THE FOCUSED BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for April 27, 2017

Hey,

I watched a documentary on the brain with some interesting test tricks. It spoke a lot about focus, and it also promised some surprising results and helpful hints at the end, but somehow it lost focus and ended.

Yes, we have too many things fucking with our focus daily. And yes, there are companies trying to take advantage of our inability to stay focused. So, what can we do to simplify our lives and stay focused on what’s most important? You got me, but I’m working on it. If I come up with any startling results, I will certainly pass them on.

Actually, our brother Bob T. has all the answers. Go hide out in the desert with a woman, a couple of motorcycles and a bottle of whiskey.

Fortunately, the Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Las Vegas Bikefest, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, BorntoRide.com, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.

THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY JUST OPENED–
Subject: Fw: INNOCENCE IS PRICELESS

One Sunday morning, the preacher noticed little John standing in the foyer of the church
staring up at a large plaque. It was covered with names and small American flags
mounted on either side of it. The six-year old had been staring at the plaque
for some time, so the preacher walked up, stood beside the little boy, and said quietly,
“Good morning, John.”

“Good morning, Preacher,” he replied, still focused on the plaque.

“Preacher, what is this?”

The preacher said, “Well son, it’s a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.”

Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque.

Finally, little John’s voice, barely audible and trembling with fear asked,

“Which service, the 8:15 or the 10:30?”

IMPORTANT NOTICE, GETTING YOUR RIGHTS RE-INSTATED–

Once a person fills all the requirements of a court sentence their rights should be re-instated – They will then have paid their debt to society.

This should not be any different than any other debt.

Previously the agency that had a person in custody or on supervision were supposed to file the paper work. In many cases they did not.

Some stated they had too much other work YEA hanging out at the water cooler. If they had done their job this would not be happening.

Residents of Florida are requested to contact their elected officials and request this situation be resolved.
Florida is one of only three states doing this.

Voting rights of Florida felons to be restored under proposed amendment

FLORIDA —

Voting rights may soon be automatically restored for felons in Florida once they complete their sentences….

The Florida Supreme Court just signed off on a proposed ballot initiative that would apply to most felons.

The proposed amendment would undo a policy change by Attorney General Pam Bondi and Governor Rick Scott put in place in 2011 that requires most convicted felons to wait five years after prison before they can file a clemency petition to regain voting rights.
The court ruled for the initiative to be put on the 2018 ballot for voters to decide, but the group proposing the ballot initiative still needs to gather nearly 700,000 voter signatures for that to happen.

If the amendment makes the ballot and at least 60 percent of voters approve, felons would have their voting rights restored once the finish their sentences, including probation or parole.

People who commit murder or felony sexual offenses wouldn’t be eligible for automatic voting rights restoration.

voting-rights

Restoring Your Right to Vote

Florida is one of only three states that strip all individuals with past felony convictions of their civil rights, including their fundamental right to vote, even after completion of their sentences.

Floridians with past felony convictions lose not only the right to vote, but also the right to serve on a jury and to hold public office. Restoration of civil rights is also necessary to obtain certain occupational licenses.

Close to one million Floridians are affected by this civil rights ban. In many instances those individuals that have lost their right to vote can have that right re-instated. Below is information from the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition & the Florida Parole Commission.

More information on this topic may be found at www.restorerights.org and at https://fpc.state.fl.us/FAQClemency.htm.

If you are an individual that currently does not have your right to vote intact due to a past conviction, PLEASE review this information and take the necessary measures to have your civil rights restored.

If you served a felony sentence in a county jail or in another state, or with the federal government, you can request restoration of civil rights by contacting the Office of Executive Clemency.

(Click this link to contact the Office of Executive Clemency and/or to search for and print your Clemency Certificate: https://fpc.state.fl.us/ExecutiveClemencyRCR.htm )

TWO-BIT PRODUCTS ARE BACK– I’ve resurrected Two-Bit and am feverishly working on new designs for accessories to fit Sporty, Dyna, Softail and Touring models. Our first new piece is my Suicide King derby cover.

