Hey,
I need to hit it to Rapid City and visit with my cardiologist who I’ve never met. Thursdays are my favorites. I get to focus solely on the motorcycle industry and everything two-wheeled going on all over the world, except today.
This was a strange one. I had no choice but to take this appointment in the middle of the day about an hour away. I collect news all week long and then bury myself in it on Thursdays. Tomorrow is check in for the Black Hills show. Doesn’t look like the VLXAFL is going to make it.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum is in the process of replacing their roof. The Harley factory is trying to replace the CEO and save the company. The President is trying to save Freedom, truth and integrity all over the world.
I’m also replacing the roof on the Emporium in Sturgis to save the building for the Art Show coming up. I’m also trying to save the Easyriders Brand with the help of brothers and sisters, but it’s not easy.
I watched an interview with the Assistanc Attorney General for Civil Rights. She explained the gangster tactics being used against cities and police departments all over the country. Cities were forced to pay DOJ officials one million a year to play a racist game in each city. If someone complained about the salary, the city would face additional restrictions in their onerous Consent Degrees. Ah, but with her help it’s unraveling. Hang on for this. The mayor of Chicago bragged about hiring only blacks. That’s racist, oops. He may be forced to pay reparations to the whites, Asians and Hispanics he discriminated against… Hang On!
Whacky times. As truth and integrity resurfaces we will see immediate change, but in the meantime watch your back.
Let’s hit the news, quick:

The News was provided by the Bikernet Team including: Wayfarer, the Redhead, Bob T. Sam Burns, Laura, Barry Green, El Waggs, J.J. Solari, Amy White, Jenn and the rest of the crew.

BIKERS INSIDE THE BELTWAY–May 21, 2025 – Washington, DC
This week, bikers from across the nation descended on Capitol Hill. The 2025 Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s (MRF) Bikers Inside the Beltway was the largest in the 16-year history of the event! Motorcyclists from 32 states made the trip to Washington, D.C., to advocate for issues that matter to the street rider.
The list of policy concerns was long! Issues include: The Right to Repair, Preserving the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Profiling of Bikers, Autonomous Vehicles, Ethanol Mandates and the Definition of a Motorcycle.
All 435 members of the House of Representatives and 100 Senators received an informational packet from the MRF for the third consecutive year. The packet explains who we are, what we’ve done, and what we want. From Alabama to Wyoming and all the states in between, the MRF knocked on doors and shared our legislative priorities.
The 200+ bikers who came to Washington, D.C., represented a diverse set of groups. State Motorcyclist Rights Organizations (SMRO), National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM), Sustaining Clubs and the National Council of Clubs (NCOC) were all represented as part of the MRF event.
Showing up matters. While it is important that lawmakers hear from us, it is also important they see us. Every year, a buzz occurs on Capitol Hill when hundreds of bikers roam the halls of Congress. The visual of so many motorcyclists united for a common cause is a powerful part of the annual event.
While bikers were meeting with Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota, he shared news regarding a key legislative priority for the MRF, Preserving the Internal Combustion Engine. That day, Leader Thune would announce, on the floor of the U.S. Senate, his intention to hold a vote on the repeal of waivers granted to the State of California, which allow the state to set their own emissions standards and mandate that nearly 2/3 of all new vehicles sold in the state be electric by the next decade.
The MRF is committed to being your voice in Washington, D.C. We have had a presence in town since 1986 and we are not going anywhere! We are and will remain, the voice of the street rider in our nation’s capital.
Thank you to all the motorcyclists who made the journey to D.C. It is never too early to start planning for the next installment of Bikers Inside the Beltway in May 2026.
Did you miss the event in D.C.? You can still help reach Congress by responding to our calls to action below!

RED ALERT: DC ENVIRO GROUPS SAY SENATE MAY NOT HAVE THE VOTES TO REPEAL THE EV MANDATE
FIRST, they got Biden to go around Congress and sign a backdoor GAS ENGINE BAN with California calling the shots.
THEN, they claimed it was too late for Congress to REPEAL THE MANDATE when the House voted two weeks ago.
NOW, they’re saying the Senate rules stop them from DOING THEIR JOB and protecting our businesses.
The madness has got to end right now – the future of this great country hangs in the balance.
So before the end of the day, we’re calling on our absolute best supporters to rise up, send a Letter to Congress, make sure the American people get HEARD.>>

THE THREE PAISANOS—
Three men started a publishing company in 1970. Their first publications were to copy the Harley-Davidson Panhead Manual and the first copy of Easyriders Magazine. Both kicked ass.
Joe Teresi and Mil Blair were similar in stature. Maybe Mil was slightly taller than Joe. Joe always had a weight problem and was generally sorta round.
Lou Kimzey was thick in a soft way, with a full head of wavy salt and pepper hair and full beard. He was over six feet tall.

