Clay’s Christmas – Blessings Come in Strange Packages

New Episode 97 in Bandit’s Cantina – The Series

by K.Randall Ball with illustrations by Jon Towle and George Fleming

The Cantina bustled and Bandit kept the holiday tunes blasting while he stared at his budget sheet. It didn’t look good. The positive cash flow from the Sturgis Rally dwindled. He knew his time in Los Angeles waned and 2022 would be a turning point.

He put on a smiling Xmas face and walked down the stairs to the dining room. Most huddled together over their presents. Brothers discussed bike modifications and upcoming projects.

Marko came out from behind bar and nudged Bandit. “Looking good?” Marko said and then steered Bandit’s gaze to Clay, his thinning head of sandy-blonde hair resting against the polish bar top.

Clay was a too-regular. He started drinking early and didn’t stop. His poison Corona beers held him in place between piss and smoke breaks.

A friendly, helpful sort he wanted to assist folks and started to rebuild outboard motors and handled dinghy repairs. Never said a bad thing about anyone.

Bandit’s Cantina Episode 96 : a 2021 Christmas story

by K.Randall Ball

Bandit looked around at the dozen or so kids and looked at the sleek classic chopper with highbars he was building. The Knucklehead engine and transmission were now in place.

Marko approached and whispered something into Bandit’s ear, “Exactly,” Bandit added.

It was the week after Thanksgiving. Marko disappeared for a minute and returned with a couple of large boxes marked, “Xmas.”

“We need to do something to brighten Christmas for these kids. I’m going to paint the Chopper red and white for the holidays.” said Bandit.

Annual Motorcycle Ride for Toys for Tots to Begin October 24

By General Posts

by Allison Keys from https://www.krqe.com

On Sunday, Oct. 24, the 17th Annual Ride for Toys for Tots will kick off the season.

Toys for Tots begins collections for holiday season during motorcycle run.

As a child, there is nothing quite as exciting as waking up on Christmas morning with presents under the tree. However, not every child gets to experience that feeling.

The Toys for Tots campaign works to change that. Assistant Program Coordinator Paul Caputo and Maj. Mike Schroeder discuss the campaign and how it’s making a difference in the lives of local children.

A program by the US Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots strives to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December every year and to distribute them as Christmas gifts to children in need within the community.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, the 17th Annual Ride for Toys for Tots will kick off the season at the Super Walmart located on 528 and Enchanted Hills. Registration for the motorcycle ride starts at 9 a.m. with a ride to Thunderbird Harley-Davidson at 5000 Alameda Blvd. for an afterparty. The entry fee to the event is an unwrapped gift.

For more information on how to get involved with the program, visit https://toysfortots.org/.

If you’d like to put a donation box for toys at your business, call Paul Caputo at 505-975-2033.

Frazier’s Harley-Davidson to host 32nd annual toy ride

By General Posts

by Regan Spinks from https://accesswdun.com

Motorcyclists with Frazier’s Harley-Davidson in Buford will conduct their 32nd annual Toy Ride on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Each year, Frazier’s Harley-Davidson collects hundreds of toys and monetary donations to benefit the Chattahoochee Baptist Association’s Christmas Hope program, which provides presents for underprivileged children. After collecting the donations, motorcyclists deliver them to the association in their annual Toy Ride.

Approximately 100 motorcyclists will make the journey to deliver donated toys on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. Many riders will display the donated toys on their motorcycles during the ride.

“The Toy Ride is a great way to make a difference in a child’s life this Christmas season,” Frazier’s Harley-Davidson Owner Bill Frazier said in a statement Thursday.

Upon arriving at the Chattahoochee Baptist Association building on McEver Road in Gainesville, the riders join in an assembly line to bring all the toys into Santa’s Workshop. Frazier’s Harley-Davidson officials said that the Toy Ride is a great opportunity to feel the holiday spirit.

“Without the help of Frazier’s Harley-Davidson, this program would not be nearly what it is today,” said Wanda Oliver of the Christmas Hope Program. “It is so exciting to see and hear all the motorcycles coming in.”

Ho Ho Harley time!

By General Posts

by Biker Dad, Chris Best from https://www.wkrg.com

It’s Ho – Ho – Harley time! Bikers are about to give back in a big way in the next few days.

The bikers are riding for Santa this weekend in support of the Salvation Army Angel Tree and the WKRG Magical Christmas Toy Drive. No matter if you are in Alabama or Florida, you can help in a big way this weekend.

First, WKRG and the Biker Dad Blog have teamed up with the Caballeros Acero Riding Club for the Magical Christmas Toy Run, riding from Tillman’s Corner Saturday at 2pm to the Salvation Army Warehouse at the mall. Please come ride with us and bring a toy. Get all the info here.

And if you can’t make that, the Florida ABATE Toy Run which is also in benefit of the Salvation Army is Sunday starting at Harley Davidson of Pensacola. Click here for all the info on both toy runs.

Not all of the bikers out there are on the nice list as we found some crazy video of one very naughty rider. He’s only 19 take a look at the video above. This happened in London. The person riding that motorcycle at 180 miles per hour is only 1, leading police on a wild chase through the very congested city and finally coming to stop because to refuel. He just pled guilty to charges and will be sentenced in January. More info here.

Veterans Day was just a few weeks ago, but for bikers, it’s always time to honor our vets. I don’t get to do this very often, so I thought I would mention it this week. The Patriot Guard Riders ride loud motorcycles but are quietly honoring or vets almost every week. This week I had the honor of riding with them to pay tribute to a Vietnam war hero and escort him to his final resting place.

Mike Shiver was in the Airforce in Vietnam. Although the loss was great for his family, you could see the comfort and pride they had when dozens of Patriot Guard Riders came to show their respects. It was certainly an honor for me to be a part of it. And they need more people to ride with them. It was a good showing for this ride, but the PGR needs more riders to step up.

British Prime Minister receives a motorcycle for Christmas

By General Posts

The PM, who is banned from cycling for security reasons, was reportedly given an off-roader

Boris Johnson was given an off-road motorbike by his girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, for Christmas, it has been reported.

The prime minister received a second-hand Yamaha TT-R125 from the 31-year-old, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The bike, thought to be worth about £1,000, can reach speeds of up to 55mph.

Mr Johnson told journalists last week that he would like a new bicycle for Christmas, but said he would have to buy it himself.

He was forced to give up cycling around London when he became foreign secretary and then prime minister because of security precautions.

However, he may find the grounds of his country retreat Chequers, in Buckinghamshire, the perfect playground for a motorbike.

Mr Johnson is currently holidaying on the private island of Mustique in the Caribbean with Symonds.

Known for its white sandy beaches, the exclusive island in the archipelago nation of St Vincent and the Grenadines is a favourite of the rich and famous, with Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger owning property there.

Pictures released on Saturday appeared to show Johnson and Symonds travelling in economy-class seats on a British Airways flight to St Lucia, before travelling on to Mustique.