“The King of Hearts is also famously known as the “Suicide King” for the sword he appears to hold to his own neck. Did lost love drive him to madness and despair, or was he simply winding up to run his blade through a romantic rival?

We’ll never know, but this new derby cover from Two-Bit Choppers is sure to add the spirit of the Suicide King to your Twin Cam Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Milled from aircraft-grade 6061T6 billet aluminum stock before being sent off for military spec hard black anodizing, and finally back into the machine to painstakingly engrave the Suicide King to absolute perfection.

100-percent designed, manufactured and finished with pride in the U.S.A. Fits all 1999-current Dyna, 2000-current Softail and 1999-2016 Touring.”

I’ve got these guys milled up and available for same day shipping. Like I said, I’m hammering on a handful of new designs for these derby covers, some new Sporty front pulley covers, points covers, toe pegs and a new line of air cleaners.

Be sure to check out www.twobitchoppers.com as I’m adding new content as quickly as possible, and www.facebook.com/twobit25 to give us a like and catch up on our stuff nearly daily. Hope all is well at the Bikernet HQ and we are working on 5-Ball Racing covers, coming soon!

HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS IN DEATH–

Shared for Dan Anessi -watch the video – after pursuit by LE at high rate of speed (which was illegal according to SC law, and bumped the bike twice resulting in the bikers death….) they are planning a protest Sunday April 30th 7am to 7pm – Across from Court House – Summerville SC….will share flyer when received.

Pursuit from College Park Road to W 1st Street on 17-A in Summerville, SC
www.youtube.com

This is the Cops version

Last night at approximately 11:51pm, a deputy with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol in the area of the Ace Hardware on College Park Road when …the deputy observed a motorcycle travelling towards Crowfield Blvd. from the direction of I-26. The motorcycle was travelling approx. 66 MPH in the posted 45 MPH zone. When the deputy activated the emergency lighting in order to stop the motorcycle, the motorcycle sped up and refused to stop.

The traffic was light and conditions clear as the deputy attempted to get the motorcyclist to stop. Speeds reached up to 111 MPH at times with the motorcyclist slamming on the brakes and then speeding away several times. The pursuit continued up College Park Road, left onto Highway 17-A and continued on until West 1st Street in Summerville. The pursuit covered approx. 7 ¾ miles from start to finish over a 5 ½ minute time period.

At the end of the pursuit, the motorcyclist applied the brakes sharply and the motorcycle slowed rapidly and then swerved to the right in an apparent attempt to go around a vehicle on the right side of the through lane that had yielded for the blue lights.

When the motorcyclist attempted to accelerate away the operator appears to have missed a gear while the motorcycle continued to slow causing contact between the motorcycle and the front right corner of the deputy’s Ford Interceptor Utility. The motorcyclist then lost control and struck the curb between the vehicle that had yielded and the sidewalk.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded and is investigating the crash.

The operator of the motorcycle was declared to be deceased on scene by medical personnel. He was later identified by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office as 30-year-old Robert Lee Clark, Jr. of Giles Drive in Goose Creek.

The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an administrative review as per policy. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal investigation parallel to the SCHP’s in order to fully examine the incident.

The dash camera video is linked below:

This is not what others in the are saying. The cop could have gotten the plate number cut off the chase and arrested the party later. The chase appears to have violated policy about when chases should be terminated do to public safety.

To many members of law enforcement like these chases and in cases like this a motorcyclist is killed FOR WHAT?

From Dan Anessi
Yes your are correct. This chase was against Berkeley county sheriff policy. Pitting a motorcycle will result in death almost ever time. Another case of police use of excessive force

CUSTOM CYCLE ENGINEERING IS ALIVE AND BUILDING TOP NOTCH DYNA MOTORMOUNTS– NEW FROM CUSTOM CYCLE ENGINEERING, ENGINE EQUATOR II– The Engine Equator II is designed for all 2009 to present Touring Models (FLH’s and FLT’s). The new bracket allows all Dresser riders to correct chassis mis-alignment which is impossible to achieve with the stock motor mount.

