We are living in such strange times, but I keep dreaming. Did you know the people finally got tired of the McCarthy era and put an end to it? It kicked off after WWII accusing folks of being communist. McCarthy asked kids to snitch on their folks and school teachers. Ultimately the public demanded the communist doom to end.
Let me dream for just a minute. What if a few guys got their heads together and put together a resolution, which demanded Scientific Transparency? It demanded that our government put a panel together to determine whether there is a Climate Emergency or not.
What if we could get it supported by every automotive and motorcycle group in the country and then we submitted to every politician we could get our hands on and forced a public hearing.
Imagine what that could mean for the world. We could be free again. We could be living in the best of times not the worst. We could deal on a level playing field once more. At least we would know the truth.
Imagine if this happened because of a handful of grubby bikers. As Kirk Willard, the president of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation said, “Bikers have done it before.” I need to dream, because I can’t ever give up.

Overview: Tennessee introduces SAN-opposed legislation (S.B. 434/ H.B. 769) that states it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle that is not equipped with a muffler deemed to not be in good working order or if the vehicle produces excessive or unusual or annoying smoke. S.B. 434 is awaiting consideration in the Senate Transportation and Safety Committee and H.B. 769 will be heard on March 1st in the House Transportation Subcommittee.
Tennessee needs to implement a fair testing procedure and decibel limit for vehicle owners accused of unreasonable exhaust noise violations. Other states have adopted a decibel limit of 95 decibels when tested under and SAE International procedure, which provides a fair and reasonable working system. This SAN-supported SAE test is conducted in a controlled environment using objective methodology. This solution offers Tennessee a clear standard with a proven record of success.

THE GAS STOVE FILES–Biden Admin Proposes to Block Half of Current Gas Range Models
A new regulation proposed by the Department of Energy (DOE) would block half of current gas stove models from the market, an analysis by the federal agency shows.
In a proposed regulation published at the beginning of February, DOE set a maximum annual gas consumption of 1,204 thousand British thermal units (kBtu), also known as the EL 2 standard, for all gas cooking tops.
If the new regulation is finalized, only half of gas cooking tops will be able to meet the new standard, i.e., half of the products currently on the market will be blocked.
“DOE estimates that nearly half of the total gas cooking top market currently achieves EL 2 and therefore would not be impacted by the proposed standard, if finalized,” DOE said in an updated analysis (pdf).
DOE issued the updated analysis mainly because it excluded certain types of gas cooking tops in the previous analysis that was published on Feb. 1 (pdf).
Only 4 percent of the gas cooking tops in 2027 could meet the EL 2 standard if the new standard was not implemented, according to DOE’s projection in the previous analysis.

ARREST OF THE WEEK–
A man was being investigated for DUI on a Florida road, cops say. Then he cracked a beer

Florida deputies working uniformed patrol saw something amiss on a Cape Coral road just before midnight on Feb. 8, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
As per a police report obtained by the Miami Herald, when their car approached Gleason Parkway, “something caught their eye.”
It was a black 2018 Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan parked in the right-hand lane facing southbound. There was no traffic at the time and the vehicle had its lights on, blocking all traffic in that side of the road.
“The vehicle was just sitting there,” reads the report, which adds that deputies crept behind the car and tried to determine if it had been abandoned.
Inside, 40-year-old Michael Sereda was sitting alone in the front passenger seat. “The offender was not observed in operation of the vehicle involved nor was he involved in a traffic collision,” notes the LCSO complaint.
Serada, who refused to give a breath sample, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage “emanating from his facial area,” as well as “bloodshot, watery eyes and a slurred, delayed, repetitive speech pattern,” said the affidavit.
“Multiple open alcohol containers were observed between Sereda’s legs and in the front cup holders. …The suspect was unable to speak based on his level of intoxication.”
Officers from the Cape Coral Police Department were called to assist. While waiting for backup, a deputy observed Sereda reach between his legs and grab an unopened beer, and crack the tab. The deputy attempted to grab the can from Sereda when he began to resist and pull away.
Once the individual was out of the car, Standardized Field Sobriety Evaluations could not be completed due to the suspect being “unable to support his own weight, and continuously, actively resisting deputies.”
After a brief investigation, the deputy found probable cause to arrest the man. Charges included driving under the influence and resisting an officer without violence.
He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital as “a disorderly subject” and required the assistance of security guards and a wheelchair.
Hospital staff medically cleared Serada, who was transported to the Lee County Jail in “apparent good health and without further incident.”
The Mercedes was towed, with photographs of multiple open containers of Michelob Ultra in the cup holders — in addition to several open boxes of Bud Light 24 packs.
According to court records, Sereda was released on $2,500 bond.

