CYRIL HUZE LAUNCHES A BLOG–In addition to designing parts, bikes, traveling the country to show them, I have decided to offer the custom motorcycles community a place where I can share with you thoughts, news, all other things related to our passion. One of the earliest promises about the internet was that it would put some of the power of the media back in the hands of regular people. Traditional websites are not the answer. My website only displays my work on bikes and parts.
I needed a Weblog or Blog: an online place allowing publication on a whim, when the mood strikes, when the influential people talk, when a new part is released, etc. A place permanently updated by me and by you through comments. Hence, the Cyril Huze Blog: one of the first places to look for reactions to the happenings of the day in our industry and in all areas of interest. I encourage my industry to leak corporate tidbits and you to react with both passion & reason.
Please, visit my Blog at http://www.cyrilhuzeblog.com.

ACCURATE ENGINEERING BUILDS WORLDS FASTEST PANHEAD–September, 2006—Accurate Engineering’s Outlaw 120? made history during the Bonneville Salt Flats 2006 International Motorcycle Speed Trials. The “Salt Shaker,” powered by Accurate’s 120 cubic inch Panhead motor, was 5-Ball Racing’s entry on the flats. Keith “Bandit” Ball ached to get back to Bonneville since his involvement in the Easyriders streamliner record run in 1990 and created 5-Ball Racing to taste the salt again. He assembled a winning team including veteran rider, Valerie Thompson, who piloted the “Salt Shaker” (a John Reed designed Custom Chrome Sport Bike chassis with Accurate’s snarling engine) built by Bandit in the Bikernet Headquarters. The “Outlaw 120? blasted the motorcycle across the flats and into the record books,” said Berry.
At 141.465mph, the Salt Shaker now holds the Land Speed Record in it’s classification (pushrod: fuel) and is the World’s Fastest Panhead. “But’s that’s not all. We want to build a 200 mph Panhead, and we’re building the bike now,” said Bandit. “No time to lose.”
Accurate Engineering is now offering Everyone our

VANCIL SETS ET RECORD BUT TURNER TAKES THE NITRO TOP FUEL WIN IN ROCKINGHAM–ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (Oct. 16, 2006) – Jay Turner is making a run for the Screamin’ Eagle AHDRA Nitro Top Fuel Championship and Sunday just helped his cause. Turner took the trophy and valuable championship points, closing the gap between him and the only man who has more points than him so far this season – first place rider Mike Romine.
Turner rode his Mancuso Harley-Davidson to his third victory in four final rounds this season with a 6.323-second pass at 221.05. He beat Drums Brancaccio and the Team Latus Motors Harley-Davidson team with a 6.439 pass at 215.48. With just one race left, Turner and Vancil will have to battle it out at the season finale.
Doug Vancil just missed being in the final round for the fourth time this season. But he did set the national ET record in the semifinals. He rode his Vance & Hines Motorsports Harley-Davidson to a 6.236 pass at 218.62. In was all in vain, as Vancil lost the round on a holeshot to Turner. Vancil’s .235 reaction time on the starting line cost him a trip the finals, losing to Turner’s 6.310 at 217.35 with a .101 reaction.
Vancil did earn the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel nitro class with a 6.240 pass. Turner was fifth with a 6.447 while Bracaccio was sixth with a 6.490.
Michael Ray swept the Destroyer category this weekend, earning the No. 1 qualifying position and the victory. Ray earned his second Destroyer win of the season by beating Doug Horne in the final with a 9.139 pass at 137.92, topping Horne’s 9.210 at 141.42.
Ray earned the top qualifier spot in the Destroyer category using a 9.085 pass. Horne was sixth with a 9.217.
Derek Christensen became the ninth different winner of the season in the SEP category. He earned his first victory of the season by beating Joey Talbott with an 11.467 run, topping Talbott’s 11.455. Eleanor Walker was the No. 1 qualifier in the category with an 11.505 pass while Christensen (11.513) was third and Talbott (11.558) was 10th.
Shane Pendergrast took the win in the ET category for the first time this season, taking out Bill Rowe Jr. in the final. Pendergrast rode his Harley-Davidson to the victory with an 11.333 pass. Rowe fouled at the starting line.
The season finale of the Screamin’ Eagle championship season will be held in Las Vegas at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The JIMS Las Vegas Nationals will take place Nov. 11-12. This will also be the site of the Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts Las Vegas High Stakes Shootout, Nov. 10-11. The Shootout is open to professional and novice riders with current AHDRA memberships and Harley-Davidson motorcycles that meet AHDRA technical and safety standards. The winner will grab a $12,000 purse while the runner-up will take home $3,000.

