Hey,
I wish I knew where to start. Shit is happening fast and furious. I’m just trying to find two moments to relax and maybe look for 1913 engine shafts. I’m going to put the engine together and then maybe send it to Robb at Retro for a rebuild. Need to find all the little shit first, except the cams and pistons. They have a new formula for early engines. I could touch on a large number of other positive, action-packed topics, but not now. Let’s hit the news.

THE STURGIS MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM’S FIRST INAUGURAL CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE AND FINE ART RAFFLE EXTRAVAGANZA—Sponsored by Bikernet.com
Hey,
This is amazing. We’re kicking off our first Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Raffle effort with two amazing first prizes. The first is an historic chopper built during the Discovery Channel Biker Build-off Series heyday. It’s not any chopper. It was specifically built by the ten greatest builders for the Director, Hugh King on the 10th Anniversary of the show.
In addition to an iconic chopper with all ten signatures pinstriped on the sheet metal, this very rideable hot rod scooter will be the subject of a Danial James fine art oil painting. A hand-embellished giclee and the chopper will be the first prize to be drawn at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum on the last day of the 85th anniversary of the magnificent motorcycle packed Rally in Sturgis on the 10th of August. We may have on hand the original owner and director of the Build-off series, Hugh “the Chopper” King to pull the winning ticket.
More reports coming weekly and we’ll let you know when and where you can buy tickets.
MECUM AUCTION ACTION—

RECENT HISTORY LESSON–
Nikola Tesla registered more than 700 patents in 35 countries of the world, and many of those inventions brought progress and prosperity to mankind. However, Tesla, when he died in New York, was penniless, and if he wanted money he would be one of the richest in the world.
“Scientia potestas est.”
Nikola Tesla 1st Electric Car in 1918 That Regenerate Electricity from the Earth.
This is Nikola Tesla’s 1921 Pierce-Arrow electric car, powered by pure etheric electricity. It is a self-charging car; it does not run on batteries, oil, or gas.
Electric cars have been around much
In 1931, Nikola Tesla presented and tested a new automobile. Tesla had developed it with his own personal funds.
The motor had been removed, leaving the clutch, gearbox and transmission to the rear wheels uninterrupted. The power receiver (gravity energy converter) had been built by Tesla himself. It was installed in front of the control panel.
A heavy antenna, approximately 1.8 meters long, protruded from the converter. This antenna apparently had the function as that of the moray converter (radiant energy!).
“Now we have power,” said Tesla? he said there was enough power in the converter to light an entire house, plus run the car’s motor. The car was tested for a week, reaching a top speed of 144 km per hour effortlessly. Someone commented that no gases were coming out of the tailpipe. Nikola Tesla replied, “We have no motor.”

The 50th Anniversary party will be a massive memorial gathering.

THOUGHT WE SHOULD REVISIT THIS–
As the world seeks cleaner sources of electricity, renewable energy is heralded for not USING fossil fuels period.
However, wind turbines contain moving parts and they require lubricants to operate at peak performance due to environmental and mechanical pressures.
The amount of oil used by a wind turbine varies greatly depending on the size and type of turbine. A small turbine for powering the home only requires a very small amount of oil, whereas the largest offshore wind turbines regularly need topping up with large amounts of oil and other lubricants to keep them running efficiently.
Proper maintenance including the use of oil ensures the reliability of cost-effective wind energy.
As the fleet of wind turbines ages, many are entering a post-warranty period. This means that equipment repairs are becoming more costly for wind farm owners. Thus, proper maintenance including the use of oil to prevent equipment failure is critical to reduce costs and promote renewable energy production.
Lubrication protects wind turbines from premature wear of many critical parts so they operate at maximum performance for greater productivity. Grease oil and grease are used in the gearbox, pitch gear, open gear, and yaw gear.
Did you know every wind turbine contains 80 gallons of oil?
At the moment, the average wind farm has 150 turbines. Each wind turbine requires 80 gallons of oil for lubrication, and this isn’t vegetable oil; this is a PAO synthetic oil based on crude… 12,000 gallons for one 150-turbine wind farm. Once a year, its oil must be replenished.
To power a city the size of New York, it is estimated that about 3,800 turbines would be required… For just one city, that’s 304,000 gallons of refined oil.

THE BIKERNET UPDATE—
As so many of you know, I’m very disappointed in transitioning Bikernet.com to a WordPress Platform. And now we’re facing moving the Cantina over from CMS to WordPress. Here’s the to-do list:
Content Population & SitemapContent migration of the following sections: Cantina Menu
- Bandit’s Bikerpics (104 items)
- Antique Bikes and Motorcycle History (78 items)
- Arcade (5 items)Bandit’s Cantina – The Series (105 items)
- Books (148 items)
- Bikernet Deals and Steals (14 items)
- The Life and Times of Bandit (58 items)
- Knucklebusters – Cantina Style (92 items)
- The Weekend Roundup (1058 items)
- Digitals Discovery (116 items)
- The categories with the number of items listed next to them will be set up as posts with their assigned categories (1778 in total.)
We’ve decided to make the Cantina Free. Of course, there’s another plan in the works to pay the bills, but I can’t let it slip just yet.
So, the question is: How do we make shit happen quick. I’m tired of the site being in limbo.

