Narbonne Wins AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Race at New Jersey

Wyman’s Last-Lap Crash Blows XR Showdown Standings Wide Open Shane Narbonne (Teterboro Rams LLC) emerged victorious at the end of a frenetic last lap Sunday to claim his first AMA Pro road racing victory in the Vance & Hines XR1200 series race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, but it was a late crash by championship contender Kyle Wyman that really shook up the series standings with just two races to go in the 2012 season. A seven-rider pack battled for the lead throughout the 12-lap race, with XR Showdown contenders Wyman (KLR Group/Spyke’s H-D), Tyler O’Hara (Bartels’ H-D/Scrubblade), Benjamin Carlson (Suburban Motors H-D) and polesitter Michael Barnes (KLR Group/Spyke’s H-D) in the mix along with Narbonne, Jake Holden (MOB Racing) and Travis Wyman (Harv’s H-D). Just when Kyle Wyman appeared to be perfectly positioned to make a late drafting pass on Narbonne on the final lap to claim his fifth win of the season, he fell victim to a vicious high-side crash just before the main straight that ended his race in spectacular fashion. “That’s the worst wreck I’ve ever had and maybe one of the worst I’ve ever even seen,” Wyman said. “The rear tire folded. That just never, ever happens. I just can’t believe this is the outcome.” Wyman’s misfortune opened the door not only for Narbonne to claim his first career AMA Pro victory, but also threw the race for the XR Showdown wide open, with the top four riders in the standings now separated by only four points with two races remaining in the season. “I didn’t even really know what lap it was, I just went to the front. I didn’t see the white flag, I just went,” said Narbonne. “It’s good to win at my home track. I’ve been working hard for this.” As the highest placed finisher

Coolbeth Rides Factory Harley To Big Win At Knoxville

Coolbeth Bounces Back from Injury to Top an All-Harley Podium in Iowa Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® Factory Team rider Kenny Coolbeth won his first race of the season at the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Championship event on the Knoxville Raceway half mile. Zanotti Racing/Schaeffer`s Harley-Davison rider Jake Johnson finished second, followed by South East Harley-Davidson rider Sammy Halbert, as Harley-Davidson®  XR750 motorcycle racers filled the podium. The win is a big come-back for Coolbeth, who suffered a fractured leg in a race at Lima, Ohio, on June 30 and missed two Twins races before returning to action on Aug. 18 at the Indianapolis Mile. Coolbeth was competitive and finished fifth at Indy despite having not trained on a motorcycle since his injury. At Knoxville, Coolbeth took the lead on a restart and set the pace for the rest of the 25-lap main event to earn his 27th career Grand National win. “The Harley team is really meshing right now,” said Coolbeth. “I felt like we were pretty fast right off the trailer tonight, and then every adjustment we made improved the bike. I got by Mees right after the restart and then my Harley was just hooked up, and I could inch away from those guys. We might be out of the hunt for a championship because of the races I missed, but I think the team will make some more noise before the season is over.” Coolbeth won his heat race to advance to the main, and finished third in the four-lap Dash for Cash sprint bonus race, which was won by Rogers Racing/Blue Springs Harley-Davidson rider Jared Mees. It was Mees leading the pack at the start of the main, with Johnson, Coolbeth and Dodge Brothers Racing/Perry’s Harley-Davidson rider Brad Baker in pursuit. But the race was

Hines Rides Harley V-Rod To First U.S. Nationals Win At Indy

Krawiec Takes a 30-Point Lead and Number-One Seed into NHRA Countdown It took Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines 11 tries to get a win at the NHRA U.S. Nationals, and this year he even had to endure a week-long rain delay. But the sun was out at Lucas Oil Raceway Sunday and Hines rode his Harley-Davidson® V-Rod®  to a final-round win in Pro Stock Motorcycle to capture his first title at the prestigious event. The victory is also the first for the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® team at the U.S. Nationals, and keeps the team undefeated in 10 events in 2012. “This is by far the best event win of my career,” said Hines, a three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion who has now won four times this season and 29 times in his career. “Over the years we’ve had some bad luck and real disappointment here at Indy, but this season it just seems to be coming together for the Screamin’ Eagle team. And it’s extra-special to win here in our home town with our families and people from the shop here to watch.” Undefeated in 10 events this season, the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® team is set to begin the NHRA six-race playoffs, the Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship, with its riders seeded first and second as series points are reset for the top-ten riders contending for the championship. With six wins on the season, Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Ed Krawiec, the defending NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, is the top seed in the Countdown. Hines is the second seed. Hines was the top qualifier for the second time this season and the 32nd time in his career, but it took a 6.861-second Elapsed Time on the final qualifying run on Saturday to claim