Winton: “When I became Reuters global Science and Technology Correspondent in the mid-1990s, the global warming story was top of my agenda. Already by then the BBC was scaring us saying we would all die unless humankind mended its selfish ways. Carbon dioxide (CO2) was the culprit and had to be tamed, then eliminated. I had no reason to think this wasn’t established fact. I was wrong.
My Reuters credentials meant that I had easy access to the world’s finest climate scientists. To my amazement, none of these would say categorically that the link between CO2 and global warming, now known as climate change, was a proven scientific fact. Some said human production of CO2 was a probable cause, others that it might make some contribution; some said CO2 had no role at all. Everybody agreed that the climate had warmed over the last 10,000 years as the ice age retreated, but most weren’t really sure why. The sun’s radiation, which changes over time, was a favoured culprit.”
When I first started writing about human-induced climate change (or global warming as it was then known) as Reuters’ Science & Technology Correspondent back in the mid-90s, I turned to a subject I knew from headlines rather than research.
But I had expectations. After all, even then, the BBC was reporting as fact global warming was upon us, it was all our fault, and we’d all die soon if we didn’t listen to those that know best and act.
Imagine my amazement when I started talking to the world’s top climate scientists and found a completely different story. The science wasn’t even close to being proven, and I had great difficulty finding anyone to say the link between excessive human-made carbon dioxide (CO2) and a changing climate was clear. There were many assumptions, but no proof. Yet the BBC and the mainstream media (MSM) constantly reported a proven doom scenario.
Fast forward 20 years and firm proof CO2 was warming the climate still hasn’t been established, but politics has taken over. Sure, there are plenty of computer models with their hidden assumptions ‘proving’ man is guilty as charged, and the assumption that we had the power and knowledge to change the climate became embedded.
The Left had lost all of the economic arguments by the 1990s, and its activists eagerly grabbed the chance to say free markets and small government couldn’t save us from climate change; only government intervention could do that. Letting capitalism run free was a certain way to ensure the end of the planet; smart Lefties should take charge and save us from ourselves.
The debate about climate change is far from over. I’m not a scientist so I don’t know enough to say it’s all man-made or not. But politicians and lobbyists have decided that we are all guilty. They are in the process of dismantling our way of life, ordering us to comply because it’s all for the future and our children. If we are going to give up our civilization, at the very least we ought to have an open debate. Journalists need to stand up and be counted. The trouble is that requires bravery and energy, and an urge to question conventional wisdom.
Reuters should be leading this movement. All it has to do is stand by its 10 Hallmarks. And maybe tell CCN thanks but no thanks; it needs to apply Reuters principles to its climate reporting.

SEMA-Supported REPAIR Act Reintroduced in U.S. House of Representatives
U.S. Representative Neal Dunn (R-FL) introduced H.R. 906, the “Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act,” as the result of the efforts of SEMA, MEMA Aftermarket, the Auto Care Association and the CAR Coalition. The REPAIR Act seeks to protect consumers’ rights to decide where and with what parts they can use to repair and maintain their vehicles. Representatives Brendan Boyle (D-PA-02), Warren Davidson (R-OH-08) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA-03) are the current co-sponsors of the bill.
New barriers to working on your own vehicle, independent automotive repair and manufacturing replacement parts are emerging as vehicle technology evolves. While many aftermarket businesses and automotive enthusiasts rely on access to diagnostic data through the OBD-II port, they also need access to telematics data and information that is wirelessly transmitted directly to vehicle manufacturers. The REPAIR Act ensures that vehicle owners and repair businesses have access to this information, which is critical to maintaining a competitive repair market.

