest female, Angelle Sampey, will ride the company’s new four-valve Suzuki-powered race bike in the 2021 NHRA Camping World series. The team’s quest for the championship in 2021 is a partnership between Vance & Hines and global food producer Mission Foods. A three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle (PSM) champion, Sampey’s 43 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle wins make her the NHRA’s top female athlete. She has the fourth most wins in NHRA PSM history. In 2019 and 2020 Sampey was a member of Vance & Hines’ Harley-Davidson-sponsored team. Sampey will be among the first to ride the recently announced Vance & Hines four-valve Suzuki-powered machine. The new engine features a modernized top-end which provides increased valve lift and reduced mass in the valve train. The 1850cc motor delivers nearly 400 horsepower and will be paired with a custom chassis developed using data from thousands of runs in NHRA competition. “I’m so excited to be part of the Vance & Hines team again this year,” said Sampey. “This is a first-class company that gives me the best bikes I’ve ever ridden. There are a number of startups in the market of making electric two-wheelers now, but the established names of the industry are just beginning to dip their toes into the segment. To date, only one of these established names has ventured into the electric motorcycle sector: Harley-Davidson. Its LiveWire came into the spotlight last year, and came with high hopes in tow. Hopes that, for better or worse, are yet to be met. The LiveWire is not killing it sales-wise, and Harley knows it. That’s why the bike maker embarked on an intensive effort to promote the EV through unconventional means. First, Harley handed two of them (modified) to Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman for their 13,000 miles (21,000 km) trip from the city of Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego all the way to Los Angeles, captured on film under the name Long Way Up. Apparently, the bikes not only survived, but they also handled their jobs beautifully. Then, the company took the LiveWire to the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis for some live audience action. Harley-Davidson LiveWire Claims the Crown of a Barren Kingdom

A lot of interesting things happened there, including an appearance by the 1,400 hp electric Mustang Dragster and some demonstration runs with Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycles. A couple of days ago the Milwaukee bike maker released a very short video showing the highlights of the LiveWire runs with riders Andrew Hines, Eddie Krawiec, and Angelle Sampey holding the handlebars. As it was, the video showed nothing impressive, as fast, drag racing motorcycles we’ve seen before. Socially-distanced people in the stands seemed to confirm nothing spectacular happened, as they seemed unimpressed with what was happening down on the strip. As such, few could have anticipated records being broken. Only that they were (sort of), and Harley confirmed this with an announcement made on September 10. As per the bike maker, one of the three riders, Angelle Sampey (who usually rides a FXDR Pro Stock) accelerated the LiveWire to the records of best elapsed time and top speed. In short, the LiveWire covered the eighth-mile distance (201 meters) in 7.017-seconds and the full quarter-mile (402 meters) in 11.156 seconds, while reaching a top speed 110.35 mph (177.6 kph), which is a bit more than the official top speed of the motorcycle. “Let me tell you what’s amazing,” said Sampey in a statement. “That was the first time I rode the LiveWire. I could not wait to get it on the track. The LiveWire is so easy to ride. Krawiec In The Lead At NHRA Finals Face-Off with Teammate Hines

In an all-Harley final round, Krawiec defeated his Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines teammate Andrew Hines in the first head-to-head face-off of the new Harley-Davidson Street Rod competition drag bikes. Krawiec scored the 40th win of his career on Sunday while setting the low ET (6.826 seconds) and fastest top speed (197.74 mph) of the event for Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations. “We are racing a couple of great Street Rod drag bikes right now,” said Krawiec, who won for the fourth time in five final-round appearances this season. “They are handling well, they are fast and most importantly they are smooth and consistent. We can race round after round and know exactly how these bikes will react. If we maintain this performance we will be a force through the playoffs.” In a weekend dominated by the two Harley racers, Hines secured the top qualifying position with a best elapsed time (ET) of 6.825 seconds at 196.50 mph. Krawiec qualified his Street Rod drag bike second at 6.836 seconds and 195.00 mph. On Sunday, Krawiec and Hines battered the Pro Stock Motorcycle field, and for the 20th time the two former champions lined up to face each other in a final round battle. On this afternoon, Krawiec prevailed with a 6.850-second blast to better the 6.911-second pass posted by Hines. After the first of six rounds in the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoffs, Krawiec leads the Pro Stock Motorcycle class with 2,202 points. Hines is in fourth place with 2,144 points.
