It’s Thursday morning and I’m pondering the massive day ahead. The news is packed. I spent all last weekend working on a fundraising packages for the Museum. Every day I promote efforts to give us the rights to repair and modify our motorcycles. You’ll see in the news the ongoing fight to keep ICE vehicles alive.

You’ll read about the efforts to expand racing at the Sturgis 85th Rally. You’ll dig into Babes rides, the chopper ride to Mexico and Tim Hailey will keep us abreast of Drag Racing action.
It’s a riot, we’re doing it all, yet there is a political party dedicated to ending the use of fossil fuels, hell they want to end families, home ownership and your business. And they want to censor you if you speak out against them.

Here’s the riot. They have spread their hatred all over the world, but it won’t ever work. Why? Because we are still doing our thing, everywhere, every week, every weekend. Folks like freedom, honesty and integrity.

At the end of the day Freedom, Honesty and Integrity will win out.
Let’s hit the news, quick:

The News was provided by the Bikernet Team including: Wayfarer, the Redhead, Bob T. Sam Burns, Laura, Barry Green, El Waggs, J.J. Solari, Amy White, Jenn and the rest of the crew.
The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, BorntoRide.com and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.

EL DIABLO RUN DETAILS–
Mexico is now enforcing the need for an “FMM” Mexican Tourist Card. This is an old rule that we’ve usually just blown off for quick trips like the El Diablo Run. Those days are over for now and if you don’t want to get turned around at best or end up in jail and your bike disappeared, take the time to get one.
Here’s how it works, pull through the border crossing in Mexicali and walk back to the border area where there will be an office with a walk-up window. Go to that window with your passport and vehicle registration. The fee “should be” free for a 7-day FMM, but bring some Pesos just in case. We can’t predict whether you will be able to use a credit card or not and they obviously won’t want US dollars, so stop before the border and get some Pesos.
Once you get your FMM, keep it on you at all times. We have been told that there is a checkpoint near San Felipe where this is getting checked. It’s likely you’ll go through the hassle and expense and never have to show it, but what if that’s not the case? Welcome to Baja, and personal risk management.
You can get more info here, FMM MEXICAN TOURIST CARD, but we’ll warn you that online FMM’s have been unreliable according to some friends who live in Baja, and you’ll still have to stop to have it stamped at the border.

BIKERS INSIDE THE BELTWAY – Grassroots Activism At Its Best
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) and your State Motorcycle Rights Organization (SMRO) are committed to protecting the future of motorcyclists’ rights, with Calls-to-Action, educational workshops and showing up where it counts. The quest for freedom can never rest and the voice of the MRF will not be silent.
The challenging work is never done. However, appointments with members of Congress are being confirmed, briefing packets and position papers are ready, all that is needed is for you to help make it happen. You and motorcyclist constituents like you make a difference when you show up on Capitol Hill.
Legislative successes like the Anti-Profiling Resolution passed in 2023 became realities because motorcyclists’ rights advocates made it happen. HR 1566 & S 1379, legislation supporting the Right to Repair & Modify will also become a reality through the actions of freedom-loving motorcyclists.

STRESS NO MORE– Peace is My Path
“The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” — William James
How much energy do we give to stress?
Have you ever truly paused to consider how much time and vitality we waste focusing on problems rather than seeking solutions?
How often do we spend our precious energy worrying — about finances, health, relationships, work, what others think, the past, regrets, aging — and the list goes on?
It’s no wonder stress is cited as one of the leading causes of illness. I believe it — because where our focus goes, our energy flows.
As I often remind myself: we always have a choice.

As William James so wisely said, “The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.”
Today, I invite you to pause throughout your day and take inventory of your thoughts:
Are they positive or negative?
Focused on solutions or trapped in problems?
Joyful or stressful?
Do you truly have Faith that you are One with the Divine — and that every solution already exists within you?
Today, it’s time to consciously choose thoughts that lift us higher.