TIME TO TAKE ACTION—
“Do it now or don’t do it at all. Never Give Up and Never Give In.” –Bandit
“I would rather attempt to do something great and fail than do nothing and succeed.” — Robert Schuller
Do you remember the confidence we had as children—the belief that we could do anything? It was exhilarating to let our imaginations run wild, to dream without limits. We saw ourselves as kings and queens, race car drivers, dancers, adventurers—whatever we wanted to be. When people asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” we answered with certainty, without hesitation or doubt.
That fearless spirit still lives within us. Our dreams and aspirations never truly fade; they wait for us to rekindle them. The power to achieve anything is already within us. As Henry Ford wisely said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” What beliefs are you holding as your truth? Are they your own, or are they echoes of doubt and limitation from the past?
Affirmation for Today:
Reignite my dreams today. With childlike faith, I let go of anything holding me back. I trust that the Universe responds to my positive, joyful intentions. Inspiration flows effortlessly, and new opportunities unfold in my life.
Everything I do prospers. I release old limitations and step boldly into my truth. Today, I embrace new beginnings with excitement and gratitude.
And so it is.
Namaste.

Disregard for riders is evident everywhere. Eventually self-driving cars will take over HOV lanes. The anomaly or motorcycles will push them out of that lane at the same time.
The best safety riders can lean on is their own defensive skills, situational awareness, and proper gear (including public riding attitudes).
The government isn’t here to save us. The sooner we accept that, while still voicing up when there is a clear danger presented (as there is below) the better for us.
Ride on my friends. hashtag#GenXgearhead
ConnectConnect with John Nelson.
It is a sad fact that some lives are less important than others, is all that is wrong with the world. Today I inspected a section of the Koo Wee Rup – Pakenham Road. These pics show a clear disregard for motorcyclists safety when the hype and marketing surrounding these Barrier types are signed off by engineering trained Road Safety Auditors. The gap between the W beam and the rub rail varies a lot. It leaves a gap in which we can have a limb go through and be torn off by the mounting hardware with the forward momentum of the body.
I don’t care about the design philosophy, the manufacturer, the supplier and the installation of this Man Trap. They have made their money. An RSA worth their salt could have, should have picked this up from the start. Approving something that is more dangerous to a particular road user group should be criminal negligence and dereliction of duty to say the least. Engineering of this kind has no place in Road Safety. Litigation will come.

FINALLY!– Snow Outlaws is Back at Rice Lake!
Snow Outlaws snowmobile drag racing series pre-race advance
Event: STM Powersports Snow Outlaws Winter Nationals presented by Rice Lake Tourism
When: January 31-February 1, 2025
Where: Moose Lodge 402, Rice Lake, Wisconsin, USA
Last winter was a disaster for the very expensive and brutally quick snowmobiles of the STM Powersports Snow Outlaws drag racing series, as the entire season was cancelled for lack of ice and snow, but not this year.
Wisconsin’s Rice Lake is frozen over and the Snow Outlaws crew is building their 500 feet snow-packed racing surface as you read this for racing this weekend—January 31 to February 1.
Rice Lake is historically the quickest track in the sport, and the world’s quickest sleds are all set to be quicker than ever.
Six (SIX!) screw-supercharged nitro sleds are set to flame n’ fly when the Outlaw sleds hit the lake. That’s double the number of two years ago in a class that saw the first such combination just three years ago. Nothing beats the smell of nitro in the crisp Wisco air and Rice Lake will see plenty of it, along with cold beers, burgers and fish fry at Moose Lodge #402.
The Hypersports-built “Eagle-1” sled—owned by Chad and Jenny Nyhus and ridden by Dominic Ernst—dominated 2023 and won the championship as a turbo/alcohol sled. But Eagle-1 is now supercharged and on nitro. Will the new combination come out of the trailer as strong as 2023? We’ll see.
Other new nitro sleds include “Sno-Twister” owned and ridden by Matt Musselman and tuned by Jack Romine, and “John Deere,” owned by Justin Oertel and ridden by Austin Oertel.
Returning blown nitro sleds are the OG “Grinch” owned by Jeff Ratzlaff, ridden by Mike Allen and tuned by Howard Haack; “Hulk” owned by Larry Gibas, ridden by Alec Gibas, tuned by Blake Matney; and the “Kawasaki 1400” owned and ridden by Darryl Cuttell, tuned by Aaron Miller.
The Outlaw class will also have the still-competitive turbo entries. Remember, the reigning champ was a turbo. Some of these sleds are mixing in 30% nitro, as the class gets more and more explosive. You will NOT want to miss the Friday night session!
The turbocharged “Black Mamba” is owned and tuned by Aaron Casler and ridden by Ethan Erhardt. The sharp and clean Hogan Racing sled is ridden by R. Dustin and tuned by Adam Dubienczuk. Also expect upstate New York’s Mike Sweeney. Chris Connelly’s “Problem Solver” (tuned by Brad Walker & Jeremy Hannen) will not make the Rice Lake event but will race the remainder of the season.
The Pro Xtreme 55 class will see the likes of ’22 Weenie Roast winner Brian Sullivan and his ethanol-fueled, “John Deere” themed, Hypersports HRC-2. Brian’s brother Corey Sullivan (the defending season champ), ’22 Long Lake winner Casey Ausloos, “Farmall” owned by Chad Nyhus and ridden by Scott Kostman, Mike Sweeney Jr., Samantha Martin, Devin Kirane and more are all expected to race Rice Lake.
Pro Mod racers Kyle Shilts, Casey Rosenbrook, Tyler Stelton, Blake Saltzman, Cole Myers, Josh Bormann and more are all expected to run their evenly matched, competitive sleds.
There’s simply nothing better going on in the Northern Hemisphere this time of year than Snow Outlaws drag racing. Chad and Jenny Nyhus, and the whole Snow Outlaws staff and family can’t wait to fire up on Rice Lake this weekend. Whether you’re racing or watching, you will NOT want to miss this event!
Remember, Snow Outlaws races are always FREE for spectators! Friday qualifying is at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, and 8:00pm. Saturday’s eliminations start at noon with the finals running promptly at 4:00pm.