For hot rod touring bikes and especially Dynas, this is the shit for handling issues and straight-line stability.

This new billet aluminum bracket replaces the forged front engine bracket. Equipped with slots for the engine bolts and a series of hash marks the motor is now able to move right or left in the frame and achieve perfect power train alignment.

In addition to the adjustable motor mount bracket we have added an adjustable stabilizing link to the bracket that attaches to a convenient frame lug.

NEWS FROM BIKERNET TRIKES–
Just FYI. Indiana’s General Assembly just concluded Friday night and did amend our autocycle law with an exemption of anti-lock brakes for units manufactured prior to 2015.

Just wanted to make everyone aware of a good report on what is currently going on or in some cases what is not currently going on with Autocycles.

Although the South Carolina bill is slated to pass into law some questions have come up with car seats for children as passengers. Our current bill is mainly a wording change and since they are still registered as motorcycles they will not be required to be in a car seat.

Last session we amended the passenger requirement for all motorcycles to require that the passengers feet must reach the foot pegs so not sure what they will do with the slingshots.

There has also just recently been published a great report and in my opinion shows that the work the MRF is dong to fix this on the federal level is the right thing to do.

THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY TAKES A SPIRITUAL TWIST–
Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and says to the first man he meets, “Do you want to go to heaven?”

The man responded, “I do, Father.”

The priest answered, “Then leave this pub right now!” and approached a second man. “Do you want to go to heaven?”

“Certainly, Father,” was the man’s reply.

“Then leave this den of Satan,” admonished the priest. He walked up to O’Toole. “Do you want to go to heaven?”

“No, I don’t, Father,” O’Toole replied. The priest looked him right in the eye, and demanded, “You mean to tell me that when you die, you don’t want to go to heaven?”

O’Toole smiled, “Oh, when I DIE, yes, Father. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now.”

THE DEALERWORLD Polaris Q1 results–

“Decent start to an important year” – CEO Scott Wine on Polaris Q1 results

Polaris has reported that overall sales revenue for the first quarter of 2017 increased +17% to $1,153.8 million, with Polaris North America retail sales “exceeding” company expectations.

The company says that Indian Motorcycle continued to gain market share in a soft quarter for the industry’s 900cc+ sector and that its ORV (Off Road Vehicles) market share is “stabilizing.”

The company has reported a first quarter 2017 net loss of $2.9 million, a loss that included costs related to the wind-down of Victory Motorcycles.

North American consumer retail demand for the Polaris motorcycle segment, including Indian Motorcycle and Slingshot, was down mid-single digits percent during the 2017 first quarter, while the overall motorcycle industry retail sales, 900cc and above, was down mid-single digits percent in the 2017 first quarter.

However, Indian Motorcycle retail sales increased low double-digits percent.

“While we reported an expected net loss for the quarter, adjusted earnings were slightly ahead of our expectations,” said Polaris Industries CEO Scott Wine. “We saw continued strong performance from Indian Motorcycle, and our ORV business improved its performance in the face of heavy competitive activity and a sluggish powersports environment. Overall, our dealer channel remains healthy with inventories down eight percent, and we continue to diligently work to enhance our dealer engagement.”

With reference to some of the issues the company finds itself needing to address, not least the ORV and Slingshot recall problems it continues to encounter, Wine went on to say that the company is “aggressively investing in the development of innovative products that will further solidify Polaris’ position as the leader in powersports. Our first quarter results reflect our commitment to quickly and sustainably improve our strategic and tactical execution, continue enhancing overall safety and quality, and building superior products for our customers.”

PAPER IS DEAD–Really?

This French Ad made me laugh out loud! Foreign commercials are so good!
My hat’s off to the advertising team that came up with the idea. It has often been
said that paper is dead .. Because we’re living in the electronic age!

Paper is not dead – ????? ?? ?? – YouTube
It’s only a 39 second video so please watch it all – The irony at the end won’t be lost on you.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN– A woman awakes in the middle of the night to find her husband not in bed. She suspects that he’s preparing a surprise for her since today is their 20th wedding anniversary, so she puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him.

