Australia: Ban On Motorcycles Riding In Groups

Three or more motorcycles riding together will face police scrutiny regardless of whether they belong to an outlaw gang under new laws going to State Cabinet today. The move has angered recreational bikers, who have branded them “ridiculous”. Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie yesterday confirmed that riders would not have to be wearing club colors to warrant police attention if they were in groups of three or more riders. But only members of criminal motorcycle gangs would face prosecution under the laws which will make it an offence for them to gather in groups. Mr Bleijie said the legislation would help put an end to bikies’ “annual runs”. “There’s the old saying about power in numbers and these criminal motorcycle gangs try to use their numbers to strike fear in the community,” he said. “Limiting their ability to ride in big groups would make running their criminal enterprises more difficult and it would help prevent the kind of mass intimidation we saw at Broadbeach. It would also ease the disruption they cause during their annual runs.” The draft laws are also expected to include laws to allow police to stop, search and photograph anyone in bikie colors. Countdown To Orange County Choppers Is On

Orange County Choppers, is back on the tube; this time it’s on CMT, with eight-episode premiering Nov. 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series follows Paul Teutul Sr. and his team as they take on the most challenging bike builds of their careers. In each hour-long episode of Orange County Choppers, Senior and his team navigate tight deadlines, lofty egos and all the chaos that emerges from a group of rough and rowdy co-workers, including some of the most outrageous pranks ever. When 23-year-old Evan Favaro is hired as creative director, he has no choice but to hit the ground running. Favaro must earn the respect of his new colleagues and prove he’s worthy of his new position by demonstrating leadership ability and undeniable design and fabrication skills. Highlights • An international client orders a custom “dragon bike” that becomes one of the most intricate builds the team has ever taken on. When a prank goes awry and a piece of the dragon is broken, all hands must be on deck to resolve the problem and finish the bike bon time. • A restaurant commissions OCC to build a giveaway bike; a huge corporate initiative for the company. Pressure mounts when a mechanical problem threaten to keep the bike from being completed by the reveal date. • GAF, the largest roofing manufacturer in North America, orders a bike to present to a veteran on stage at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The team only has two and a-half weeks to design and build a chopper that’s worthy of a Purple Heart recipient.

The Denver Rider’s Rider Won’t Stop until It’s Done! The Bikernet Staff supports the new series of Editor’s Choice bike shows created by Chris Callen of Cycle Source. They were created to give guys an opportunity to meet magazine editors and hopefully get their bikes featured in national magazines. Bikernet was one of the original supporters and the only Internet magazine in the mix. The Broken Spoke folks stepped up and have kindly sponsored this series of shows, even the competition at the Las Vegas Bike Fest in conjunction with the Artistry In Iron Show also sponsored by Cycle Source. At Sturgis Bike Week senior Bikernet Correspondent and tech editor, Rogue was on hand at the Broken Spoke to pick the Bikernet Editor’s Choice recipient and handle the photographic duties. “This is a good example of what a lot of the younger riders are riding,” said Rogue, “and This Bike Is ridden!”  Chris Callen, of Cycle Source and Vincent Stemp, of IronWorks, pointed it out to me, and I thought it would be a good one because if you look closely there is a lot. I arrived just as the judging was going on and the crew was going over the bikes they had picked. -Rogue CLICK HERE TO READ ARTICLE

Krawiec Races Pink V-Rod To Final Round At Maple Grove

With his Harley-Davidson® V-Rod® motorcycle sporting a special Hard Candy Custom Pink Flake livery in recognition of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Ed Krawiec rode to the final round of eliminations at the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. Krawiec lost in the final to Viper Motorcycle Company Buell rider Matt Smith. Krawiec’s run to the finals was his second in four NHRA Countdown to the Championship events and the third for the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines team, including a win in Dallas for Krawiec and one in Charlotte for his teammate, Andrew Hines. Krawiec leaves Maple Grove Raceway in fifth place in the Countdown playoffs, but only 16 points behind Lucas Oil Bull rider Hector Arana Jr. in second place. With the win Smith leads Arana Jr. by 125 points. “I hate to say we are all racing for second, but Smith has a pretty big points lead and a fast bike,” said Krawiec, the defending Pro Stock Motorcycle champion. “We have struggled a lot this season, so it’s satisfying to be getting some good results the past few weeks. Some of the other front-running teams are either taking too many risks or not risking enough. I think our week-to-week consistency is what brings us the success we are having.” Krawiec qualified 11th for event with an Elapsed Time (ET) of 6.993 seconds. Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines had a best qualifying ET of 6.973 and was seeded eighth on the team’s other V-Rod motorcycle. Sovereign-Star Racing Buell rider Michael Ray topped qualifying with an ET of 6.857 seconds. On Sunday, Hines defeated Wyotech Suzuki rider Steve Johnson in the first round of eliminations, but lost to Ray in round two “We put a new rear tire on
