Royal Enfield welcomes women to apply for Flat Track and Road Racing BTR programs now through December 1, 2021.

Milwaukee, WI (Thursday, November 18, 2021) – Royal Enfield’s unique and inspiring BUILD. TRAIN. RACE. program, established in 2019, is prepared to go bigger than ever in the 2022 racing season. Build. Train. Race (BTR) will be expanding its platform in both Flat Track and Road Racing, turning even more women motorcyclists into builders and racers, and Royal Enfield is currently welcoming applications.

For the 2022 season, Royal Enfield is seeking riders with some level of experience in motorcycle racing. In the past, BTR has sought out complete beginners, but since there will be riders returning to the program in 2022, the applications are now open to riders with experience in the discipline they are applying for. If you aren’t sure if you have the appropriate level of experience, just apply anyway!

BTR ROAD RACING
Royal Enfield BTR was proud to be a part of the 2021 MotoAmerica Road Racing Championship, where they were welcomed into the pits as revered members of the racing community. BTR Road Race particpiants included 2021 champion CJ Lukacs, Becky Goebel, Trisha Dahl, Michaela Trumbull, Alyssa Bridges, Kayla Thiesler and Scarlett Grosselanghorst. For the first time, several past program participants will be welcomed back for the new season, which will also expand to host an even larger field of racers.

Under the tutelage of professional road racer and renowned team manager Melissa Paris, the BTR Road Racing women built their own race bikes from Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycles and put together unique sponsorship programs. From there, each went through road race training courses before taking on the racing portion of the program at select MotoAmerica Superbike Championship rounds. Along with a larger grid of riders for 2022, The Royal Enfield BTR program will also race at more rounds of the MotoAmerica Championship.

BTR FLAT TRACK
American Flat Track entered into the Build. Train. Race. program in 2020, and the 2021 program was the best yet, with nine racers taking on four rounds of the AFT Championship aboard custom-built Royal Enfield INT 650 motorcycles.

Jillian Deschenes, Lanakila MacNaughton, Erin Ferris, Malary Lee, Sarah Dixon, Gabrielle Hughes, Nean Kiskela, Bridgett Leber and Jaycee Jones highlighted the field as they wowed crowds at each round with their increasing speed and skill. The Flat Track BTR program will be expanding to include more racers, including a number of past program participants, and additional rounds, as well.

“The 2021 season was truly amazing for the Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. programs, both Road Racing and Flat Track,” said Breeann Poland, Marketing & Communications Lead – Royal Enfield Americas. “This all-women initiative, teaching women to build and race their own motorcycles, is not only unique and inspiring, but the growth and the accomplishments that come out of this women is just awe-inspiring. It leaves us wanting more, and the support we’re receiving from the race promoters, the sponsors, and most importantly the fans, is growing with each season. Next year is going to be our biggest yet, and we’re looking forward to seeing our future stars step forward.”

People who can work on those old engines are few and far between. We are a vanishing breed.

In a few years if a collector wants to keep the old stuff running, he will have to get out the old manuals and train some young guy with an aptitude for it.

Me, I’m just going to keep flying down the road on my old bikes and my ‘34 Ford.

CJ Lukacs shines as BTR Road Race women take on the Brainerd, Minnesota opening round

Milwaukee, WI (Monday, August 2, 2021) – Royal Enfield’s The Brainerd MotoAmerica round was host to the opening round of the Royal Enfield BUILD. TRAIN. RACE. (BTR) Road Race Program where seven women, who have spent months designing, building and training aboard their Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycles, finally got to chase the checkered flag. The historic exhibition, showcasing the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and an all-women field of builders/racers, was featured alongside the pro ranks of MotoAmerica, the premiere motorcycle road racing series in North America.

Starting with Thursday’s Dunlop tire test, all the way through to Sunday’s exhibition race, the BTR Road Racing women took part in all of the practice and qualifying sessions. With only two official training dates on their Continental GT 650 race bikes, the ladies were thrilled to gain the added track time on Thursday. Dunlop stepped up with a fresh set of tires for the BTR participants—a welcome surprise that was above and beyond Dunlop’s original commitment to the program. Ohlins was on hand for the BTR women with suspension support, helping the racers make adjustments throughout the practice sessions.

A standout star rose to the top throughout the weekend—BTR Road Race’s CJ Lukacs stormed to a dominant victory on Sunday ahead of Becky Goebel and Trisha Dahl. Lukacs led every lap and was able to take the victory, despite a hard get-off in Saturday’s practice session that sent her tumbling. The former pro motocross racer was a bit sore, but able to get her Royal Enfield sorted out in time for qualifying, and ultimately the final race on Sunday.

“I am overcome with emotion,” said Lukacs. “This first event, being in the pits of MotoAmerica, seeing the fans, the excitement, going through testing and practice, track walks with Melissa Paris and Josh Hayes, has been unreal. Seeing ourselves on tv and our journey and program being talked about his the coolest thing ever. To have this race win means so many amazing and different things to me. I’m super excited for our next round and I couldn’t be more grateful to Royal Enfield for making this a reality.”

“I had a blast today out on the Brainerd track with my newfound family,” said runner-up Becky Goebel. “I’m just so happy to be feeling comfortable on a racetrack and getting into the idea of racing and learning a new motorcycle discipline. For me, this whole program is about having fun and finishing. Today, that was exactly what we did and that’s what’s cool and gratifying about the Build Train Race Program.”

