Americade reschedules 2021 motorcycle rally for Sept. 21-25

from https://www.news10.com After last year’s rally being canceled, the 2021 Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally is playing things as safe as possible in order to rev the engines around the COVID-19 pandemic. The 38th annual Americade rally has been rescheduled from its original planned June dates to Sept. 21-25, according to event manager Christian Dutcher. That additional time was added to make the difference in safety confidence for riders, vendors, and the village of Lake George. “We want to make 100% sure that a 2021 Americade will happen, but we’re not confident an event of this size will be permissible in June,” said Dutcher. “But, moving it to September gives us a very high likelihood of it happening. And, September is also a perfect time of year for riding, with mild temperatures, no rain, and foliage season beginning. It should be beautiful.” Americade said that the decision also helped them to secure certain venues, some of which can more easily agree to involvement with more time for vaccines to be administered across the state and nation, and ideally for coronavirus restrictions to be lifted. The new dates also allow riders and visitors to enjoy the village during the fall, not too far past the summer tourist season, without bumping heads against Labor Day weekend. “We’re very lucky to have found a 2021 date that works for the community and for the motorcycle industry,” said Dutcher. “I feared we may have to cancel until Americade 2022, but miraculously we are able to slide it into September.”

Americade sets July date for 2020 motorcycle rally

(NEWS10) — The 2020 Americade motorcycle rally, a yearly staple event for the village, announced Wednesday that they would be moving their date for the year back by a couple months as a response to COVID-19. The event, originally set for June, is now being planned for July 21-25. “The health of our community and our guests is paramount, but it is our sincere hope that by late July, it will be possible to bring Americade back to Lake George as long as there are no federal, state or local regulations that would preclude it,” wrote Americade organizer Christian  Dutcher in a news release. “We will be very sensitive to public health concerns. We will conduct Americade 2020 in a manner that is respectful of the terrible ordeal this pandemic has caused.’’ In addition, this year’s Americade will employ a variety of safety procedures in order to ensure safety in the event that coronavirus fears are still active in the region. This year, the motorcycle event is going “touchless.” In accordance with guidance from Warren County, Americade will be enforcing a restricted number of attendees in a given space; removing certain events based on usual crowd size; asking attendees to register online instead of in-person; facilitate unguided rides; and encourage riders to use a variety of local restaurants for lunches while riding, in order to avoid anywhere being inundated by crowds. ‘’Americade’s decision to postpone rather than cancel is a welcome decision for our region’s economy,” wrote Lake George Mayor Robert Blais. “Our great family resort has the ability to host a wide variety of events successfully and cooperatively. Honda Unveils Custom Gold Wing at Daytona Bike Week

RiderMagazine.com Reports – Honda unveiled a custom Gold Wing at Daytona Bike Week, dubbed “Cool Wing” built by Kevin Dunn, Duy Nguyen, Jimmy Chen and Ray Tong, of Southern California’s Steady Garage. The design challenge was to create something that was stylish but without straying too far from functionality. Following an extensive draft process, designer Francis Clemente came up with a design that could stimulate both customizers and purists. Air suspension and batique-style mufflers were examples of elements that were key to creating the build’s silhouette, but a handcrafted leather saddle, bare metal details and scallops in the paint brought the Cool Wing to life. Mooneyes built a mold specifically for the project in order to make the disc covers for the Gold Wing front rim, while Platinum Air Suspension provided air shocks to help achieve the slammed stance without sacrificing the ride height. The onboard air is stored on two Dirty Work stainless steel air tanks, with air supplied by a single Viair 380c air compressor. Maxima Imagen painted over 33 individual parts and Electrical Connection provided dress-up components. Cub Group supplied the industry’s first motorcycle blind-spot monitoring system (BSM), and Rogelio’s Auto Upholstery did a fantastic job with the seat. The custom Gold Wing would be appreciated by riders of all ages, interests and backgrounds. The Cool Wing will be on display at multiple events this year including the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and the Americade Rally.