GRETA PROTESTING WIND FARMS—
Greta Thunberg has been taking part in a five-day protest blocking the entrance to Norway’s energy ministry to protest against wind turbines.
Miss Thunberg was specifically demonstrating against wind turbines built on land traditionally used by indigenous Sami reindeer herders.
“Indigenous rights, human rights, must go hand-in-hand with climate protection and climate action. That can’t happen at the expense of some people. Then it is not climate justice,” she said while sitting outside the ministry’s main entrance with other demonstrators.
Norway’s supreme court in 2021 ruled that two wind farms built in central Norway violated Sami rights under international conventions, but the turbines remain in operation more than 16 months later.
Reindeer herders in the Nordic country say the sight and sound of the giant wind power machinery frighten their animals and disrupt age-old traditions.
Ms Thunberg and a dozen other Sami demonstrators have occupied the ministry’s reception area since Thursday. Police forcibly removed them at around 1.30am on Monday and detained them before releasing them.

Indian Motorcycle has announced the signing of Jamie Kimber and Gerard Bailo to contend the 2023 DTRA Hooligan class following the recent US race team announcements. Having been spotted by Indian Motorcycle UK, Jamie was awarded a scholarship as the Indian Motorcycle Academy rider aboard the Indian Scout Hooligan for the 2022 season and proved worthy with fourth in the overall championship standings. A recent graduate in Sports Psychology and Coaching sciences, Jamie has competed in many sports from triathlons to rugby but says there is nothing like throwing a leg over a motorcycle and heading to the start line. Gerard Bailo started competing in Supermoto in 2007 when he was just 13 years old and made his Flat Track debut in 2014. Quickly proving competitive, Gerard took third that year and, in 2016, improved to second in the open category. By 2017, Gerard had several regional Supermoto championships under his belt plus the Junior Nations world title and decided to fully commit to Flat Track racing with an opportunity in the DTRA series. Competing only in flat track since then, Gerard had his best season in 2022 winning the FIM Flat Track World Championship. Gerard will compete in the Indian Motorcycle Hooligan series aboard the Indian FTR 1200 prepared by S&S Cycle, while balancing his racing commitments with work in his family’s Insurance business. Mushman is offered in two displacements: 125cc and 250cc. Both are powered by air-cooled, single-cylinder engines that are mated to five-speed gearboxes. UPDATE—ACTION REQUIRED: HAWAII ADVANCES BILLS TO UNFAIRLY TOUGHEN EXHAUST NOISE PENALTIES—
Overview: Hawaii has introduced SAN-opposed legislation (S.B. 586 / S.B. 587) to reform enforcement of its exhaust noise laws.
However, the underlying laws are fundamentally flawed. Currently, Hawaii prohibits mufflers that “noticeably increase the noise” and mandates that mufflers must be identical to their factory setting.
The current law is unenforceable as it is vague, subjective, and unfair. The bills passed the Senate Committee on Transportation and Culture and the Arts and await consideration in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Hawaii needs to implement a fair testing procedure and decibel limit for vehicle owners accused of unreasonable exhaust noise violations. Other states have adopted a decibel limit of 95 decibels when tested under and SAE International procedure, which provides a fair and reasonable working system.
This SAN-supported SAE test is conducted in a controlled environment using objective methodology. This solution offers Hawaii a clear standard with a proven record of success.

He’s working through the healing process and through the pain without medication. He has learned to deal with the pain and focus on healing and strengthening himself. Be patient.

