Zero Motorcycles Announces Early Release of All Electric Motorcycles

Zero Motorcycles, makers of electric bikes for 15 years, is going to have a real challenge keeping up with demand it seems. The Santa Cruz, California-based EV manufacturer announced it’s going to release several of its 2022 electric bike models ahead of schedule to satiate what they called “unprecedented demand”. Including the model year 2022 S street motorcycles, DS, and DSR dual-sport models. Zero Motorcycles claims this dramatic uptick in demand for electric bikes is partially due to lockdown restrictions from the latest public health crisis finally being lifted, creating a surge of riders chomping at the bits to get back on the road again. This desire to get bikes on the road before the end of the 2021 riding season is the main impetus for this change of pace. The company also claims that demand in the electric motorcycle category far outpaces the demand for traditional internal combustion-powered motorcycles. While this claim can not be verified, the industry-wide shift from petroleum to electric drive in cars over the last five years makes this a more agreeable claim. Zero’s line of motorcycles coves a wide range of different motorcycle categories, including normal street bikes, street racing bikes, supermoto, and even motocross. The company touts performance specs like a top speed of 98 miles per hour (158 kilometers per hour) and a range of 82 miles on its 2022 Zero S street bikes. Crushing the Record for the World’s Longest Motorcycle the American Way

Bharat Sinh Parmar holds the Guinness World Record since 2014. That didn’t sit well with the guys from Bikes and Beards, who decided to bring that record to the United States, using a vintage Japanese bike. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, Bikes and Beards is the YouTube channel of SRK Cycles, a bike dealer based in Pennsylvania. This isn’t their first unusual vlog, as the whole purpose of the channel is to redefine the way you use a motorcycle and push the boundaries of human creativity. In case you haven’t slept well at night wondering if you can run a motorcycle underwater for 10 minutes, do browse their channel and you’ll find out. The common approach for others who’ve tried to build a long motorcycle has been to place the engine and the drive train on the front, then add a long swingarm and then the wheel in the back. But there’s a simpler way to do things, which is to build two square tubes at both ends of the bike and have them welded on the motorcycle. The long frame would then get connected to those tubes. The guys’ bike, a 1980 Honda CB750 Custom motorcycle, ended up measuring 108 ft, which was a success, not to mention the fact that everything was accomplished within one week. In order to break the record, the motorcycle had to prove it can actually handle itself on the road, taking turns and everything. Over 8500 Motorcycles Ride in Support of Marine Cpl Humberto “Bert” Sanchez

by Rogue and John Lee What an honor it was to be part of the procession for Marine Cpl Humberto “Bert” Sanchez. Over. 8500 bikes came in from multiple other states to show their support. That alone was something amazing to see. There were so many bikes that there was no good way to even get a photo to show the amount of bikes that were there. The Marine Riders were towards the front of the procession and when we pulled out to follow the behind Cpl Sanchez there were people lining the streets. From the gates of Grissom Airforce base all the way to Logansport. A good 20 miles of people on the side of the road. Everyone had American Flags waving. Lots of Marine Corps flags too. Multiple ladder trucks with flags draped over the road. Old men in their uniforms from when they served saluting the entire procession. Children holding their parents hands. Family pets. People crying and holding their hands over their hearts. People playing Patriotic music. And that’s before we even got to Logansport. Cpl Sanchez received an aerial escort from 4 A10 Warthogs as we neared. They flew over us multiple times before circling the front end of the procession. They would come buzzing in a couple hundred feet off the ground. Then as we come into Logansport it’s just a sea of people lining the street. Tens of Thousands of people lined the city streets for Cpl Sanchez’s final few miles. I would guess anywhere from 10,000-20,000 people were lined up along the roads from Peru to Logansport. Absolutely amazing. Well done Indiana! That’s was an amazing homecoming for a hero. I am honored to have been a part of this and happy I got to ride next to my Marine Rider Brothers.