Today, Affirm:
“As I move through this day, I pause often to become aware of my thoughts.
I release any thoughts of stress, doubt, or fear and replace them with Peace, Harmony, Joy, and Faith.
I expect Good to unfold in every area of my life.
I trust that the Divine within me casts out all fear and removes all doubt.
Knowing it all begins in my mind, I prepare for my Good to unfold in right and perfect order.”
Today, my Faith fills my soul with a deep knowing that all is unfolding perfectly.
I am blessed with Peace, and I claim it as my Divine inheritance.
I am Grateful that I have the power to choose the life I want to live.
I go within, to that sacred place above all fear and stress, and feel the Infinite Peace and Harmony of God filling my being.
Today, I move forward with a smile in my heart, trusting that my Good is manifesting in new and wonderful ways!
And So It Is.
Namaste.
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” — Buddha

AN UPDATE FROM SENATOR JOHN THUNE–
Thank you for contacting me. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you may know, the California Air Resources Board has requested several clean vehicle waivers under the authority of the Clean Air Act to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule granting these waivers earlier this year, which will require 100 percent of vehicle sales in California’s market to be zero-emissions by 2035, effectively banning new internal combustion engine vehicles.
On April 4, 2025, S.J. Res. 45 was introduced in the U.S. Senate. If enacted, this resolution of disapproval would repeal the rule granting these waivers. A similar resolution (H.J. Res. 88) of disapproval has also been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Under the Biden administration, I had concerns with the restrictive regulations on car and light truck emissions, which amounted to a de facto mandate that two-thirds of new vehicles sold by 2032 must be electric vehicles (EVs). This was an unrealistic and dangerous policy goal given the significant expense for American families to purchase EVs, and our electric grid’s inability to support such a sudden increase in electricity demand stemming from EVs. On January 20, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order, “Unleashing American Energy,” to revoke the Biden administration’s de facto EV mandate, promoting and protecting consumer choice in vehicles.
While I will continue to support renewable energy and increased energy efficiency, they must be responsibly leveraged as components of an all-of-the-above energy policy. This also includes meaningful consideration of biofuels, which contribute significantly to emissions reductions and serve as an important market driver for farmers. A genuine, comprehensive energy policy would put the United States on a path to a more secure energy future. As a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, I have worked with my colleagues to protect consumers from executive overreach and will continue to advance solutions that embrace all available energy technologies to ensure a reliable, affordable, and secure energy future.
As Congress considers these resolutions of disapproval, I will be sure to keep your concerns in mind. If you would like additional information on my activities in the Senate, please feel free to visit my website, https://www.thune.senate.gov. You can also follow me on X, formerly known as Twitter; Facebook; and Instagram (@LeaderJohnThune). Please keep in touch.
Kindest regards,
John Thune
United States Senator

HERE’S MY RESPONSE–Let me know what you think?
Senator John Thune,
Thanks much for responding regarding SEMA’s efforts to turn back EV mandates and ICE Bans, but there’s a bigger effort afoot. Every blue program is designed to destroy America from Climate Doom, to turning kids against their folks, Woke, DEI, immigration, anti-cop, destroying our economy, drug use, homelessness, city crime, censorship, you name it.
So, how do we make America whole again? Do we deal with each corrupt element one at a time, expose it and jail the bad players?
I see it as dual front. We must break the back of this movement and expose it. But we must also return confidence to the average American and end the anxiety.
Can we have a government based on truth, integrity and support for the law-abiding citizens?
The key may be how we tell the story to the public. Instead of political talking points the public deserves to know the truth.

UPDATE– Autonomous Vehicles
NHTSA Changing Rules For Domestic Car Makers
Thursday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it is updating rules to allow domestically produced autonomous vehicles to qualify for exemptions from U.S. auto safety standards previously offered only to imports. NHTSA will continue to require car makers and other companies to report crashes involving self-driving systems while loosening some reporting requirements.

NHTSA Chief Counsel Peter Simshauser said of the move that NHTSA is “Actively engaged in developing a multi-faceted regulatory framework for vehicles with automated driving systems.”
It is still too early to know how these changes will impact motorcyclists. However, the move does signal a push by the Trump Administration to remove previous restrictions on self-driving vehicles. For the last decade, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) has been raising concerns that this new technology may be unable to recognize and react to motorcyclists. Now more than ever, the MRF will remain vigilant, work with our partners on Capitol Hill and fight to protect the safety of everyone on our national roadways.

