Hero MotoCorp expands operations in Argentina

from https://www.business-standard.com/ by Press Trust of India Two-wheeler market leader Hero MotoCorp on Friday announced the expansion of operations in Argentina with the opening of its flagship dealership in Buenos Aires in partnership with Gilera Motors Argentina. Gilera Motors Argentina (GMA) will make new investments to rapidly expand all business operations for Hero MotoCorp’s products. This is expected to generate nearly 500 new jobs in the region, the company said in a regulatory filing. Further, GMA has also expanded its plant in Carlos Spegazzini province of Buenos Aires to completely renovate its infrastructure and adapt the latest automotive technologies that are incorporated in Hero MotoCorp products, it added. ABOUT HERO MOTOCORP Hero MotoCorp is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world. In January 2021, Hero MotoCorp’s production exceeded 100 million two-wheelers. Hero MotoCorp is the Exclusive Distributor for Harley-Davidson motorcycles in India and manages the Authorized Dealerships, Service Centers and parts for the iconic American brand. HeroMotoCorp is present in South American and African nations and launched Hero brand in Mexico in January 2021 in Partnership with Grupo Salinas. Hero Motorsports Rally Team participates in international competitions including Dakar Rally. In July 2013, HeroMotoCorp acquired 49.2% shareholding in Erik Buell Racing, a motorcycle sport company which produced street and racing motorcycles based in East Troy, Wisconsin, United States. Erik Buell Says He’s Not Involved in the Buell Motorcycles Revival

Although mostly out from the public eye for quite some time now, the name is still entrenched enough in the public consciousness to hint that, had it not been for Harley-Davidson’s poor choices a decade ago, would have been a big player in the industry by now. The revival of the moniker is fueled by the company holding control over it, Liquid Asset Partners (LAP). The comeback was announced by LAP’s Bill Melvin, who hinted at the revival and a flood of no fewer than ten models over the next three years. Those are said to range from dirt to touring bikes, and from dual-sport to cruisers. There’s possibly even an electric two-wheeler in the cards. The official announcement left out any indication of Buell’s founder, Erik Buell, being involved in this. That led to speculation in some circles that the former Harley-Davidson employee might have a role to play. He doesn’t, of course, and made that perfectly clear in an email sent over to Road Racing World. Buell Motorcycles was born in 1983 in Michigan, and by the 1990s, it was already beginning to become part of Harley-Davidson. As usual, the Milwaukee monster messed up a lot over the following decade, and in 2009 it killed Buell as a brand. Erik calls this outcome the result of unwise choices made by Harley’s executives. Having lost Buell, the man moved on to create Erik Buell Racing, but for various reasons, that business failed too, and it eventually crossed over to LAP. Erik Buell launches electric motorcycle brand

Erik Buell is riding back to motorcycle business with Frederic Vasseur of Formula E and F1 fame and entrepreneur, Francois Terny. Buell is all set to launch an electric motorcycle brand called Fuell. Fuell Flow comes in 11kW (125cc-equivalent) or 35kW (A2-licence equivalent) versions and uses a hub motor on the rear wheel to leave space for 50 litres of integrated storage. Fuell claims a city range of 125 miles for the Flow needing charging at a public charger. It carries an American price of $10,995. The Fuell Fluid is an e-bike with a range of 125 miles at 20mph or 28mph versions producing almost 74ftlb of torque from two 500Wh, removable batteries. The Fluid also uses a virtually maintenance-free carbon belt drive system and internal hub gears. Fluid will cost $3295 in America, with financing options for both bikes favouring usage over ownership through credit, leasing or battery leasing. More will be revealed in the coming months, but Fuell claim that deliveries of the Fluid will start in 2019, with the Flow rolling out in 2021. EBR Motorcycles To Wind Down Production—Another American Manufacturer Rides Off Into the Sunset

This is not good news and as supporters of American motorcycle manufacturers, we can’t help but see that the writing is on the wall. This looks like the end for the legendary rogue manufacturer that brought so much to our industry. In a press communication released today, EBR Motorcycles announced it will begin a wind down of production operations commencing next week. EBR will continue to honor warranties and provide technical and parts support to current dealers and riders who bought motorcycles manufactured by EBR. The release also states that EBR will continue to review strategic alternatives with interested investors regarding production operations. The decision was a tough one for EBR as it has been solely focused on the growth and building EBR for success. The team at EBR has worked tirelessly making every effort to build the company. There is no fault on any of the team at EBR for this decision. They and their families have our deepest gratitude for their efforts and dedication to EBR. This difficult decision was based primarily on EBR facing significant headwinds with signing new dealers, which is key to sales and growth for a new company. In addition, EBR has had limited production in 2016 and 2017 that was under goal. The combination of slow sales and industry announcements of other major OEM brands closing or cutting production only magnified the challenges faced by EBR.
