Krawiec Closes In On Fourth NHRA Pro Stock Championship

Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Ed Krawiec took a big step closer to securing the 2017 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship with a final-round win at the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Krawiec can clinch his fourth NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship by qualifying for the elimination rounds at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. on Nov. 8. Riding a thundering Harley-Davidson Street Rod competition motorcycle, Krawiec has now won four of five 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoff events and will hold a 150-point lead when qualifying begins for Pomona. “I told my guys this weekend we just need to stay focused and get through the race,” said Krawiec. “We capitalized on every round and came out further ahead from where we started. The team put me on a great Harley-Davidson Street Rod today. All I had to do was stay on top of it.” Krawiec was the top qualifier at Las Vegas with an Elapsed Time (ET) of 6.936 seconds at 191.76 mph, the 37th time he has topped with qualifying list in his career. Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines, also on a Harley-Davidson Street Rod drag bike, qualified fourth at 6.955 seconds and 193.82 mph. The team’s Street Rod competition drag bikes are based on the Harley-Davidson® Street Rod™ production motorcycle, an agile middle-weight powered by the liquid-cooled High Output Revolution X 750 engine tuned for maneuvering through traffic and congestion. Racing before a sold-out crowd on Sunday, Hines scored a win in the first round of eliminations but lost in round two. BROTHERHOOD AND DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME SUNDAY POST for Oct. 29, 2017

Hey, It’s not thanksgiving but I want to acknowledge something:Friends, brothers and associates. Two things caused me to think about this topic. One, I’ve been thinking about escaping restrictive, congested, California for Deadwood South Dakota. Second, because I am spending more time with my grandson Frank and talking with him about his future plans. Without friends, brothers and sisters, we can’t do a damn thing, so building relationships is critical. I would like to thank all the folks who have helped me do so much over the years. Life just wouldn’t be the creative blast it is without them, their resources and encouragement. Click here to read the rest of the news.   If you need a subscription first, click here.

KEEPING UP BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for October 26, 2017

Hey, The way ahead includes words like relative, technology, Instagram, robots, space, clean air, energy, fossil fuels and computers. Hell, I almost bought a Samsung watch phone yesterday. I get tired of losing my cell phone or trying to find a pocket for it. My point is we’re being pushed in many directions and some are for more human benefit, control, money, the planet, you name it, but everything is happening fast, so it makes us shift gears and attempt to keep up. But like the Monk says from the Gray Mountain. Don’t sweat a thing. Is keeping up good or bad, necessary or evil, competitive or destructive? We will see, very soon… As a brother once told me: Time will tell and shit will smell. Click to check it out… Click here to read the rest of the Bikernet Weekly News.

BIKERNET PROFILE: Bill Dodge

When it comes to the motorcycle industry success is equated to wealth, talent displayed through social media exposure and legacy by the empire you were able to build through one’s business acumen. If this is true then several people integral to the fabric of our custom motorcycle world don’t exist. But, if success can also be equated to ones network of friends, talent displayed through bikes on the road and the reverence inspired in other talented builders and legacy born out of one’s character then my friend Bill Dodge has secured his place as a legend and icon in our industry. Of course, Bill Dodge of Bling Cycles in Daytona Beach, Florida would aggressively spurn any titles or positions thrust on him in any form of praise. He takes great pride in his work but he does so with humility most of us will never have known. Nonetheless, Bill Dodge is a premier motorcycle craftsman, a trend setting designer and a mentor that has spawned more than one extraordinary builder. Click here to read the rest of this story.
