Unique Custom Wheels on Harley-Davidson V-Rod

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com There was a time, not long ago, when Harley-Davidson wanted a piece of the muscle bike segment action, and gave birth to mighty V-twin racing street custom, or VRSC. The family was successful enough for a while, and Milwaukee made several versions of it, including the V-Rod, before discontinuing production. The V-Rod would be the muscle Harley motorcycle that gave birth to the family and, after it died, became one of the favorite bikes to modify in the books of shops across the world. Europeans seem to have a special soft spot for the model, and some have dedicated entire lineups to this particular model. Russia-based Box39 is one of those shops. Most recently, their passion for all things V-Rod comes down to the Giotto family of custom builds, but that passion had to start somewhere. Digging through their relatively short history (these guys have been around for about ten years), and through their past work, we’ve come across this here, unnamed and orange V-Rod that seems to one of their earlier such projects. As far as custom builds are concerned, this particular one doesn’t really rock our world. We get the usual custom bits here and there, but other than that, nothing really catches the eye, not even the orange on the body, a color not unlike we’ve seen before. Until the said eye falls on the custom wheels on this thing. Sized 21 inches front and 18 inches rear, the wheels, like many other fitted by Box39 on their builds, have been made to look this way in-house by the Russians themselves, with the shop bragging about being able to make unique such parts, “from the smallest to thirty-inch monster.“ And they kind of nailed it with these ones as, for what it’s […]

Veterans’ campaigner Simon Weston gets special gift on 60th birthday

by Enda Mullen from https://www.coventrytelegraph.net Veterans’ campaigner Simon Weston says 60th birthday gift of Triumph trike is dream come true. It followed a crowdfunding campaign organised by former Meriden Triumph engineer Norman Hyde. Veterans’ campaigner and Falkland War survivor Simon Weston has been presented with an extra-special gift to mark his 60th birthday in the shape of a Triumph trike. Simon signed up for the British Army at 15. Aged 20, when serving in the Welsh Guards, he was aboard the logistics ship RFA Sir Galahad – laden with fuels and ammunition – when it was bombed by the Argentine Air Force during the conflict in the South Atlantic. He suffered horrific injuries and underwent prolonged reconstructive surgery. At times Simon said he was close to giving in, but courage and determination saw him emerge positively as a strong advocate for troops’ and veterans’ rights. Along with his many charitable activities he gives inspirational talks on achieving mental wellness. Awarded the OBE in 1992, Simon was made a CBE in 2016. Veterans’ campaigner and Falkland War survivor Simon Weston has been presented with an extra-special gift to mark his 60th birthday in the shape of a Triumph trike. The gift was the result of a crowd-funding campaign which had its roots in a chance conversation at a presentation given by Simon two years ago. Simon revealed to former Meriden Triumph engineer and world speed record holder Norman Hyde that he would really love a trike like the one ridden by Billy Connolly on his TV travel series. It spurred Norman into action and he decided to embark on a mission to fulfil Simon’s dream. He said: “Knowing what Simon had given to our country and knowing what good people there are in the bike world, from manufacturers and importers, through

Rare 1901 Triumph Motor Bicycle to Make First Public Appearance in 84 Years

by Florina Spînu from https://www.autoevolution.com Salon Privé Week, now in its 16th year, will once again highlight the best of the automotive and motorcycle worlds. Any car enthusiast and motorcycle aficionado will drool at the most incredible supercars and classics and alongside the rarest motorcycles. Triumph will also take part in this year’s series of events and will create a buzz with a rare sight: its first motorcycle ever built. What began in 1886 as the Triumph Cycle Company has become one of the most recognizable of all motorcycle brands, with iconic models including the Speed Twin, Bonneville, and the famous Thunderbird 6T ridden by Marlon Brando in “The Wild One.” Siegfried Bettmann and Moritz Schulte, the company’s founders, started out making Triumph-branded bicycles, but they gradually extended production to include motorcycles as well. That’s how the company’s first “motorcycle” was born. It was a bicycle fitted with a 3/4hp 172cc Belgian Minerva engine. The machine had no clutch or gearbox, and the rider could adjust the rear chain with the use of a rear band brake and an eccentric crank. The Triumph motor bicycle was introduced in September 1901 for the 1902 season. The brand’s reputation for quality and durability was well established by the outbreak of WWI, which eventually led to substantial orders for military use. The rare exemplary will be on display at on the South Lawn at Blenheim Palace as part of the Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance. Its appearance represents a unique opportunity for visitors to see this historic motor bicycle ( which is the forerunner of all subsequent Triumphs) in public for the first time since 1937. On September 1st, Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance will include two classes: Exceptional Motorcycles and Exceptional Competition Motorcycles. Allen Millyard, a well-known motorcycle builder, will be back this year

Harley-Davidson dealer giving away custom bike to support Sioux nonprofit

by Dillon Adams from https://www.siouxlandproud.com SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The 81st Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicks off Friday in the Black Hills of South Dakota but before then, Rooster’s Harley-Davidson is hoping to raise money from bikers to help a local nonprofit. The bike isn’t any regular Harley-Davidson though. The Harley is known as the knucklehead collaborative build and is being raffled off for $50 a ticket. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Sioux City’s Camp High Hopes. The fully custom bike was designed after a public vote. “We did like a people’s choice. We voted online, voted in store, we had giveaways, so the people kind of helped us put this bike together. We voted on seats, handlebars, taillights, the paint color, pretty much every nut and bolt got touched by everybody but us,” said Riley Jasa, of Rooster’s H-D. The bike was completed earlier this week. Tickets can be purchased at Rooster’s or at Camp High Hopes, as well as their Facebook pages. The winner will be drawn at the annual Miles for Smiles poker run on September 11. Tickets are still available for purchase! These tickets give you a chance to win this knucklehead and all proceeds go to benefit Camp High Hopes in Sioux City! Custom Motorcycle turned into Production Model by Honda

by Sebastian Toma from https://www.autoevolution.com 2021 Honda CB1000R 5Four Turns Custom Bike Into Production Reality. Honda has opened the order books for the CB1000R 5Four, a performance-focused café racer bike inspired by the CB1000RS 5Four built by Guy Willison. The Japanese company teamed up with the builder for this limited-edition model, and it blends café racer styling with a factory-backed warranty. Honda’s flagship naked motorcycle received an update for the 2021 model year, and that was selected as the base for the CB1000R 5Four. Work started with the front, which received a cowl for the front headlight. The handlebar received a set of LSL dog-leg brake and clutch levers, as well as a set of mirrors. The gas tank has a hand-painted Honda logo, and the seat is hand-stitched in a diamond pattern, while the rear of the seat has the 5Four logo laser etched on it. The tail of this bike is also custom, as it has a slimmer LED rear light, while the license plate mount was moved up to allow a better view of the rear wheel. Customers will also get a titanium Growler-X exhaust from Racefit, which is supposed to only be used on the track. It comes with laser-etched 5Four and Racefit logos. It sounds nice, as you can observe in the video embedded below. Naturally, the bike had to get custom paintwork. In this case, we are writing about a candy red main color, along with blue and pearl white accents. The three colors are an inspiration from Honda’s racing efforts. Customers will also be able to order Guy Willison’s signature painted on the rear fender, right next to the seat. Each bike will get a signed certificate of authenticity. Honda will only sell this bike through its dealer network in the UK. However,