DRAG SPECIALTIES/METZELER TIRES ALERT– Mr. Johnson and motorcycle were towed to our facility at the end of August 2006. His front tire started wobbling while on the highway from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. He waited by the roadside for the tow truck. The return trip took several hours. He purchased a set of tires, including labor, $384.00 and waited while tires were installed.
There was 50% or more tire tread remaining. There was no sign of cupping, cracking or dry rot.
Per “your” warranty agreement, as a Metzeler dealer (though we did not sell the tire to customer) we are responsible to honor the Metzeler Tyre warranty. We believe Mr. Johnson deserves credit for his tire. We contacted DRAG and Metzeler. Both companies are aware of this request.
Problem: It will cost me $60 just to send the defective tire from Las Vegas to Wisconsin so they can “eyeball it” to determine the tire’s value (with no promise of repayment of our cost)
Why must I incur the liability for this, with an undetermined outcome? How can we adjust, change, amend your/our warranty policy?
Our shop is founded on principles of good service delivered in a timely and honest fashion. This includes honoring the customer’s right to a timely and honest warranty policy procedure. (It is now October…)
Please advise how we can maintain a rational policy that will enhance the products we market and sell.

RIDING THE DAYTONA LOOP–Locals and veterans of past Biketoberfests know the annual event draws throngs of riders and revelers to Main Street, Beach Street and the area of U.S. 1 from Tomoka Estates to Destination Daytona. Heavy traffic and long delays should be expected in those areas, as well as along Ridgewood Avenue in South Daytona and Port Orange from the Sunshine Mall to The Last Resort, and State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach near Pub 44.
Even as mechanical cranes replace the winged species along the skyline, much of this area remains NatureWorld. The roads that cut through and along the woods, river and ocean in Volusia and Flagler counties provide some of the most scenic and diverse views in Florida — picture-postcard backdrops for motorcyclists with some Biktoberfest time on their hands.
So get your motors running and head out on the highway. And if you’re looking for adventure this week, we’re offering this first in a series of five rides.

JAZ FROM R-MAX USA TRANSMISSIONS TALKS STURGIS TRENDS– Every year Sturgis is more and less than it was the year before. In 2006 it was no exception, there was more to do, more vendors, more security and more custom motorcycles. There was less nudity, less motorcycle sales and it felt like less bikers.
That’s not to say that Sturgis wasn’t packed, it was. I didn’t see anything revolutionary on the motorcycle scene. Manufacturers are improving their products in an evolutionary fashion.
The trend that I see on the motorcycle side is that custom bike builders are continuing to reduce the cost of their products. We are seeing companies pushing to deliver custom motorcycles for under $30,000 dollars. In addition to this price plateau, enthusiasts are looking for innovation and individualization. It seems that consumers are no longer satisfied with a motorcycle that cannot be modified before purchase. Buyers are specifying design, paint and performance before taking delivery of their motorcycle instead of after the sale.
Sturgis is transitioning from a buying show to a browsing show. In years past individuals would make a purchase and then ship it back home. Now, enthusiasts more often than not will browse for a part and then when they return home conduct additional research and buy it online.
The day when a biker saved up all his money for the trip out to the badlands to make a major two-wheel purchase may have become a thing of the past.
This year R-Max USA by Roadmax did not have a booth. We spent our time going to our clients and making new connections. Almost every manufacturer reported lower than average sales. It seemed that the crowd came a little earlier than last year and then left earlier too.
All in all, the 2006 edition of Sturgis was a hit. Hope to see you all next year.
Keep the rubber side down,