The motorcycle was built for Armond Bletcher a bully, bouncer, bill collector from Fresno. It’s a Shovelhead top end on top of a Knucklehead lower-end. It’s housed in a raked Harley wishbone frame with an extended Harley Springer.

FINALLY, THE BANDIT’S CANTINA BAD JOKE LIBRARY REOPENS– A couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back & inform the other if there is life after death. Their biggest fear was that there was no after life at all.
After a long life together, Frank was the first to die.
True to his word, he made the first contact:
“Kris, Kris, can you hear me?”
“Is that you, Frank?”
“Yes, I’ve come back like we agreed.”
“That’s wonderful! What’s it like?”
“Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex, I have breakfast and then it’s off to the golf course. I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple of more times..
Then I have lunch (and Kris, you’d be proud — lots of greens).
Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon. After supper, it’s back to the golf course again.
Then it’s more sex until late at night. I catch some much needed sleep and then the next day it starts all over again.”
“Oh, Frank! Are you in Heaven?”
“No — I’m a Jackrabbit somewhere in Arizona.”

SPEECH FIRST–
It’s been a two-year battle, but it was worth fighting – and your support helped Speech First see this lawsuit through to victory.
Yesterday, Speech First secured a major victory in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals against Texas State University’s attempt to evade responsibility for their unconstitutional speech policies.
The court decisively rejected TSU’s cynical strategy of quietly rewriting their rules mid-lawsuit to escape accountability.
Now every college and university in America knows that those of us who care about free speech rights on campus won’t let such behavior slide.
What makes this win especially significant is how it exposes the tactics universities use to silence dissent.
TSU only moved to change their unconstitutional policies after Speech First filed suit – proving that legal action, backed by supporters like you, is often the only way to force universities to respect the First Amendment.
By helping Speech First secure this court decision, you’ve ensured that students’ fundamental free speech rights are protected by judicial precedent – where no Congress or administration could strip them away.
This battle may be over, but others are sure to follow. I look forward to fighting alongside you wherever students’ free speech rights are at stake.

Well, as I promised here is another one of my new pieces for the 85th Rally that I’ve been busy putting together and painting, a piece I am very proud of Titled “UNTOUCHABLE”. Not only for the awesome painting that it is, but most of all my inspiration for the painting.
I wanted to do something really special this year for the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum to show my appreciation for what they represent. The history that they are dedicated to making available to everyone that walks through the doors. I don’t think there is anyone that can walk through the doors of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and not help but relate to something in there. There is going to be something in there that will either put a smile on your face as it takes you down memory lane or for the younger crowd it will surely have them wishing they could have been part of that vintage era, all while they are making their own memories that someday may be displayed in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.
I have gifted the Original painting to the Raffle for the 85th anniversary. All Proceeds will go +-directly to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum, a 501 c3 not-for-profit organization. Please help me help the Museum by purchasing 1 or more raffle ticket(s) for a nominal fee of $10.00 each ticket. By purchasing 1 or more tickets you will have the chance to win any of the following prizes. My Danial James 85th Anniversary Original Painting Titled “UNTOUCHABLE, a Polished S&S High Performance Evo Crate Motor donated by Easyriders Magazine, A Never before seen or published David Mann giclee print featuring the World’s Fastest Easyriders Streamliner, One of my Danial James 85th Anniversary Limited Edition Art Posters, A Museum Membership or some 85th Anniversary Bling. You can purchase your tickets online at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum website at sturgismuseum.com. Or call the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum at 605-347-2001.

Then again, if you are waiting until you get to Rally you can purchase your tickets at the Museum or stop on by Bandit’s 5 Ball Emporium where my artwork is Exclusively Displayed at 1008 Main Street, Sturgis, and possibly have the opportunity to meet Author and Motorcycle Legend Keith Ball or Myself and purchase your tickets there.

Come on in and check out all my other Artwork to include Originals and prints, If you don’t win the Original you can always stop by Bandits and order a print along with shop for Jewelry, Antiques, Motorcycles, Motorcycle Parts, Books written by Keith Ball, etc. You can also visit my website at Danialjamesfineart.com to order a print. Please read the above flyer on the Really Raffle for rules and regulations. One last thing is you don’t need to be present to claim your prize if you win. The drawing will be on August 10th at the Museum. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone this year. Whatever your mode of travel to Rally is, I wish you safe travels.
–Danial

BIKERNET READER COMMENT–I have been a consumer of Harley-Davidson since 1978.I bought my first Lowrider way back then. I have bought parts and paid for service since then. I see that you see the future of the industry but that does not mean you sell all the consumers down river just to make a mass profit. I am thinking of investing in stock to help the industry. Bikers have supported your every move going all the way back to the AMF. support of the Harley name. I write stories of my experiences and friends experiences. Please do what you have to do to survive the product shake up, Thank you.