EDUCATING KIDS ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF CO2–
Chloe the Clownfish – Life on the Great Barrier Reef is Good and Getting Better!
New Book Just Published by CO2 Coalition
We are proud to announce the publication of the first book in our new educational “Sleep Well” series of illustrated children’s books. It has already achieved the status of Amazon #1 New Release in Children’s Environment & Ecology!
Chloe the Clownfish Sleeps Well is a delightful read and brilliantly illustrated. Kids will readily identify with Chloe’s concerns and confusion about the demise of the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Parents can appreciate Chloe’s relief after learning simple scientific facts about the health of modern coral reefs. Those scientific facts correct the doomsday misinformation that has been causing Chloe, and so many children worldwide, the needless anxiety of a false climate crisis. I promise Chloe the Clownfish will become a favorite bedtime story. In addition, a three-page postscript provides verifiable facts for adults, so parents can also sleep well knowing their children are getting the best science possible.
Note: We worked in collaboration with one of the top Great Barrier Reef (GBR) experts, Dr. Peter Ridd of Australia, to make sure we got our facts right.

RIDE WITH US–Aftermarket Retailing Giant Comoto Partners with Industry’s Market Expansion Initiative
The MIC and Ride With Us, the industry’s market expansion initiative, are partnering with aftermarket retailing giant Comoto and its brands – Cycle Gear, RevZilla, J&P Cycles, and REVER – to help break down common barriers for people interested in motorcycling. The collaboration aims at leveraging Comoto’s massive reach across motorcycling groups nationwide to assist new riders in obtaining licenses, understanding safety gear and technology, and finding their own riding communities.
“The Ride With Us campaign is designed to make motorcycling more accessible by providing non-riders with hands-on opportunities to experience the excitement of riding,” explained Steve Bontempo, Chief Marketing Officer of Comoto and President of RevZilla and J&P Cycles. “Through this partnership with the MIC, we’re empowering new riders with the resources, education, and confidence they need to get on two wheels and join the riding community.”
The campaign’s welcoming, inclusive tagline, “What does a motorcycle rider look like? Exactly like you,” underscores that motorcycling can appeal to many people. The Ride With Us campaign will connect those curious about motorcycling to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s RIDE Day program, where non-riders can try riding a motorcycle at an MSF-certified range with training motorcycles, gear, and coaching provided. The campaign also provides a six-part video series covering the fundamentals of riding, comprehensive guides on earning a motorcycle license in every state, and links to MSF education courses.
The partnership also engages experienced riders through its Recruit a Rider program, encouraging them to introduce friends and family to motorcycling. Cycle Gear will further support Ride With Us through Bike Night events where people can learn more about motorcycling, and by hosting three Ride With Us Moto Intro events this year, providing free hands-on riding experiences for non-riders, with bikes, gear, and coaching provided. The entire experience, from gearing up the riders, to the coaching, riding, and post-ride gear-down, takes about 30 minutes. The first Moto Intro event is set to take place in May in Georgia.
“We’re very excited for this partnership because it connects all the dots for those looking to get into riding, providing a turnkey process to explore motorcycling,” said Cinnamon Kernes, MIC Vice President of Market Expansion. “With Comoto’s network of stores, online retail sites, and huge content subscriber base, to the training the MSF community can provide, to the MIC’s resources and dealer connections, we will be able to inspire more people to ride and help smooth the journey for them. Growing powersports requires collaboration, and we’re excited to be working so closely with Comoto on this highly visible project, which can help benefit our entire industry.”
Motorcyclists and those interested in learning to ride can get involved by visiting Cycle Gear’s Ride With Us web page to sign up for classes, attending a Cycle Gear Bike Night, or joining the Cycle Gear mailing list through its website to receive more information on the Recruit a Rider program.