Screamin’ Eagle 135ci Stage IV Crate Engine

The Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin produces 143 lb-ft of torque and 130 horsepower.
Tens of millions of dollars and countless man-hours go into Harley-Davidson’s King of the Baggers operation. None of those resources go to waste, either, with the Motor Company snatching the KotB crown in 2021 and nearly repeating in 2022. The fruits of the race team’s labor go beyond the circuit as well, with H-D engineers and designers fashioning race-developed parts for brand faithful.
Now, Harley brings even more KotB-proven performance to the market with its Screamin’ Eagle 135ci Stage IV crate engine. The new top-dog Milwaukee-Eight V-twin features the same 68mm throttle body and CNC-machined intake manifold originally designed for Kyle and Travis Wyman’s championship-contending Road Glide Special. Screamin’ Eagle Extreme CNC-ported cylinder heads, high-performance valve spring, and an SE8-517 high-lift camshaft take full advantage of the V-twin’s larger 2,212cc volume.
Forged pistons shoot through 4.31-inch steel-sleeve cylinders with 4.625 inches of stroke. The 4 5/8-inch flywheel steadies the big-bore M8, while the Screamin’ Eagle Pro Billet Cam Plate and Oil Pump maintain optimal oil pressure. With a 10.7:1 compression ratio and high-flow fuel injectors (6.8 grams/second), the 135 crate engine lays down 143 lb-ft of torque (at 3,500 rpm) and 130 horsepower (at 5500 rpm)—all at the rear wheel.
That output eclipses the Bar and Shield’s largest production engine, the Milwaukee-Eight 117, by 28 percent in the torque department and 41 percent in pony power. Harley-Davidson recommends pairing the Stage IV Milwaukee-Eight with Screamin’ Eagle Ventilator Extreme Air Cleaner and Screamin’ Eagle Street Cannon mufflers to achieve those reported power figures.
Retailing for $7,999.95, the Screamin’ Eagle 135ci Stage IV Performance Crate Engine comes in a Black or Chrome finish and is compatible with 2021 and later Touring models (sans Trikes). The brand also offers the crate engine in Air/Oil-Cooled and Twin-Cooled configurations.
To retain emissions and warranty compliance, the installation also requires ECM recalibration with the Screamin’ Eagle Pro Street Tuner. Of course, 135 Stage IV badging on the cylinder heads and timer cover lets everyone know that your Hog benefits from KotB-derived performance.

On February 14, 2023, Birmingham, U.K.-based motorcycle company Mutt officially introduced its revived Mushman in two displacements: 125cc and 250cc. It’s Mutt’s newest scrambler on the block, and it comes with a number of features to set it apart from the pack.
Both displacements are powered by air-cooled, single-cylinder engines that are mated to five-speed gearboxes. The 125cc makes a claimed 10 newton-meters (about 7.37 pound-feet) of torque, while the 250cc makes a claimed 18 newton-meters (about 13.27 pound-feet) of torque. Other differences include a combined braking system (CBS) on the 125, while the 250 gets an anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The Mutt Mushman comes with 18-inch stainless-steel spoked wheels with black rims, knobby tires, black tracker handlebars, grips that feature black diamond-pattern rubber and aluminum, a black vinyl seat, and LED lighting. Other features exclusive to the Mushman in Mutt’s lineup include matt black engine bars, a leather tank strap, and a steel tank rack.
“The inspiration for the styling of the Mushman came from the idea of early scramblers,” Mutt co-founder Benny Thomas said in a statement.
“The simple practice of preparing a road bike for off-road use by taking the bulky bits off, fitting knobby tires and high-rise mudguards to create a stripped-down bike that does exactly what it says on the box. While the Mushman was never intended to be a scrambler, it has the look and the feel of something Mr McQueen would ride between shoots if he was around in 2023,” he continued.
“It’s the ultimate hack-around bike. Lightweight, good looking and perfect for taking on the city or hitting the country lanes. ‘Nothing Fancy’ is the motto for all our Mutts, and I wanted to keep the Mushman simple and classy, but add some fresh new bits and pieces such as the engine bars, tank strap & rack, all-new adjustable CNC levers, and LED indicators and headlamp,” Thomas concluded.

A limited-edition Matt Green will become available shortly after that, according to the company. It’s not clear how limited-edition that color will be, so if you’re interested, your best bet is to act and/or ask quickly.