She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of hot cocoa in front of him. He appears to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes away a tear from his eye.

“What’s the matter, dear?” she whispers as she steps into the room, “You haven’t been sitting here all night, have you!?”

The husband looks up from his drink, “It’s the 20th Anniversary of the day we met.”

She can’t believe he has remembered and starts to tear up.

The husband continues, “Do you remember 20 years ago when we started dating? I was 18 and you were only 15,” he said solemnly.

Once again, the wife is touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring and sensitive.

“Yes, I do,” she replies.

The husband pauses… The words were not coming easily.

“Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?”

“Yes, I remember,” said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.

The husband continued, “Do you remember when he shoved the shotgun in my face and said, Either you marry my daughter or I will make sure you spend the next 20 years in prison?”

“I remember that too,” she replied softly…

He sighed as he wiped another tear away from his cheek and said, “I would have gotten out today.”

V-TWIN EXPO REPORT FROM ROBIN BRADLEY— This is our sixth report from the Expo in February. There is no other show like it on the planet.

NAMZ: Just three years on from buying and adding the Badlands line of lighting modules to his established range of NAMZ electronic components, Jeff Zielinski says he has completely re-engineered the line with new platforms to speed up the manufacturing process.

Two new modules were launched this winter, using the same mold and same circuit board, have helped to reduce machine time while simplifying the bill of materials and increasing fill rates into the high 90s. “It also made for a near perfect module” says Jeff. “They already boasted a less than a 1% failure rate per 20,000 units sold, but now we have unprecedented flexibility for new module designs. ?
We continue to grow the company by producing new modules for motorcycles – right through to Indian, Victory and late model CAN/Bus Harley-Davidsons. Jeff says: “We’re so confident that we produce and engineer the very best lighting modules that we offer a lifetime warranty on all modules purchased after December 31st 2016.

Why would you ever want to use anything else? Stay tuned as 2017 will be another banner year for NAMZ as we have some new items that are sure to thrill!”; www.namzccp.com

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT THURSDAY VOCABULARY LESSON—
Perfidious: [per-fid-ee-uh s]

adjective
1.
deliberately faithless; treacherous; deceitful: a perfidious lover.

QUOTES
… that a brother should / Be so perfidious!

— William Shakespeare, The Tempest, 1623

ORIGIN
Perfidious has an unexceptional history in English except for one curious phrase. The English adjective has always meant much the same as the Latin perfidiosus “faithless, dishonest.” The unusual phrase is perfidious Albion or its French equivalent Albion perfide. (Albion is a Latin name for the island or nation of England). Perfidious entered English in the 16th century; perfidious Albion and Albion perfide in the 19th century (Albion perfide has been in French since the late 18th century).

IT’S A RATTLECAN WEEKEND—We are flying in lots of directions. Grandson Frank’s FXR is running, fully registered and insured. He’s riding like the wind. I would like to tear that bike down and get it painted, but we have several projects in the way.

Let’s get his wrecked Dyna going and out of the shop. We received new rubbermounts from Custom Cycle Engineering as recommended by Doctor John, the frame straightening master. This way we can dial in the entire driveline.

Did you know Bubs Exhaust is still cooking under new owners. They are a good group and we are mounting a BDI bare system to Frank’s chassis with a few mods. I had to change the mounting system some to make it fit.

We ordered replacement stock levers from Aeromach and a headlight. This headlight is clean.

I’m back on my sculpture this weekend. Wish I knew what the hell I was doing regarding Sturgis this year.

And another, the 1928 Shovelhead is being registered today.

Hang on for more reports on Sunday in the Post. Staying focused is a daily issue around here, but it’s a good thing. We relish completing projects and work for accomplishments constantly. It’s our mission to finish what we start. It’s something I try to teach kids around me, focus can open doors to new opportunities and or save your life. Through focus and an open mind you can discover Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and or Threats.

While Riding Free,