Nevadans for Responsible Law Enforcement turned in 74,740 valid signatures on petitions to change the state’s marijuana laws, Deputy Secretary of State Susan Bilyeu said. The organization, an offshoot of the Washington, D.C.-based Marijuana Policy Project, needed at least 61,336 valid signatures to place the question on the Nov. 5 general election ballot. The proposal to allow adults to possess as much as three ounces of marijuana without police interference needs approval in the November election and again in 2004 to become part of the Nevada Constitution. “The success of our petition provides solid evidence that most Nevadans think it is a waste of their tax dollars to arrest people with small amounts of marijuana,” said Billy Rogers, a spokesman for Nevadans for Responsible Law Enforcement. “Nevadans support this initiative because it allows law enforcement the resources to track down terrorists, murderers, rapists and other violent criminals.”FBI records show the number of people arrested on marijuana charges nationally reached nearly 750,000 in 2000, up from fewer than 300,000 in 1991. Until last year, Nevada had the strictest marijuana law in the nation. People possessing any amount of marijuana could be charged with a felony, although most received lesser charges in exchange for attending drug treatment programs. Possession of one ounce or less of marijuana in Nevada is now a misdemeanor, punishable by a $600 fine. –from Rogue BIKERNET WEEKLY PHOTO ART EXHIBIT–Ride hard and look for me this weekend at Ironhorse, in Daytona Beach. –Whiplash Biker Photog PRO SCHWARZENEGGER RIDE–Come join Californians for Schwarzenegger October 21st to supportOperation Homefront. All bikers are welcome! — www.californiaharleydavidson.com AVON TYRES BIKERNET QUESTION OF THE WEEK–How do you tell when to replace your tires? –Thin Line Jr. There is a wear bar on all tires. To find the wear bar look on the sidewall of the tire. You will see TWI (tread wear indicator) in several spots around the sidewall. Follow those across the tread surface and in the groove you will see a raised bar. This is the wear bar. When the rest of the tire is even wear bar this indicates you are at your minimum legal tread limit of 2/32nd or 1 mm and it’s time to replace your tire. The other method is to use a tread depth gauge and stick it in the center groove and find out how deep the groove is. You must have at least 2/32nd. And if you don’t have a groovy tread depth gauge you can always use a penny and put it in the center groove. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head you need to replace your tire. Note: some manufacturers use a symbol in place of TWI similar to the Avon Venom tire with its snake head logo on the sidewall. Sukoshi Fahey (Ms.)

NEW JERSEY MOTORCYCLISTS UNITE–Enough is Enough. Senator Frank Lautenberg has Got To Go! Ever since I can remember he has tried to pass bills that would withhold Federal Highway Funds from states that did not pass Mandatory Laws. No matter how you feel about wearing helmets personally you should at least respect that adults should be allowed to make their own decisions about what is safe for them and what is not.
The fact that states other than New Jersey have decided to repeal or amend legislation pertaining to Mandatory Laws is none of his business. It is obvious that the citizens and legislators of those states have decided what they feel is in the best interest of its citizens.
Other legislators have for years defeated his attempts and yet he continues to try and sneak in a bill in every chance he gets.
VOTERS IN NEW JERSEY PLEASE GO TO THE POLLS ON NOVEMBER 7th and VOTE HIM OUT OF OFFICE.
Please also ask your friends and neighbors Not To Vote for Him! I for one would greatly appreciate it

SPEAKING OF H-D, UNION WORKERS VOTE DOWN THE HARLEY PROPOSAL–POSTED: 8:42 pm CDT October 16, 2006MILWAUKEE — Union workers rejected a proposed compromise Monday morning that would have meant more jobs at Milwaukee-area plants.
Now, Harley-Davidson threatens to move the work out of state. The company’s plan for production expansion would go to build more engines and transmissions for larger Harleys. The point is to attract more riders, but union workers said the company’s plan to get it done would only ostracize its employees.
Mary Ann Brylow has worked for Harley-Davidson for 17 years. Now, she feels like she’s been hit with an ultimatum.”I don’t like a gun to my head. I don’t like threats. And that’s what they do. ‘You do this or we’re going to do that.’ That’s just not right in my book,” Brylow said.Brylow and an overwhelming majority of her union co-workers voted down a proposed wage and benefit concession.
Under the plan, the company would expand production at its Pilgrim Road and Capitol Drive plants if workers agreed to pay a portion of their insurance costs and a wage cut for new hires.Union president Jim Wheiland said the wage cut proposal, plus the company’s recent glowing earnings report were the deal-breakers.
“I believe the earnings report was like $312 million net for the quarter with a projected billion dollar profit by the end of the year, so I think that had a lot to do with it,” Wheiland said.
Harley-Davidson officials said, “We’re disappointed with the vote, but we need to address capacity, cost, and flexibility in tandem,” and said they essentially have no choice but to “… move forward with plans to build an additional U.S. manufacturing and assembly plant outside of Wisconsin.”
Some union workers told 12 News their fear of possibly losing work lost out to their pride.Brylow for one is prepared for whatever’s necessary.”Then move it out of state. That’s how I feel. I’ll find another job. I’m an intelligent person. I’m not afraid of them,” Brylow said.
Harley-Davidson officials said the wage and benefit compromises they put on the table are comparable to what they could get at a unionized plant in some other part of the country.
They have not said where they will build the new plant.A statement released Monday said the company will be working with union representatives to find the best location possible.

RESEARCH REPORT FROM BIKERNET ANIMAL CLINIC–A man absolutely hated his wife’s cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park.
As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway.
The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home.
Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!
He kept taking the cat further and further and the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.
Hours later the man calls home to his wife: “Jen, is the cat there?”
“Yes,” the wife answers, “why do you ask?”
Frustrated, the man answered, “Put that son of a ***** on the phone, I’m lost! and need directions!”