Mike Baron is a biker and a prolific writer who is currently signed with Wolf Pack Publishing. He recently converted from Liberty Island Publishing to Wolfpack and this is book three in the series Bad Road Rising about a biker/private investigator. Wolfpack currently has over 100 authors cranking out adventure books, including biker novels.
A friend introduced me to Mike and I agreed to review one of his books. Since I wasn’t familiar with his line of Bad Road Rising, the title of the book caught me off guard, Not Fade Away. It didn’t seem to speak to anything, but if I read books one and two, I’m sure it would have clicked.

Reformed motorcycle hoodlum Josh Pratt has had some curious cases, but this is the first time he’s been asked to find a missing song. After the late, great Wes Magnum wrote “Marissa,”‘ his band Cretacious rose from small-town Wisconsin to storm the world’s stages.
Marissa Yeager claims Wes wrote the song about her and gave it to her. But she’s never been able to prove her claim and now an insurance company is using it as a jingle. Marissa hires Josh to prove she owns the song.

Author Mike Baron Mike Baron is the creator of Nexus (with artist Steve Rude) and Badger two of the longest lasting independent superhero comics. Nexus is about a cosmic avenger 500 years in the future. Badger, about a multiple personality one of whom is a costumed crime fighter. First/Devils Due is publishing all new Badger stories. Baron has won two Eisners and an Inkpot award and written The Punisher, Flash, Deadman and Star Wars among many other titles.
Baron has published ten novels that span a variety of topics. They have satanic rock bands, biker zombies, spontaneous human combustion, ghosts, and overall hard-boiled crimes.
Mike Baron has written for The Boston Phoenix, Boston Globe, Oui, Fusion, Creem, Isthmus, Front Page Mag, and Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine.
As I mention, he’s a prolific literary creator and his book contains a very readable style. Most chapters are less than three pages. It makes it a blast to skim through a chapter and return to your girl, a beer or working on your bike.
I’m about 2/3s the way through Not Fade Away and the story shifts from Wisconsin to Hollywood and back to Colorado. It takes you into mansions in Beverly Hills to hidden cannabis facilities in the hills of Colorado. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Crashes and collisions continue to increase involving motorcycles and one of the most effective ways for those involved to survive is to be treated at the scene by others until more trained people like EMTs arrive.
The American Legion is a very large organization and each chapters can include a motorcycle group named Legion Riders. Working with the American Legion organization affords out teachers to reach a lot of people. The more people trained the higher the possibility of saving more lives.

Biker Lives Matter continues to provide Accident Scene Management Courses with the American Legion in Florida. Crashes and collisions continue to increase involving motorcycles and one of the most effective ways for those involved to survive is to be treated at the scene by others until more trained people like EMTs arrive.
The American Legion is a very large organization and each chapters can include a motorcycle group named Legion Riders. Working with the American Legion organization affords out teachers to reach a lot of people. The more people trained the higher the possibility of saving more lives.

This led to having a class at the American Legion Riders Florida Summit in Orlando, Florida.
This class though open to any American Legion Member Free of Charge, was mainly for some of the officers as they would be the ones moving the process forward through the organization.
At this time the classes are being sponsored by organizations and by Attorneys like the Fran Haasch Law Group who are well known for helping motorcyclist in Florida
Bryan York is their event coordinator and was one of the people taking this particular class. By him doing so, he has first hand knowledge and a certificate of completion. Once someone takes the course, they can better explain to others how it would benefit them.
Having a trauma kit is very important. There are many different ones of various sizes. But there are also items you may have with you just as part of your normal motorcycle attire that will further assist you. All this is taught in the class.
The class was taught by Dee MacLennan who is the Accident Scene Management Lead Instructor in Florida.