Saturday is Everything Custom at revised
- 2025 Budweis Custom Show
- New format to be more accessible to builders from grassroots to professional
- People’s Choice award to celebrate the universal appeal of custom motorcycles
- Open invitation to enter a custom build with registrations now open
- The only international custom bike show dedicated exclusively to Indian Motorcycle
- Official American Motorcycle Dealer 2025-approved status
Indian Motorcycle and the organizers of the Indian Riders Fest have announced a revised format to make the Budweis Custom Show (BCS) more accessible to first builds and grassroots garage projects as well as high-end professional creations. Alongside this more inclusive and invitational approach, the People’s Choice award has also been introduced to celebrate the wide-reaching appeal of custom motorcycles that extends beyond riders to anyone who values design, craftsmanship, and freedom.
“Every year, the standard of customs at the BCS is exceptional. We’ve seen a lot of outstanding, professional builds, which is awesome. But we wanted to broaden the Budweis Custom Show, make it more accessible, make it more invitational and open the show up to grassroots and garage builders,” explains Ola Stenegärd, Director of Product Design for Indian Motorcycle.
“The whole custom scene for Indian Motorcycle is exploding, and to see all this creativity, to see this fire for customizing, is amazing. Walking around the Indian Riders Fest, I saw plenty of personalized bikes with awesome paint, there were so many bikes that deserved to be on that stage but weren’t entered. These owners had ridden to the event, and they wanted to keep riding throughout the long weekend. These bikes weren’t just trailer queens, and that’s exactly what we want in the custom show. It was clear that having the customs in a display hall all weekend was holding these riders back from entering the BCS.”
Ola Stenegärd has been in regular contact with Jean-Marie Guyon, organiser of the IRF and BCS, since last year’s event to discuss opportunities to make the show more accessible to everyone while taking advantage of the festival’s relocation for the 2025 edition.
“Ola’s feedback and experience have been invaluable to the improvements we’ve made for this year’s Budweis Custom Show,” commented Jean-Marie Guyon. “And it’s the reason we’ve concentrated the BCS into one day, making Saturday everything custom and freeing up the bikes to be ridden for the rest of the event.”
“The other major thing we talked about is to make it a family fest, ensuring everyone can come and see these incredible creations on the Saturday. We’re taking advantage of the stunning new location to provide an open platform to display these amazing bikes in the marina and welcome everyone from the surrounding area into the custom show, free of charge. Bringing the sights and sounds of these customs to life, and as part of the rules that the customs must be rideable, there will also be a custom bike parade on Saturday along the waterfront to showcase every build to the crowd.”
“And this is where the new People’s Choice award comes in,” continues Stenegärd. “It’s a custom fest. It’s a family fest. It goes beyond the motorcycle scene. We want to bring people into the show who might not normally think about motorcycles and have an opportunity to see the outstanding craftsmanship and all the blood, sweat and tears that go into building a custom bike.
“Everyone can vote for their favourite bike. The people from the village can come and vote. The people from the city can come and vote. The kids can come and vote. It doesn’t matter if you’re four years old or 90 years old. You can cast that vote.”
Alongside the new People’s Choice award, bikes in the Budweis Custom Show will be judged in five classes are designed to ensure that every participant has an opportunity to showcase their unique style and creativity. The classes are as follows:
- Indian Scout
- Indian, Non-Fairing
- Indian Touring (incl. Baggers)
- Indian Clubstyle (incl. Performance & Streetfighter)
- Indian Vintage (up to 1953)
- Best of Budweis Indian Motorcycle Custom Show
The Best of the Budweis Indian Motorcycle Custom Show will also be awarded to the most outstanding build, combining the best elements from all six classes. This is the ultimate prize, awarded to the builder whose motorcycle stands out as the most exceptional and innovative creation at the Indian Riders Fest 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for builders to showcase their passion for Indian Motorcycle and to be recognised by a panel of international experts from across the custom motorcycle industry.
Registrations are now open for the 2025 edition of the BCS, the AMD-Approved event and only custom show to be 100% dedicated Indian Motorcycle, which takes place during the Indian Riders Fest (June 19–22) in the Czech Republic.

