Petersen Museum Overland Exhibit

By General Posts

I know many of you can’t make it out to the Petersen Museum every time they post a motorcycle exhibit, especially with the Covid plague. But is this case one of our longtime contributing photographers lives around the corner.

Marcus Cuff has been a world class tech, feature, antique motorcycle and event photographer for Bikernet and Easyriders, American Iron, Tattoo Magazine and Cycle Source for over three decades.

With Marcus’s help we were able to bring the new Petersen Museum Overland Motoring Exhibit directly to you.

New Zealand Hoar Run 2021

By General Posts

by Graeme Lowen

My fears of there being ice over the pass were unfounded and the road was dry. It was the stop at Tarras that provide us with chilly clues. I got talking to a lady who drove from Tekapo in the morning. She told us that the first club group ran into dense hoar frost and thick fog all the way from Tekapo to the Ohau turnoff. The guys who left 20 minutes later missed most of it.

Velocity Stack and Palm Springs ’74

By General Posts

By Bandit with photos from Sam Burns Collection

I’ve never been a fan of velocity stacks. One, I was just a hardworking sort and couldn’t afford top end jobs every year. I tried to build shit that was fast but would hang together.

At the time I wore my greasy Levi’s every day, until they shinned. I couldn’t afford a motorcycle jacket, so I used an old parka and put a rough leather welding jacket over it. I dyed it black and sewed a set of Harley wings on the back. I wore gauntlet leather welding gloves, which I also died black. My hair was long sandy and wavy, and I had a full beard.

Record Attendance at the WPGC Bike Fest for XDA

By General Posts

The Xtreme Dragbike Association (XDA) is an east coast motorcycle drag racing series.

This past weekend Maryland International Raceway hosted a record sized crowd at the 21st annual WPGC Bike Fest with over 9,000 fans in attendance! The XDA continues to deliver the largest motorcycle drag racing event in the industry. The event also featured Live music, a Freestyle Motocross show, sound competition, custom bike show, a huge vendor midway, and a hot bikini contest.

The action on the track yielded a stout 810 entries for an exciting weekend of competition. The record spectator turnout enjoyed the variety of activities going down in the pits and the non-stop on-track action. With something for everyone, it’s no surprise this event grows every year.

Twenty Years of Chopper Dedication and Hard Work
by Dan Stern

Decades ago (mid ‘90s) Paisano Publications came out with an upscale magazine called VQ. I’m sure a take-off on GQ. People scoffed because the RUB thing was in full swing. I didn’t care because it was another great publication from bikers for bikers. It was tailored for the upscale market complete with ads for cologne, soap and other things you’d never find in Easyriders. The best part was a feature on artists concepts.

VQ’s editor, Keith (Bandit) Ball was running it while juggling the editorship of Easyriders and countless other publications.

Owner: Dan Stern
Bike: 2004 Harley-Davidson Softail w/left-hand sidecar

NHDRO Race – Lee and Adams Take $67,000 Shootout

RACE REPORT – NHDRO $67K Big Bracket Shootout Season Opener presented by Liguori Drag Racing
by Tim Hailey

event: NHDRO $67K Big Bracket Shootout Season Opener presented by Liguori Drag Racing
when: May 13-16, 2021
where: National Trail Raceway, Hebron, Ohio, USA

NHDRO’s Brian and Niki Welch have really perfected their Big Money bracket shootout formula with last weekend’s $67,000 Big Bracket Shootout presented by Liguori Drag Racing at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. A no-box ladder and delay box ladder (64 bikes each) raced for $33,000 a piece before facing off against each other for a $1,000 bonus. How fair is that for spreading the wealth?

Gearhead’s Trike Story

By General Posts

by Tim Graves with photos from Sam Burns

That old trike was a real Frankenstein’s monster. She was the back end of a Corvair of a 1960 vintage and a front end of a Honda CB 500. She had a full-size keg gas tank on the chariot bed over the engine. The driver seat was a plastic Baja bucket. The passenger seat was none.

Just a little history of what started me on the biker’s road.