ABOLISH THE TSA MOVEMENT–
Senator Mike Lee’s call to abolish the TSA comes amid concerns over the agency’s effectiveness and efficiency, highlighted by recent reports of significant failures in security tests.
Lee’s proposal suggests a shift towards airline-managed security, arguing for a potential increase in efficiency by removing government oversight from security screenings.
Critics have pointed out the TSA’s high operational costs, with expenditures reaching upwards of $12 billion annually, adding to the debate on its necessity.
The TSA was established post-9/11 to address vulnerabilities in airport security, but there’s ongoing discussion about whether private firms could perform these roles more effectively.
There’s a broader conversation about government versus private sector roles in security, with some advocating for private screeners due to potential improvements in efficiency and customer experience
From Mike Lee,
Senator Utah,
MIKE MIGHT SEEM OUTLANDISH—
“But there are options. One of my goals is to make flying fun again.
“We don’t need long lines and security guards everywhere. The technology exists to have crowds wander to their flights easily and maybe through a tunnel where they are scanned and never slowed down. Today, the technology exist.” –Bandit

SOMETHING FROM THE OLD TIMERS–
Old timers will remember…Many have posted here about setting gap on points. That’s not what I used cigarette papers for, and in my recollection, the cardboard package was too thin for setting points. What we always used a cigarette paper to set timing.
Step 1) Remove spark plugs
Step 2) Remove top pushrod cover for intake valve
Step 3) Remove timing plug from left engine casing
Step 4) Rotate engine until front intake valve closes and timing mark on flywheel is in center of timing hole
Step 5) Loosen lockdown bolt on magneto or screw on timing plate
Step 6) Place cigarette paper between points and retard timing until paper is snugly held between points
Step 7) Maintain gentle pull on paper while slowly advancing timing
Step 8) As soon as paper loosens and slips out, stop advancing timing
Step 9) Lock down timing mechanism or magneto
Your ignition timing is now perfect! Put everything back together and ride!

SCOTT JACOBS’ EVENTS—
I wanted to share a new program we launched this year.
We started New Release Events to celebrate a release from each Artist throughout the year. There’s food and drinks, as well as music to create a wonderful celebration of art and the creatives behind them.
Olivia: “One January morning in 2023, I set up my tripod at the end of Main Street in Deadwood to capture the heavy snow.
“As I patiently stood outside my car, I noticed a man unloading suitcases from his trunk. I prayed that he’d cross the street to add to the vibe of the scene in front of me. Within seconds, he was crossing the street so I could capture the perfect winter photo of our sleepy Wild Western town!
“I love the way the snow falling adds texture and the colors of the buildings give just enough color to a rather monochromatic image.

