Florida motorcycle club holds 15th annual memorial ride honoring fallen heroes

by Andrea Guerrero and Drew Hill from https://www.winknews.com Charlotte County came together to honor fallen officers on Saturday with the 15th annual Fallen Heroes Fundraiser. This year it began with a memorial motorcycle ride in honor of the first female corrections officer killed in the line of duty. More than two dozen officers in Southwest Florida have been killed in the line of duty in recent years. Darla Latham is one of the officers. Every year the Florida Defenders Motorcycle Club makes sure to honor her. Vinny Gorgogolione is the President of the Charlotte County chapter of the Defenders. “Today’s our 15th annual fundraiser in the name of the Darla Latham who was killed in the line of duty during a prison break in 2003,” said Gorgogolione. Hundreds of bikers from different chapters all around the country gathered for Latham and other fallen officers. “I think it’s important to focus our efforts on officer safety and those that do get injured or killed on the line of duty that there’s somebody there to try to help them and their families out,” Gorgogolione said. Toney Mineo recently retired as officers and they rode from the east coast to who their support for this forever brotherhood. “It’s heart-wrenching for first of all that we know what they go through,” Mineo said. “Our job as a former law-enforcement is to make sure they’re OK and if they need anything to step up to the plate.” The money raised is to support our local men and women in blue. Chief Pam Davis with Punta Gorda police knows this can make the difference. “Know that they gave their lives for something and very important and society and that we as a police family we’re here for you too,” said Davis. Both the Punta Gorda Department […]

Indian Motorcycle debuts new 100th anniversary Chief lineup

by Carter Jones from https://www.bizjournals.com Indian Motorcycle is commemorating the 100th anniversary of its influential Indian Chief models with three reimagined bikes for its 2022 lineup. Indian is the vintage motorcycle brand owned by Medina, Minnesota-based motorsports company Polaris Inc. (NYSE: PII), which revived and positioned the brand as a direct competitor to Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson Inc. (NYSE: HOG). Indian introduces the 2022 Chief models three weeks after Harley-Davidson introduced its lineup for 2021. Indian’s 2021 model rollout came back in September. According to the motorcycle maker, Indian’s new Chief, Chief Bobber and Super Chief were designed with a simplistic and mechanical aesthetic that harkens back to the glory days of American motorcycles with a timeless, simplistic steel-tube frame. “The Indian Chief is a truly iconic motorcycle and what better way to celebrate its 100th birthday than unleashing an entirely new Indian Chief lineup,” said Mike Dougherty, president of motorcycles. “These bikes capture the mechanical simplicity and attitude of classic American V-twins, yet bring it all forward with modern sophistication and features. We could not be more thrilled to bring this new platform into our lineup.” The lineup features dual exhaust, LED lighting, keyless ignition, cruise control and adjustable ride modes: sport, standard or tour. The Chief starts at $14,499 and provides a stripped-down riding experience, due to analog gauges and the option to not have ABS. The Chief Bobber has bulky tires on spoke wheels, a larger front end and a solo bobber seat that pay homage to post-war bikes. Meanwhile, the Super Chief includes a saddlebags and a windshield for more versatility on longer rides. “We wanted to capture a timeless look that never goes out of style, and looks beautiful whether naked or fully dressed,” said Ola Stenegard, director, industrial design for Indian. “We also wanted to keep

Frazier’s Harley-Davidson to host 32nd annual toy ride

by Regan Spinks from https://accesswdun.com Motorcyclists with Frazier’s Harley-Davidson in Buford will conduct their 32nd annual Toy Ride on Sunday, Dec. 6. Each year, Frazier’s Harley-Davidson collects hundreds of toys and monetary donations to benefit the Chattahoochee Baptist Association’s Christmas Hope program, which provides presents for underprivileged children. After collecting the donations, motorcyclists deliver them to the association in their annual Toy Ride. Approximately 100 motorcyclists will make the journey to deliver donated toys on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. Many riders will display the donated toys on their motorcycles during the ride. “The Toy Ride is a great way to make a difference in a child’s life this Christmas season,” Frazier’s Harley-Davidson Owner Bill Frazier said in a statement Thursday. Upon arriving at the Chattahoochee Baptist Association building on McEver Road in Gainesville, the riders join in an assembly line to bring all the toys into Santa’s Workshop. Frazier’s Harley-Davidson officials said that the Toy Ride is a great opportunity to feel the holiday spirit. “Without the help of Frazier’s Harley-Davidson, this program would not be nearly what it is today,” said Wanda Oliver of the Christmas Hope Program. “It is so exciting to see and hear all the motorcycles coming in.”

Not all of the bikers out there are on the nice list as we found some crazy video of one very naughty rider. He’s only 19 take a look at the video above. This happened in London. The person riding that motorcycle at 180 miles per hour is only 1, leading police on a wild chase through the very congested city and finally coming to stop because to refuel. He just pled guilty to charges and will be sentenced in January. More info here. Veterans Day was just a few weeks ago, but for bikers, it’s always time to honor our vets. I don’t get to do this very often, so I thought I would mention it this week. The Patriot Guard Riders ride loud motorcycles but are quietly honoring or vets almost every week.