ALL KIDS RIDE UPDATE–
Did you know the League of American Bicyclists recently recognized All Kids Bike as a national Leader in Youth Bicycle Education?
And there’s more good news: according to the latest Impact Report from the PeopleForBikes Foundation, youth ridership (ages 3–9) grew by 9% in 2024! We believe this exciting progress is directly connected to the efforts of programs like ours—and the passionate ambassadors like you who help drive them forward.
Your role as an ambassador is fueling a nationally recognized movement that’s transforming the future of bike education and empowering the next generation of riders.
With May being National Bike Month, and there’s no better time to rally together and get more kids on bikes!
As an All Kids Bike Ambassador, you already know how powerful learning to ride a bike can be for a child—confidence, freedom, independence, and fun all rolled into one. But right now, we have many schools fundraising and not nearly enough donors to help them reach their goal.
So we’re asking: Can you help us get more kids rolling? Here are three simple, impactful ways to make a big difference this month:
Host a Community Bike Ride Fundraiser
Think of it like a 5K—but on bikes!
Pick a school that’s actively fundraising
Charge a small entry fee or encourage donations
Make it fun and family-friendly
We’ll help you by:
Designing signage
Creating a custom QR code to the school’s fundraising page
Promoting your ride on our channels
It’s a great way to raise money, spread awareness, and get your community moving—all in one event!
Share a Fundraising School on Social Media
If hosting an event isn’t possible, that’s okay—social support makes a big impact too!
Pick a fundraising school
Post their story on Facebook or Instagram
Ask your followers to donate as little as $10
Include the donation link + a few heartfelt words
Even just one post can help a school gain the momentum they need to meet their goal.
Schools Currently Fundraising
Encourage Schools to Apply for All Kids Bike
Do you know a school that would love this program? Let’s get them rolling too!
Encourage PE teachers, principals, or parents in your network to apply for the All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program. Here’s what they’ll receive:
- Full Teacher Training and Complete Learn-to-Ride Curriculum with 8 lessons
- Access to the Teacher Portal + Program Support
- 24 Strider Balance Bikes
- 24 Pedal Conversion Kits
- 24 Fully Adjustable Helmets
- 2 Metal Rolling Storage Racks to store all student equipment
- 1 Teacher Instruction Bike with Pedal Conversion Kit + Helmet
Every school that applies brings us one step closer to a future where every child in America learns to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class.

DOG BIKER BOOK OF THE WEEK–“Harley Done Gone” -Tales of Devotion, Loyalty, and True Love
By Catherine Brooks-Palmer “Katmandu”
SUBMISSIONS WANTED
My Barefoot Contessa aka Tess would sit for hours while he (my husband biker dude ) worked on his panhead, changing this, tightening up that. She loved the sounds of our bikes and the blue skies just outside her double-car garage door. No lease or tie down needed. She’s on the cover in front of the 1957 Panhead that put me through college. She’s been gone for fifteen years. I shelved this project for years, it’s time to share. Please consider joining me on this dedication to love.
I am seeking tributes of that one special dog, who to this day, takes you right back to a parts-packed garage, a bonfire, or a special way they were there for you. They are the last ones in the garage with you. Possibly the only other soul all day, who will sit patiently, being there for you. (Most girlfriends and wives won’t do that.) It is not about the dogs riding on the tanks, in the side car or a box tied on a sissy bar. There will be some special dog stories of those brave souls and their bikers. It’s about a bond with your dog that you continue to think about to this day.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE to my book (which is now, finally, in the publication process), send an email to katmandu74@bellsouth.net. Use HDG in the subject line. I will send you the information packet, photo guidelines, and a writing sample. Social media platforms scramble the text.. Include a phone number and mailing address. I will send you mine. I will never share personal information. Think of it as a tomato soup for the biker soul.

TEXAS WEATHER REPORT–
I sat outside on the porch all day yesterday on my birthday, just waiting for that delivery truck to arrive with the Dicey Knuckle but it never showed up. Maybe today? I did take the RP out for my birthday ride, it and my New Year’s Day ride are traditions.

And to see how it felt taller, had to go to 10” as the speedometer cable couldn’t clear the top part of the fairing without trying to rip it out. Of course now I’ll probably need another Clearview windshield to move the wind up some more. Maybe I’ll get lucky again, that 8” was like 1/2 price as it has a blemish somewhere? And what you buy yourself at 65, I don’t mess around them little bottles!

I got the second eye PVD on Easter, the retina doctor said it hasn’t damaged the retina. Then added yet, oh joy! First one I got a retina tear and detachment, which involved the question “How much pain can you stand?” during the repair.
But that’s the price paid for being a blonde haired, blue eyed, biker babe! Since PVDs are usually uneventful for the rest of the world. Still not a hip replacement level issue, hope it’s going well!
Is there a tracking number or something on the DK?

