AFT FTR750: Indian Motorcycle crushes competition at Port Royal

INDIAN MOTORCYCLE RACING CRUSHES THE COMPETITION AT THE PORT ROYAL HALF-MILE WITH BAUMAN, VANDERKOOI AND MEES SWEEPING THE PODIUM FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEKEND Win Marks Briar Bauman’s Third of the Season and Closes Championship Chase to 8-points Jarod Vanderkooi Continues to Impress with Back-to-Back Second-Place Finishes Minneapolis, MN. (July 18, 2022) – Indian Motorcycle Racing, presented by Progressive Motorcycle Insurance, had another outstanding night of racing at the Port Royal Half-Mile in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, with Briar Bauman riding unchallenged throughout the 26-lap Mission SuperTwins Main Event to claim his second consecutive victory. In another FTR750 podium sweep, Bauman was joined by privateer Jarod Vanderkooi in second and current points leader, Jared Mees, taking third. In the main event, Bauman was swift off the starting line, getting the hole shot and an immediate lead over Mees, running close behind in second. Despite early attempts by Mees to overtake him, Bauman remained unphased, opening up a gap on Mees and the rest of the field. Bauman led wire-to-wire, ultimately taking the checkered flag for his third win of the season. Meanwhile, Mees was entangled in a heated battle with Vanderkooi for second. With less than a minute and two-laps remaining, Vanderkooi made a bold move, taking the higher outside line to pass Mees and secure his second-place spot on the podium. “Tonight was another incredible night of racing and a testament to the talent and grit of our riders. Considering the restrictions that have recently been imposed on the FTR750, it’s all the more gratifying to sweep the podium for the second consecutive weekend,” said Gary Gray, Vice President Racing, Service & Technology for Indian Motorcycle. “Briar’s [Bauman] incredible will has been on display at these past two events, and as a result, he’s back in the hunt as the […]

Delfast Dnepr Electric Motorcycle Sets Record at Bonneville Speed Week 2021

by Cristian Curmei from https://www.autoevolution.com The current electric movement is extending further than anyone may have previously imagined. One company pushing electric speed limits is Delfast with their most recent speed record setting action at Bonneville Speed Week 2021. If you haven’t heard of Delfast yet, it’s time to catch up as this team is breaking all kinds of barriers. Since the Ukrainian-based manufacturer of e-bikes set a Guinness World Record for “Longest Range” back in 2017, the company has fallen under the attention of many a circle, even providing their EVs to police forces around the world. Their most recent achievement, and one worth the attention, is their newest speed record achievement at Bonneville. Now, they did go out there with an e-bike, but alongside said e-bike, with an electric motorcycle based on a previous Bonneville visitor, the “Dnepr Electric” motorcycle from back in 2018. This bike set the record at 104.78 mph (168.62 kph) in the “A” Omega category. The rider of the vehicle back in 2018 was Serhii Malyk, a Ukrainian racer and multiple title champion that just so happens to love hanging out at Bonneville and kicking up salt on just about anything that’s fast. Ever heard of Dnepr? Well, this Soviet-ran manufacturer’s history began before WWII. However, it wasn’t until 1952 that the company ran full steam ahead. With a design focused primarily on military use, these puppies are still found today, some still sporting the sidecars of their time. What really brought fame to this brand was their attempt in copying an existing motorcycle design, the BMW R-71. Without any apparent documentation, Soviet engineers decided to copy the BMW model. With a 22 hp engine, four speeds, and shaft drive, the Soviet’s named it the M-72. Well, a most recent acquisition of the Dnepr

Team J-Witz Bumps Their Own Record At Bub/Bonneville Speed Trials

Mother Nature really threw racers and spectators a curve at the Bub Motorcycle Speed Trials this year with a massive rain storm that cancelled many passes on Sunday and closed the track on Monday. Once the rains cleared and racing appeared to get back on track, huge cross winds plagued the streamline classes who make it a point not to run with winds of 14 mph or higher. But, Jody Perewitz and Team J-WITZ came to race and with winds bordering on unacceptable the beautiful J-WITZ machine rolled to the start line. Making constant body adjustments to counter wind pressure from the side, Jody made several flawless passes, one at a blistering 196.9 mph while bumping her previous FIM World Record to 189 mph. So once again this frantic beauty has laid down the gauntlet and made it perfectly clear that she is and will be a major contender for years to come. If you’d like to follow the adventures and race schedule for Jody and Team J’WITZ visit www.facebook.com/teamjwitz or www.facebook.com/perewitz.