SEMA REPORT FROM THE CAPITAL–
After being sworn in as the 47th U.S. President, Donald Trump delivered a key promise using his executive powers to halt federal electric vehicle mandates.
2 Wins for SEMA: A New Era for Technology Choice
President Trump’s action comes on the heels of California’s withdrawal of the state’s request to the U.S. EPA for permission to implement its Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation, which mandates that fleets purchase only zero-emissions trucks in the coming years.
Why this matters: These actions are a win for consumer choice and reinforce SEMA’s momentum and rising political power. A focus on rewarding innovation, ingenuity, and practicality in the marketplace means auto enthusiasts, rather than government officials, will be able to choose the vehicles and parts that meet their needs.
What’s next: California’s withdrawal of ACF and President Trump’s repeal of the federal EV mandate are key steps, but there’s more work to be done to stop California’s Advanced Clean Cars II regulation (ACC II) to phase out internal combustion engines by 2035.
SEMA is urging the EPA to submit the waiver that then-President Biden’s EPA provided to California in December for ACC II regulation to Congress, so lawmakers can utilize their Congressional Review Act authority to invalidate the regulation and pull the plug on California’s EV mandates.
SEMA calls on California to immediately cease and desist the implementation and threatened enforcement of the ACF policy.
The reality – we’re competing for the attention of lawmakers who are being bombarded with hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of ads.
The SAN’s strength is our grassroots program – we need your help making sure we reach everyone in the community. Can you take 30 seconds and share the link below to grow our ranks?

The same team/rider/machinery combination saw Raggio enjoy a breakthrough 2024 campaign in which he emerged as a fully-fledged frontrunner. The Lockeford, California, native entered last season seeking his first career top-ten result and with a best championship ranking of 19th to his name. He ended it with eight top-tens over the season’s final nine races – including a fourth-place run at the Black Hills Half-Mile – to secure sixth in the final AFT Singles presented by KICKER championship order.
Shawn and Clarissa Raggio, owners of Raggio Racing, lead their family’s flat track legacy with unwavering passion and commitment to the sport they love. The squad has been backed by Sluggo Racing, owned and operated by Michael and Anna Dobbs, dating back to Tyler’s amateur days. And they were joined by Greg Settle and UnSettled Racing, who came aboard the effort last season to play an integral role in the year’s highly successful campaign.
Full of confidence and backed by familiar personnel and equipment, Raggio is primed to take another step forward in ‘25 and battle for podiums and race wins.
Tyler Raggio (#55):
“I’m excited to return with the team for a second straight season. There’s been a lot of work going on behind the scenes to better this program for 2025, and I’ve been putting in the work during the offseason. I’m ready to kick off the year in Daytona!
“I’m thrilled to have Sluggo Racing back on board for the 11th consecutive year of my career; this partnership has been a vital part of my journey as a racer, and I am grateful for their continued support. And I’m just as happy to have UnSettled Racing back for the 2025 season. Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of working with UnSettled Racing as a mentor, team manager, and mechanic. The team is made up of some really talented and promising racers, and it has been an honor to work alongside them.”
Shawn and Clarissa Raggio, Team Owners of Raggio Racing:
“Tyler’s relentless determination, speed, and unshakable drive have defined his career, and he’s more ready than ever to prove himself as a true frontrunner this season.
“For us, racing is not just about competition – it’s about family, community, and heart. We’re profoundly grateful for the steadfast support and friendship of Michael and Anna Dobbs of Sluggo Racing, who have stood by us through every twist and turn of their journey. And we are equally excited for the continued support of UnSettled Racing, Holland Racing and ATVs and More as invaluable partners for the 2025 season.”
Micheal and Anna Dobbs, Owners of Sluggo Racing:
“Supporting Raggio Racing has been a privilege. Our partnership with the Raggio family is a testament to the strong bonds within the racing community. For over two decades, we’ve shared this incredible journey, including ten years as Tyler’s dedicated sponsor. It’s been an honor to watch him grow into a phenomenal racer and an inspiring individual, embodying the passion and determination that make this sport so special.”
Greg Settle, Owner of UnSettled Racing:
“I’m honored to have Tyler piloting our 2025 ATVs and More KTM 450. He’s an incredibly dedicated and hard-working young man who spends a lot of his time helping several youth riders develop their skills and grow the sport. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and he has earned the respect and admiration of many in the community.
“We have high expectations for Tyler coming into the season. We’re looking to build off of last year’s performance and be a threat for the AFT Singles championship. I’m confident that he will continue to demonstrate the same level of commitment and excellence that he has shown in the past.”

The minute I wrap the hearty News on a Thursday, more shit flies in the door. I’m trying to kick off Rogue’s book outline this week.
My Grandson just had a plate fired with his art. Crazy. Here’s one of his recent Tattoos.
And here’s a flier for his next show.
Okay, enough family promotion. It’s Whiskey night in Boulder Canyon. Tomorrow I’ll be back in the Museum meeting with the JackPine Gypsies and the Antique motorcycle club of America guys about displays. Then it’s a pow-wow with my Webmaster crew.
I won’t get into next week. It’s nuts already. Rest and be kind and ride fast and safe forever!
