Former Milwaukee mansion of H-D co-founder William S. Harley was on the market

by Sarah Hauer from https://www.jsonline.com Former Milwaukee mansion of Harley-Davidson co-founder William S. Harley was recently on the market. The former mansion of Harley-Davidson co-founder William S. Harley in Washington Heights was recently on the market for the first time in decades. The home at 4906 W. Washington Boulevard was built in 1916 and designed by architect Charles Valentine. The original estimated cost was $8,000, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Harley family moved into the home a couple of years after it was built. Harley, along with his friend Arthur Davidson and Arthur’s brother Walter Davidson, founded the motorcycle brand. Harley and the Davidsons built their first motorcycle in 1903. By 1913, the company had built almost 13,000 motorcycles. The vintage Mediterranean revival mansion was listed for sale at $399,000. The 3,821 square-foot home has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It also features a sun room, grand foyer, formal dining room, fireplace and indoor fountain. Throughout the home are hardwood floors, French doors and arched windows. While the home is spacious (sitting a .28-acre lot), there is a lot of work that needs to be done on it. The electrical system needs updating. The bathrooms are all vintage tile with pedestal sinks. The current owners lived in the home for decades and moved out a couple months ago. The mansion will be sold in “as-in” condition, according to the listing. The property went under contract Tuesday, said the listing agent Mike Argeropoulos of Riverwest Realty. Argeropoulos said the buyer intends to preserve the home. Argeropoulos said more than 200 people came to the open house last weekend. Multiple offers were received, Argeropoulos said. The last time this property was on the market was 1976 when John and Camille Shaw bought it for $44,500, according to city records.

Life and Times of Bandit, June 2021

The Final Escape to the Badlands A buddy of mine came over yesterday. He’s from the old school Chicago streets and he’s a riddled with wild stories. He just bought a book about the Hangmen MC from back in the ’60s. For a minute I met and rode with some Hangmen and Outlaws, in Long Beach. They weren’t associated with the gang back east. In the early club days, a group of riders would just pick up whatever club name they thought was cool and run with it. Sorta the deal applied to the Berdo Hells Angels and the bay area group. The Harley-Davidson Ride Home Is How You Properly Celebrate Freedom

by Elena Gorgan from https://www.autoevolution.com/ Ask anyone about Harley-Davidson and probably the first word you’ll hear out of their mouth is “freedom.” This is what the Ride Home is all about. Even for those who don’t ride or have little knowledge of the Harley-Davidson brand (or bikes in general), the image of the Harley-Davidson rider is that of a man’s man (or woman’s woman, in the case of female riders). Throughout the years, the brand has cultivated this image of the rugged outlaw, of the rebel who forsakes the urban environment for the open road and the sense of ultimate freedom. While the “outlaw” image has been turned into a cliché by the Hollywood machine, the rebel label still holds water. And it’s for and by these rebels that the big Ride Home was born into reality. The most recent edition, the 2018 one, solidified the event as the biggest of the kind in the world – and Harley-Davidson’s status as a leader in the biker community. All motorcycle groups and gangs have that brotherhood / sisterhood approach, but it is only Harley that can boast such a loyal following as to go on a cross-country pilgrimage every 5 years, just to honor the Harley-Davidson spirit. The Ride Home is a tradition that started in 1988, when the company celebrated its 85th anniversary. To mark the occasion, management rented out the front half of the Milwaukee SummerFest grounds, and the city of Milwaukee welcomed bikers from all over the world. They had no idea what to expect or how this event would snowball into something this impressive. As you probably know, Harley-Davidson was founded in 1903 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by the Davidson brothers and their friend William Harley (with some help from another friend, Henry Melk). It is one of

by Stephanie Chavez from https://www.krqe.com BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s been a tough few months for a Vietnam Veteran who lost his home to a fire, but his luck is turning around. Saturday morning dozens of men and women from the motorcycle community stepped up to help him out. Daniel Romero has come a long way since he lost his home in a fire back in September. For months he and his dogs have been living in devastating conditions, with no heat, or water. Romero says he’s never felt more alone in his life. But now the motorcycle community is showing him he’s not alone. Saturday morning bikers from all around the metro, who heard about Romero’s situation, helped him clean up his property. Dozens of men and women, along with the Veterans Memorial are helping him get the property ready for a new trailer, that is being donated. Romero says he never expected the outpouring of support, but it’s nice to have the help – so he can get back on his feet again. Billy Joel’s motorcycle collection vandalised

by Bang Showbiz from http://www.contactmusic.net/ Billy Joel’s beloved 12 motorcycles were trashed when a thief broke into his home over the weekend. Bill Joel’s motorcycles were trashed when a thief broke into his home over the weekend. The ‘Piano Man’ hitmaker called police on Monday (27.01.20) morning when he discovered someone had obtained access to his house in Long Island and damaged his property. Nassau County police told TMZ 12 motorcycles and a home office on the property had been vandalised and it seems that the burglars smashed through a glass door leading into the garage. It is unclear whether anything was stolen or whether Billy was at home at the time of the break-in, which took place at some point between Saturday (25.01.20) and Monday. The 70-year-old singer – who is a known bike enthusiast and even owns a nearby motorcycle story – gave a statement to police and they are currently investigating. Billy previously insisted he’ll never retire because he has the ”greatest job in the world”. Asked if he’s considered retirement, he said: ”I have the greatest job in the world. You get up there, you make a lot of noise, girls scream, and you get s**tloads of money. Are you f***ing kidding me?” But if he does decide to quit performing, the ‘Just the Way You Are’ singer already knows what he wants to happen in his final shows. He continued: ”Now, I do have an idea for a farewell tour. ”The stage is a living-room set: couch, TV, coffee table, food. And there’s bulletproof glass between me and the audience. ”Then I come out and lay down on the couch. I grab the remote and start watching TV. ”The crowd after a couple minutes goes, ‘F**k this’, and starts throwing s**t at the glass. ”I’ll
