The Coral Head MusicFest is an American Legion charity concert series created and coordinated by Rich Anderson the Director of the American Legion Riders Post 154 in Marathon, FL. The Coral Head MusicFest is on the fourth successful year in the Florida Keys, being brought to Pinellas Park for the first time. The Pinellas Park concert will take place on November 2nd at England Brothers Park and is expected to be an annual event for our area with proceeds benefiting our local Veteran charities, Project VetRelief and Bay Pines Veterans Recreation center which is the designated charity of post 104. Our Pinellas Park event headliners and performers are Vince Neil, Sebastian Bach, Slaughter, Mitch Perry Group and Hairdaze & Jen. We are expecting attendance to be 8,000 plus. Cross Country Chase Stage 9

The last full day of racing included 259-miles of sightseeing through parks, parts of the Everglades and through swampy areas that kept riders eyeing the roadsides for alligators while keeping an eye on the sky for predicted rain, but the weather witch was kind enough to wait until after enjoying a great party and dinner at Peterson’s Harley-Davidson in South Florida to turn on the water works. And tomorrow’s route scant 129-miles into the Florida Keys will bring the run total to 2,368-miles of true grit. Riders will arrive at the checkered flag with hearts full of elation over a job well done, and hearts full of sorrow to see it all come to an end. Class I will head out of Miami at 8:30 with the other two classes leaving at 15-minute intervals and arrival in Key West required by 1:30. Coast Guard offloads 14,000 lbs of marijuana, 3,660 lbs of cocaine at Port Everglades

MIAMI (WFLA) – Approximately 14,000 pounds of marijuana and 3,600 pounds of cocaine were offloaded by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Bear on Thursday at Port Everglades. The marijuana, worth an estimated $12.5 million, and the cocaine, worth an estimated $50 million, was seized in international waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The drugs represent five separate suspected drug smuggled vessel interdictions by the US Coast Guard. According to the Coast Guard: The Coast Guard Cutter Bear was responsible for two cases, seizing approximately 7,900 pounds of marijuana and 300 pounds of cocaine. The Coast Guard Cutter Valiant (WMEC-621) was responsible for one case, seizing approximately 2,700 pounds of cocaine. The USS Tornado (PC-14) with a Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team was responsible for 2 cases seizing approximately 6,100 pounds of marijuana and 660 pounds of cocaine. “I could not be prouder of this crew’s accomplishments, and of the entire interagency and allied team that continue to stand the watch in an effort to stem the efforts of smugglers that seek to destabilize the Western hemisphere while they line their pockets,” said Lt. Three naked Florida women lead police on 21-mile chase

Women applying lotion told trooper they were ‘air drying’ Tampa Bay Times says no link to area nudist community Authorities said three naked women who were seen applying suntan lotion at a Florida rest stop led police on a 21-mile chase, drove a car at one deputy and threatened another with a bat. The Florida highway patrol said that when a deputy approached the women at the Interstate 75 rest stop on Wednesday in Dade City, Pasco county, they started dressing. The women told the trooper they had been staying at a relative’s home but went to the rest stop after an altercation and had nowhere else to go. The Tampa Bay Times reported that the women claimed they were “air drying” after washing up. They then fled in a car, with troopers giving chase. The women were caught after police managed to blow out their tires and repeatedly rammed their car. One was subdued using a stun gun and marijuana was found in the car. The women were charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, fleeing to elude and indecent exposure. In the words of the Tampa Bay Times, “though Pasco has been dubbed the nudist capital of the world, the arrest reports do not indicate the women are linked to its many nudist or clothing-optional communities”.

Dollar and Thrifty Customers, Find Out If You Are Eligible for a Refund of Florida Rental Car Toll Fees

NMA E-Newsletter #531 In September 2014, the National Motorists Association sent a letter of complaint to then-Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi about predatory practices by rental car companies in the state related to toll service charges. The NMA letter included a petition calling for reform and compensation signed by several hundred association members. The Consumer Protection Division (CPD) of the Florida Attorney General’s Office launched an investigation and agreed with our assessment of systemic abuses of motorists. The CPD previously notified the NMA that it had reached a settlement with Avis, Budget, and Payless, a fact that we documented in NMA E-Newsletter #461 and in a national email alert to members in November 2017. Eligible claims against those three rental car companies had to be filed by January 7, 2018. Laura Boeckman of the CPD recently notified the NMA that an out-of-court settlement has been reached with the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in which DTAG has agreed to make significant changes in how the toll fees it charges are disclosed to customers. It also agreed to provide refunds of its toll fees and PlatePass charges to eligible consumers who were charged fees by Dollar or Thrifty between January 1, 2011 and January 7, 2019. If you rented a vehicle in Florida from Dollar or Thrifty during that time period and incurred toll fees and/or PlatePass charges from either of those agencies, you may request a refund by submitting a claim form. Motorcycle Profiling is Official Daytona PD Policy

Video footage obtained by the MPP from the North Florida Council of Clubs confirms that motorcycle profiling is not only widespread in Daytona Beach, but it is also official law enforcement policy. In the words of Daytona PD Chief Craig Capri, “If you wear your colors [in Daytona Beach], you’re going to get stopped.” This official policy is unconstitutional and exposes the entire Daytona PD to civil liability. This video evidence also justifies a cost-free legislative solution in the form of a simple prohibition against motorcycle profiling combined with relief for victims. Chief Capri’s Statement Proves Unconstitutional Practices Are Policy Without any other evidence, Chief Capri’s Statement alone proves that the Daytona PD profiles motorcycle club members as a matter of policy. This official policy irrefutably violates the 1st, 4th, and 14th Amendments to the US Constitution. Federal courts have confirmed that motorcycle club colors are protected by the 1st Amendment. To punish an individual through seizure in the form of a profiling stop anyone “who wears the insignia of [a 1% motorcycle club], without regard to or knowledge of that individual’s specific intent to engage in the alleged violent activities committed by other members, is antithetical to the basic principles enshrined in the First Amendment and repugnant to the fundamental doctrine of personal guilt that is a hallmark of American jurisprudence. see Coles v. Carlini 162 F.Supp.3d 380 (2015) Chief Capri’s statement also violates the 14th Amendment because it represents Selective Enforcement of the law. Capri’s statement proves that the strategy to use traffic stops as a way to punish those exercising their rights of expression and association is premeditated and selective.