S&S CYCLE ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF HOWARD KELLY TO VP-MARKETING
[May 15, 2025, 2025 Viola, WI] — S&S Cycle is excited to announce the promotion of Howard Kelly to VP-Marketing effective April 14th, 2025. Kelly has been back with S&S Cycle since September 2024, having previously worked at S&S from 20024-2009. Upon his return, Kelly was immediately assigned several major projects that had previously stalled. Kelly and his marketing team have been going full throttle ever since.
“I am pleased to announce the board’s decision to promote Howard Kelly to VP-Marketing effective immediately,” said S&S owner/director Brett Smith. “For the past several years the board has eagerly awaited a marketing leader able to launch a comprehensive dealer catalog, establish a strong presence at industry events, and reinstate the creativity of S&S projects with various builders.” Smith went on to say, “Howard started in September, launched our first catalog distributed to dealers in nearly ten years—in time for the holidays, and was able to identify and collaborate with six of the most highly regarded custom bike builders in time for launch by Daytona in March. By any standard, Howard very much deserves this leadership role and I’m very thankful to have him back at S&S Cycle.”
With the Vintage Tour launched and creating significant excitement, Kelly and the team are already starting to focus on 2026 initiatives. Stay tuned to see what S&S Cycle brings to the industry next.

BIKERNET GUN NUT REPORT–This is one of my favorite self-defense sayings:
“The best fight is the one you’re never in.”
It’s 100% true.
And it’s not that hard to BOOST your chances of never being in a fight.
Here are 6 simple rules to follow:
– #1: Don’t go anywhere WITH your gun that you wouldn’t go WITHOUT your gun
– #2: Park and walk in well-lit areas
– #3: Notice who notices you (people watching you are sometimes doing it for a reason)
– #4: Don’t bury your head in your phone in public
– #5: Don’t take sketchy shortcuts (like alleys)
– #6: Use your environment to watch your back (like the reflection in a window)
Follow these 6 rules and you’ll instantly make yourself and everyone else around you SAFER.

BikeMaster Expands Product Line with New Utility Jugs and Screwdriver Set
BikeMaster, a trusted name in motorcycle parts and tools for over 40 years, today announced the addition of two new products to its extensive lineup: BikeMaster Utility Jugs in new sizes and a new BikeMaster Screwdriver Set.
“BikeMaster has been a go-to brand for riders and technicians for decades,” says Matt Sturdevant, Director of Brand Management for Turn 14 Powersports. “We’re constantly striving to expand our product offerings with innovative and practical tools and accessories, and these new additions are a perfect example of that commitment.”
BikeMaster Utility Jugs – Now in More Sizes
Building on the success of their current 5-gallon jug, BikeMaster is expanding its Utility Jug line with new 2.5-gallon and 1.25-gallon sizes. These jugs are designed with convenience and safety in mind. Their square shape allows for a flush fit against flat surfaces, minimizing the risk of rolling and spills in a service vehicle or race van. Constructed from durable high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the jugs offer toughness, strength, stiffness, and resistance to chemicals and moisture. The natural color of the jugs ensures optimal visibility of the contents inside.
A key feature of the BikeMaster Utility Jugs is the new 3/4-inch flexible clear hose with an automatic shut-off feature. This innovative design prevents overpouring and allows for quicker pouring, as the fluid flow automatically stops when it reaches the end of the hose.

BikeMaster Utility Jugs are made in the USA.
Pricing is as follows:
BikeMaster 5 Gallon White Jug Black Cap W/Hose: $44.99
BikeMaster 2.5 Gallon White Jug Black Cap W/Hose: $38.99
BikeMaster 1.25 Gallon White Jug Black Cap W/Hose: $33.99

BikeMaster Screwdriver Set
The new BikeMaster JIS Screwdriver Set is a must-have for owners and mechanics who insist on the highest quality tools. This comprehensive kit ensures proper fit and prevents damage to screws commonly found on these bikes and meets JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards). The set is packaged in a sturdy case, ideal for both workbench use and on-the-go repairs.
The complete kit includes #1, #2, and #3 JIS screwdrivers, a versatile 3-way T-handle, and 1/4-inch drive sockets. This combination provides the tools needed for a wide range of tasks.
The new BikeMaster Screwdriver Set retails for $79.99.

EXCITING TIMES–I’m going to cut to the chase. I just bought three different batteries to give the VLXAFL more starting power. May, just Maybe I’ll ride it tomorrow.

The lastest issue of Easyriders recently arrived and we are fortunate to have a full page ad for the museum donated.

Plus the new 57785 magazine arrived. It covers the action in Sturgis and we bought an ad for the Emporium. Check it out.

One final thought. We are all getting so fucking old, but we’re trying like hell not to stop. But brothers all over the country are selling off their bikes and giving shit away. Here are a couple of items that drifted in the door this week.

I’m going to find a watch repair shop to rebuild this classic. And as for me, there’s shit to do and freedom to fight for. We don’t want to leave this world to our kids in shamble. It’s time to step up to corruption, bring freedom back and ride free!