TOO HIP, Conversation with the Babes

Yo, Bandit! That’s hep talk from the ‘50s daddy-o! Except for the yo. That’s….I dunno. That’s……I dunno.
So! Dig these smoke rings in my head right now! So, I was thinkin’ about, ya know, when I was cool? That was….what: ‘75? Not when I was 75. But when, like, the whole earth was ‘75? Or, 1975? Yeah. That was it. 1975. I was thinkin’ “I used to be normal. Now I’m all So Serious.
The Joker would be chastising me. ‘Why so serious?’ he would say. He yoosta say that. So, I was thinkin’ fuck this writing for whatever the “biker” audience thinks it is now: how about going back in time and being normal? And when BIKERS were fucking normal. This was me talkin’ to me. So, I said “Who even the fuck are you?” Haha, turns out it was me.
So anyway, here’s some, like, one-on-one talk with the gals. Guys don’t write advisories to women. Except in cards. That someone else writes. That ain’t right. What, they’re actually second class citizens? No, that’s OUR job.
They’re human beings. We need to actually talk to them like they’re human beings. Let them know that they are actually on our mind. Too many dudes today are all, “Oh well, I am too very manly to be talking to women like as though I am actually paying attention to what they are doing.” I decided to buck that crowd. This is for the gals.
Hi, could I just talk to the gals for a minute? I want to give you ladies some calming reassurance regarding cooking. Ya know what? I’ve spent a lotta time in kitchens. Worked in restaurants, had cooks in the family, coupla chefs in fact: here’s some calming advice about you maybe stressing that something might go wrong when makin’ the meal.
I know how it is, you are basically assembling, well, a creation. You are creating a final product from a step by step addition of individual items that at the end are supposed to cohere into a pleasant experience: not to look at or USE but to actually eat.
Cooking is a special art form: you eat the final result. That’s just its nature! But ya know what? sometimes things just plain old somehow go disastrously south. too much o’ this not enough o’ that, something’s sliced wrong, bad carrots, the fire’s too hot, the fire’s too cold, the pan was too full, too empty, too small, too big, too much water, not enough water.
I mean it’s endless. But not to fret hon! remember – and there’s just two things on this list: 1: it’s just food. toss it out and do it again. Shit, fucking happens. And 2: you’re a gal! no one expects miracles! I mean you give birth to new people! that’s miracle enough! competence with knives? fire? addition? subtraction? ounces? half ounces? cups? quarts? pinch? scoche? dab? tincture? and don’t get me started on the number of spices and flavoring containers inside that second home of yours, the Kitchen Cabinets.
But ya know what? we just love the way you don’t give up, DESPITE the fact that as far as us guys are concerned you couldn’t cook your way out of Guy Fieri’s kitchen with Gordon Ramsay and Wolfgang Puck cheering you on and doing most of the work. But hon? We don’t care!! It’s ok!! We’ll eat it! We just won’t like it! But we won’t say this fucking sucks. You’re out there in that darn kitchen making an effort. We love that!
Remember: you’re the only one who thinks you can cook. Everyone else knows you suck at it. But you know what? Whether you get all the ingredients right… and get all the cooking times right…and get the right amount of this and mix up just the proper amount of that for the proper amount of strategically balanced amount of time and ingredients…. we who are not you… and who have penises and not vaginas….. we know that no matter WHAT you do out there in that confusion and bedlam and in that concocted birthplace-of-horrors you’re “creating” that even a ravenous jackal wouldn’t eat…. no matter what you do out there in that nightmare of relentless incompetence that you call YOUR KITCHEN…we know you’re TRYING.
We know preparing good food for us is important to you! Why do you think we insist that you bring us beer with our meals? Because that first 12 ounce chugalug is gonna make that swill concoction of dog anuses and puke-scented fecal-splash that you blundered-into-existence out of innocent helpless ingredients, that beer will make that heap of still-writhing eel-ass taste a lot less specific and a lot more incoherent when we are done swallowing that first can of Coors.
Down goes the beer….. in goes the Dunwich Horror you call dinner….. and out comes the praise: “Mighty good, babe! First rate chow!!” You fed yer man a meal…he loved it……out come the nips. Down go the drawers, on go the kneepads…..life is good. Until the next time. Fortunately, that beer larder is always stocked. And for a reason! Because we love you!
Now, godarnit!…get back out there you little cutie, light that stove and do your thing! We’re hungry!!
