Mudflap Girl FXRs, Part 7 My Son’s almost Grip Ace Wired

Click here to read the chapter 6: http://www.bikernet.com/pages/story_detail.aspx?id=10268This is a blast. The year is just starting and shit is flying at us everyday. Gary and the gang from next door delivered enough steel I-beams and C-beams to build a deck, and in two days a gang from Long Beach will deliver a pool table into the Bikernet barracks and gym. And if we are lucky, (today is Wednesday the 3rd of January 2012) we will have all the elements in place to fire my son's Mudflap girl bike on Tuesday, while IKustom films the event for his TV series. We may even have a live Mudflap Girl in the shop. While my Mudflap baby is waiting on a custom Saddlemen seat, ...

Mudflap Girl FXRs, Part 8 Wiring World

Click here to see: Mudflap Girl FXRs, Part 7 My Son's almost Grip Ace Wired Since last time, my Mudflap Girl is still over at Saddlemens waiting on a custom seat, but good news filtered into the shop this week. Next week, we should move forward. Then my son made his dire announcement: "I wanted forward controls," he said. "It's all your fault. I agree with Jesse James, you're nothing but trouble."I struggled with the assembly of his mid controls for months. I kicked the Handy steel lift and stubbed my big toe, knowing full well I stood on the right side of the law, and my son was out to lunch on this issue. But as the dad in this ...

Mudflap Girl Part 3, the Bandit Engine Completed

Click here for: Mudflap Girl Part 2, the Bandit Engine and Spitfire update  It's May 23, 2011, about two months before we roll out to the Badlands. Every year takes on a different character. It's sorta like the new kid on the block. We never know exactly the direction this kid it going to take. Sometimes we can guide him, and sometimes he takes the lead, good or bad. So this year, we seem to be facing a kid who has a pocket full of delaying tactics, and a waiting year seems to be unfolding before me.I'm still waiting for the Harbor Department to build the park across the street. The ground breaking has been delayed from June until November. ...

Mudflap Girl Part 1, the Concept

Life is nuts, or is it just me? Fortunately, we have motorcycles and women to chase. And this year became the year of the Evo, the FXR, and the mudflap girl. I'm scratching the back of my head and wondering how to kick off this build for 2011. There's a lot on the plate this year and it's a tad difficult to explain. First, I must fess up. I'm turning 63 this year and no more riding rigids to Sturgis, or even chasing young broads. Ah, but the adventure continues. It's actually a blessing not to be hassled with women troubles. I'll let my son, who just turned 37, deal with the addiction to soft curves. I'll hide out and ...

Mudflap Girl Part 2, the Bandit Engine and Spitfire update

Back to : Mudflap Girl Part 1a Okay, you have the story behind this build, and Chris Kallas is refining the concept drawing. My engine arrived from the factory, and Eric Bennett immediately noticed the return address, in Viola, Wisconsin. As it turns out, the factory hired the S&S crew to assemble their Evo line of engines. What a natural. I liked that notion all the way around the block. First, it means more American hands in my new engine. Plus, what could be better than to have the best performance engine company on the planet working with the factory on the last and most refined V-twin configuration? For this crew, and lots of riders all over the world, the FXR Evo ...

Mudflap Girl Part 1a

Click here to enter Bikernet free contest area and receive Bikernet Updates. Back to Mudflap_Girl_Part_1_the_ConceptThere's nothing like a Mudflap Girl, so I was intrigued when brothers started building Mudflap Girl products. Mudflap girls are the workingman's escape from constant asphalt treachery, workin' eight hours everyday on a construction site or hauling containers from some dank port to a train depot or concrete distribution center. Where are the girls? There ain't any, but there are Mudflap Girls to remind us of softer times. So we've collected a handful of mudflap girl products from Billy Lane, at Choppers Inc. , 2-wheelers in Denver, Sturgis and Daytona and Nick from New York City Choppers. Then we needed a fitting bike project, and one surfaced. Seems ...