BIKER BEAUTIES SECOND ISSUE SOON TO BE PRINTED–The second issue of Biker Beauties Magazine will be delivered from the printers on Wednesday October 25. Copies will start showing up in store locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia the weekend of the 28th. Mail order subscriptions will be mailed as soon as the magazines arrive here.
The new issue has several new beauties appearing for the first time in a magazine.
Nina graces the cover this month along side a Detroit Bros. Motorcycle. The 10 page Outlanders layout was shot in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia this month during their Biker Renaissance Party featuring the Detroit Bros. and Livia Crisan’s Bikini Dream Team.
Stephanie and Allie are college students from West Virginia. Both girls can be seen in the 10-page Savage Cycles Pictorial. Stephanie will be in the Savage Cycles booth at the Chantilly Motorcycle Show held by CycleProUSA.com on Dec. 30-31 at the Dulles Expo Center. Her GOB feature coming Oct. 31 will leave you weak in the knees.
Gangster Choppers has an 8-page layout that includes John Dodson’s latest creation…. “Cocky”. Biker Beauties is the first to publish this motorcycle. We had to find a cute blonde to shoot with the bike since our first issue was lacking the fair share of blondes. April is a local model from the Richmond area who didn’t seem to mind being in the middle of downtown Richmond in a bikini with close to 100 people watching the shoot.
One of my favorite shoots was the 10-page Girls of Wytheville Harley-Davidson shoot where I met Allison. She works at the dealership and modeled on several 2007 models in Harley Davidson apparel along with several other girls from the dealership. I hope that she will be doing a future feature and cover in the new year.
Bikini Dream Team Member and Girl of Bikernet Model Beki visited the Renegade Classics store of Baltimore and caused quite a commotion as she modeled several fashions from the store in our 2 page Renegade Classics article.
Several more articles are in this month’s issue along with over 12 new advertisers….. You’ll have to get the issue though to see the Flying Pig Eyewear ad….. it’s so hot Bandit wouldn’t post it outside the Cantina. But we’ll say the photo has sunglasses, a naked model and nothing else.
Remember the Bikernet ad that was banned from the Kids and Chrome Magazine at Sturgis?? Just wait til you see the new 1/2 page vertical ad Bikernet has this month…… and we’ve got the balls to print it! Most of our ads are just as fun to look at as the articles.
Subscriptions are available at http://bikerbeauties.com/free and Autographed Bikini Dream Team Motorcycle posters can be purchased on the Biker Beauties website as well.
You’re copy will be in the mail soon Bandit… just make sure you send the girls in the office out for margaritas when it arrives so you have some quiet time with the beauties.

BIKERNET NEWS FROM THE A TINY ISLAND IN THE CARIBBEAN–Well, here we go again, who knows.. I might get the hang of it again….We are working on our event here in Puerto Rico, in the western town of Rincon, Surfing capital of the Atlantic.I guess if that was the only thing I did, it would be a piece of cake, but it’s not the only thing I do. I am not bitching about it, this is the yearly chance to enjoy a ride with friends, spend the weekend, surf, hang out and listen to good music (speaking of music, shameless plug for my girlfriends bands new website http://www.laguerrillapr.com It’s in Spanish, but music is universal and photos too.)
So we put Puerto Rico and Rincon on the map, cool, there’s still time to join us the first week end in December, it’s not a normal bike event, it’s just a good, relaxing time.
Speaking of islands, I want to talk about Hawaii and the recent earthquake, As you all know we have many friends there, as soon as I found out I tried to call but cell phones were not working, seeing the over eager news channel I expected the worst…
Well… you know news, right…
Everyone is fine, heard the cows got a good shake on the Big island, other than that and having no power for a day, the rest seems fine, sure there’s some structural damage here and there.. but no, it’s not like an atomic bomb hit the islands…
That’s why I don’t watch news…. They SUCk !
Speaking of screwed up things, our very inept politicians want to amend the motorcycle laws, they say that the increment in fatalities is due to (and can be fixed by) many factors (too many to write up here) and guess what, they all happen to be wrong. Puerto Rico has doubled the amount of bikes since 2003, now I believe the figure is around 140,000, the grand majority being scooters, driven by kids…. Anyway, they are very alarmed of our fatalities number (89) So they came up with this bright solution.
1) All riders must wear ankle covering footwear
2) all riders must wear a reflective vest from 6pm to 6 am
3) all riders must wear long pants
4) all riders must wear a ASA approved and DOT approved helmet (ASA became ANSI a long time ago) and they have to provide the famous approved helmet list
5) all riders must take a course and new licensing
6) all riders must wear palm protecting gloves
7) no riders under 18 years old
8) no riders under 10 and 12 years old (figure that one out)
9) no nitrogen on the bikes (figure that one, I guess they meant Nitrous Oxide, but fuck ’em)
10) maximum of 2 white lights up front (you have spot lights your screwed)
11) Two brakes per bike (you have dual calipers up front, you suck)
There’s more moronic items, but to make it short….So of course we are trying to fight this… I do have the complete law proposal and I use it when I need a good laugh…. Too bad it’s in Spanish, or I would copy it here so you guys could laugh too.
There’s been 130 pedestrians killed; I guess they should start wearing shit to look like a traffic cone as well.
Anyway guys… see you later.. got a book to write, bikes to build, and event to figure out and I see some waves out the window….
Maybe next week…. maybe not.