Blue Knights III motorcycle club to hold a remembrance ride on Sunday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — A group of bikers will head to the streets Sunday to remember and honor the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The “Blue Knights III” is a part of an international motorcycle club comprised of active and retired police officers. The Knoxville chapter of riders is holding a remembrance ride on Sunday at Bootlegger’s Harley Davidson, in West Knoxville. Nearly 3,000 people died in the terrorist attacks, and 400 were emergency workers. In the motorcycle club, 8 members were New York Police Department officers at the time and more of these riders rushed in to help. Robert McCaffery is a member of the Blue Knights III. For 20 years, he has carried a terrifying memory. “It was just a horrendous scene. There was smoke and there was fire. It smelled,” he said. A former captain for the Morris County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey, Mccaffery like many other first responders volunteered to help search for victims after the attack on the World Trade Center. “There was grey dust everywhere. There were people everywhere. It was all quite disorganized. There was nobody in charge. Nobody in command. You just kind of pick up your spot on the pile and you started picking things up and handing it back,” Mccaffery said. He said that he met up with an NYPD officer in Staten Island before taking a ferry into the city, where much of the devastation was. OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha police said it’s not safe to have hundreds of motorcycles on the route that will only be blocked off for the fallen Marine Cpl. Daegan Page and his family to pass. It really took me by surprise,” said Scott Knudsen, Nebraska State Captain, Patriot Guard Riders. Knudsen and other Patriot Guard Riders said they’ve never been denied a place in a military motorcade and asked Page’s father for permission to be part of Friday’s event. “We never go anywhere unless we are invited. We always seek out permission to achieve permission from appropriate people,” Knudsen said. But Omaha police asked all groups to stay out of the motorcade for safety reasons, disappointing Knudsen and hundreds of riders coming from Western Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa. “It’s really a shame that it has come to this, but we are in different times today. I don’t know all the details I’m certainly not blaming the Omaha Police Department or the sheriff’s department or anybody else,” Knudsen said. “We decided for safety sake and not tie up the intersection,” said Steve Lahrs, Director of American Legions Millard Post. The former mansion of Harley-Davidson co-founder William S. Harley in Washington Heights was recently on the market for the first time in decades. The home at 4906 W. Washington Boulevard was built in 1916 and designed by architect Charles Valentine. The original estimated cost was $8,000, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Harley family moved into the home a couple of years after it was built. Harley, along with his friend Arthur Davidson and Arthur’s brother Walter Davidson, founded the motorcycle brand. Harley and the Davidsons built their first motorcycle in 1903. By 1913, the company had built almost 13,000 motorcycles. The vintage Mediterranean revival mansion was listed for sale at $399,000. The 3,821 square-foot home has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It also features a sun room, grand foyer, formal dining room, fireplace and indoor fountain. Throughout the home are hardwood floors, French doors and arched windows. While the home is spacious (sitting a .28-acre lot), there is a lot of work that needs to be done on it. The electrical system needs updating. The bathrooms are all vintage tile with pedestal sinks. The current owners lived in the home for decades and moved out a couple months ago. The mansion will be sold in “as-in” condition, according to the listing. The property went under contract Tuesday, said the listing agent Mike Argeropoulos of Riverwest Realty. Argeropoulos said the buyer intends to preserve the home. Argeropoulos said more than 200 people came to the open house last weekend. Multiple offers were received, Argeropoulos said. The last time this property was on the market was 1976 when John and Camille Shaw bought it for $44,500, according to city records.

Outlander’s Sam Heughan cruises on a Harley Davidson as he holidays in LA

The 41-year-old actor has been enjoying some down time since Outlander wrapped back in June. He recently travelled to Mexico and before heading into the US where today he posted a picture of himself riding around LA on a plush Harley Davidson bike. He wrote on Instagram: “Been cruising in the California sunshine! Thank you @harleydavidson for the loan of these sweet wheels. In August last year, the actor passed his motorbike driving test in Rutherglen after taking a lessons for over a year. He has since been out and about in Glasgow on his bike and now he posted the new snap in the Highlands while visiting for a work shoot. Outlander is a historical drama television series based on the ongoing novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. Developed by Ronald D. Moore (the Battlestar Galactica developer), the show premiered on August 9, 2014, on Starz. The series has been renewed for an 8-episode sixth season and a 16-episode seventh season.