Third-place finisher Trisha Dahl, who edged out Alyssa Bridges for the final podium position, echoed the sentiment. “What a dream come true. This winter when I started this program with Royal Enfield, I would daydream about what race day would look like and this far exceeded my vision. I’m very fortunate to be one of the seven ladies chosen to race this beautiful GT 650. I can’t thank Bree Poland and Melissa Paris enough. They have put so much time and effort into making this program successful. These ladies aren’t just my teammates; they’re family now.”

Together with MotoAmerica, the Royal Enfield BUILD. TRAIN. RACE. program is breaking ground with an all-women series featuring machines that the women built themselves, creating a unique and unforgettable platform for the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycle. Royal Enfield is ecstatic to see the hard work of the participants, the sponsors, and the MotoAmerica crew come together on the track for the opening round of this historic program.

This month will be jam-packed with celebrating these ladies’ hard work, the debut of their motorcycle builds at MotoAmerica at Road America June 11th-13th, & get them ready for their first race at the end of July in Brainerd, Minnesota.

Royal Enfield announces road racing participants

Seven female motorcyclists have been selected for the road racing program

Milwaukee, Wis (January 19, 2021) Royal Enfield today announced its seven finalists for the BUILD TRAIN RACE (BTR) road racing program. The seven female motorcyclists come from diverse backgrounds and over the course of the next year are tasked with converting Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycles into road racing motorcycles, for a series of exhibition races to be held in 2021.

Royal Enfield launched the BTR program in 2019, challenging four women to build flat track motorcycles and compete in select exhibitions during American Flat Track events. After a strong response to the program, the second phase of BTR will showcase the road racing capabilities of the Continental GT 650 and the abilities of seven female motorcyclists to build, train and race the motorcycles they create. Melissa Paris, veteran road racer, and BTR flat track participant will serve as a mentor to the selected participants and provide valuable insights throughout the duration of the program.

“The BTR flat track program received an enormous outpouring of support and interest in the last year,” said Breeann Poland, Marketing Lead – Americas and Continental GT 650 global brand manager. “A panel of judges including myself, Melissa Paris and Anne Roberts have handpicked a group of fantastic female motorcycle enthusiasts from across the U.S. through a video submission process, and will be providing each of them with a Continental GT 650 motorcycle, so that they may begin the customization process.“

After careful review, the panel of judges selected Michaela Turnbull of Wyoming, CJ Lukacs of California, Kayla Theisler of Wisconsin, Becky Goebel of California, Trisha Dahl of Minnesota, Alyssa Bridges of California and Scarlett Grosselangehorst of New York to take part in the BTR program.

The BTR road racing program will kick off in the coming weeks, as the participants receive their motorcycles and begin the customization process. Melissa Paris will provide guidance during the build process and will mentor the ladies during the training and racing portions of the program. Upon completion of their builds, the women will partake in a series of training sessions lead by Paris. The culmination of the program will take place when the seven women participate in yet-to-be-announced race exhibitions.

Harley-Davidson to Start Teaching 500 People How to Ride Motorcycles for Free

The world’s best-known motorcycle company, Harley-Davidson, is not exactly enjoying its best of times. It’s been a rough run for the bike maker these past few years, and chances are the trend will continue to manifest itself in the near future as well. But Harley had it rough before, and somehow always managed to pull through.

In an attempt to get people’s minds of things, now that the winter holidays are approaching, Harley announced it is giving away 500 classes to its Riding Academy (each worth around $250). They are intended for people who have never ridden a motorcycle before, but only if they’re nominated by family or friends.

More to the point, from now and until the last day of the year, Harley is asking people to nominate someone they think deserves to enjoy the class for free. All you have to do to let the company know who that person is is to upload a photo of your favorite Harley-Davidson motorcycle on either Instagram or Twitter, and tag the non-rider while also including #GiftOfRiding and #Giveaway in your post.

Aside from the free class, each randomly selected winner will receive a $200 Harley-Davidson gift card to be used for riding gear. Another gift card worth $100 goes to the ones who made the winning nominations.

We’re back for another round and expanding the Build. Train. Race Program into the world of Road Racing! We’re ready to hit the asphalt and bring a whole new crew of women road racers to the sport. If you’re a female who is interested in learning how to road race and willing to give 100% commitment, this is for you!

Royal Enfield North America announced today its phase two of the BUILD TRAIN RACE (BTR) program which will now seek out female motorcyclists to go road racing with the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. Similar to the flat track BUILD TRAIN RACE four women will be handpicked by Royal Enfield for this iteration of the program through a video selection process. Women interested in the program must submit a video questionnaire here to be considered.

Professional Road Racer and current BTR Flat Track Participant Melissa Paris has agreed to mentor the women during every phase of the program. She will work with each participant on creating a design for their builds, building sponsorship decks, and training off and on the track.

“Building upon the success of the initial BUILD TRAIN RACE program, we decided to carry the momentum into the road racing segment, ” said Royal Enfield Americas Head of Marketing Breeann Poland. “This is a unique opportunity for women interested in getting into road racing and to make a name for themselves in a national racing program. Working with a world class racer like Melissa Paris is not an opportunity that comes along often. The ladies will also be some of the first people to road race the Continental GT 650 platform, so the motorcycling world will be watching.”

The participants will be chosen by a panel of judges which includes Breeann Poland, Head of Marketing – Americas, veteran road racer and flat track BTR participant Melissa Paris and accomplished racer and journalist Anne Roberts. The selected participants will then have several months and a small budget to convert a Continental GT 650 Twin into road racing trim. Paris will provide valuable insights during the build process.