SUPREME COURT COULD SPELL THE END– For California’s EV Mandate
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments Wednesday in a landmark case that could spell the end of California’s Clean Air Act waiver, which created what has been widely referred to as a de facto electric vehicle (EV) mandate in more than a dozen states.
While Diamond Alternative Energy v. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not directly center on the legality of the waiver, the court’s ruling on whether the petitioners have standing in the case could set a “massive” precedent, creating an opportunity for President Donald Trump’s administration to “balance” the emissions standards set by “extreme climate policy,” energy experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation. The elimination of California’s Clean Air Act waiver could lead to greater freedom for consumers and cheaper vehicle prices in the state, the District of Columbia and in the 17 other states that follow aspects of California’s emissions standards, the policy experts said.
“The entire future of the auto industry, and what kinds of automobiles people are allowed to buy, what choices they have … All of that is at stake in this ruling, in this court case,” Myron Ebell, former senior fellow and director for the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute told the DCNF. “Now we finally are at the point where we can win this debate.”
States are generally held to the EPA’s standard of emissions, though they can choose to follow the more strict California standard instead under the 1970 Clean Air Act. According to the law, only California is allowed to request a waiver from federal vehicle emission standards, permission which was granted to address “extraordinary conditions” in the state, such as poor air quality.
“The Los Angeles Basin has intractable air pollution problems, and it’s not just caused by people,” he said. The Golden State has received several waivers to enforce different emissions standards for vehicles over the years, he noted, as the Los Angeles Basin traps emissions due to its topography. The case now before the Supreme Court examines whether petitioners, like Diamond Alternative Energy which is a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation, have the legal standing to challenge the EPA’s 2022 decision to reinstate California’s waiver for stricter vehicle emissions standards under the Clean Air Act. Under former President Joe Biden, the EPA reinstated the 2013 waiver which the first Trump administration partially withdrew in 2019. The EPA on Feb. 14 announced that it would be “transmitting to Congress the Biden administration’s rules granting waivers that allowed California to preempt federal car and truck standards,” and Republican lawmakers have since sought ways to repeal the state’s ability to create the de facto EV mandate.
A court decision in favor of Diamond Alternative Energy could upend California’s ability to foist its emissions standards on the nation, and would allow other companies that represent key oil and gas producers to challenge the EPA’s other regulatory actions. The petitioners further argue that the California standard pins an unfair burden on fuel producers, which would lose business as a result of regulators’ push for EVs, and that they should have the standing to challenge it in court. A lower court previously ruled that the petitioners lack the standing to challenge the EPA’s waiver grant.
The lawsuit notes that the EPA has granted at least 75 waivers to California under the Clean Air Act since its inception.
“If California gets away with having the waiver, they are in control of our entire automobile transport policy,” Ebell told the DCNF.

THERE’S MORE–
Here’s an odd one. There ain’t no Turquoise in South Dakoka, but we ran into a guy who makes Turquoise Jewelry and we’re beginning to learn about where he gets his stones and coral. You’ll see his craft in the Emporium on Main during the rally.

My grandson and his fiance are about to have a little girl and he took on opening a tattoo parlor on Melrose in Los Angeles. Here’s a shot of his shop in an Alley in Venice.

He had a buddy who dropped the ball on the Melrose shop, so he’s off to the races refurbishing the new facility right in the center of town.

Kenny makes classic silver jewelry for the Booze fighters, the Uglies, HA and is working on a piece for the Hamsters. If you need classic handmade quality jewelry for your group he can be reached at 760-224-1288, Silver Skull jewelry.

Micah picked up this 90-inch Shovelhead from the Teresi estate. This bike was build around a spare engine from the Easyriders Streamliner, but it’s missing some parts. The girls at the Museum are searching.

Hopefully that’s it. We just replaced the windows in the emporium and then the roof leaked. We are doing so much work on the inside the Redhead started to panic.

Okay, so we’re buried in insurance hell, working out the details. She want’s to tarp the entire woof until the new membrane roof is installed. i don’t know what I think about a roof with interior padding that soaks up water. That’s bullshit. I say we carbon fiber the entire roof, or how about fiberglass. Jesus. Let me know if you know anything.
In the meantime, ride fast and free forever.