HOT BIKE/BIKE WORKS MAGAZINE SHAKE-UP– That company is constantly on the move. Rumor has it Bike Works is being shut down and the editor, Frank Kaisler, was asked to leave. Steve Bohn the Editor of HOT BIKE was also replaced by the Senior Editor, Eric Ellis. Eric was the man I recommended when I left HOT BIKE. Hey,
Hang on for this one. The news is more intense each week. Our next Bonneville effort is already coming together. Over the next few weeks I’ll bring you new techs on the new level of Fuel Injection technology from Mil Blair and Pegasus with the BDL crew. These puppies are incredible.
Let’s jump right into the news, before I’m scrambled. I’ll sort out life before the end, I hope:
MIXED SIGNALS COMING OUT OF DAYTONA BEACH– Combine the binge drinking, buxom beer maids, and bands that have made history as being the elements of the popular German Oktoberfest celebrations with the modern day motorcycle phenomenon and you get Daytona Beach’s Biketoberfest.
If you’re close enough to take a road trip over this weekend, the festivities begin Thursday, October 19th and continue through the weekend until Sunday, October 22nd. Staying with the proven formula that had made Bike Week so popular over the years, the 14th annual event will include races, festivals, celebrity visits, contests, poker runs, scenic rides and more! Join all the hard core party-goers on Main St. and Beach St. downtown Daytona or head out to Destination Daytona’s bash.
There are bars and businesses all over the city and surrounding areas that are having their own mix of skin baring contests, live bands, food and drink specials. It is sure to be a pleasing attack on your senses from the roar of the many-make cycles, the eye-popping peeks at scantily-clad, leather loaded ladies (and gents), the intoxicating concoction of exhaust and salt air, and the taste of ice coldbeer. Chug-a-lug!
While Law Enforcement is saying they are enforcing all the laws including loud exhaust, wheelies, reckless driving and of course DUI. You can have a lot of fun just not to much. Enjoy your self BUT do not get stupid!
If you are looking for skin barring and a little more lax attitude look for places in the surrounding area outside of Daytona Beach.

SETH DOULTON WORKS TO HELP JOHNNY CHOP’S FAMILY AND KEEP HIS NAME ALIVE–In 2005 Mitch Bergeron and Johnny Chop assembled the All American Motorcycle Madness Dream Bike in Santa Maria, California. This bike was built by them over the weekend of the show and was given away to one lucky event participant. Mitch and Johnny did a great job building the bike, and American Thunder TV got some good shots when covering the build on their show. We were all scheduled to do the same this year.
With the untimely passing of Johnny we were in contact with his family. We first met Johnny’s mom and dad at the 2005 Santa Maria show which also was the first show they went to where Johnny was a featured builder. What we decided to do was to build a tribute bike to Johnny Chop. With the help of Johnny’s friends like Mitch Bergeron, Kirk Taylor, Tom Foster, The Count and Shannon from Counts Kustoms just to name a few. These builders called on their friends at S&S for the motor, Jims for the Transmission and Sharp Eye for the kicker.
RS Performance Coatings worked their magic and Performance Machine kicked down the controls and rear brake. Custom Chrome and Drag Specialties were both down for dozens of parts that made the bike complete including the belt drive, rear fender and brake lines. Darin with Bung King.com and Gard with LA County Chop Rods donated some fine details to really set the bike off.
The bike was started at the Santa Maria All American Motorcycle Madness show May 19th – 21st and instead of just giving the bike away to someone at the show we sold tickets to win the bike there as well as Long Beach and Las Vegas Bikefest. The last place to purchase a ticket was at Grand National Bike Show San Francisco October 14th and 15th. 100% of the proceeds are going to his family to fund the charities and special interests that helped Johnny through the years.
After 6 months of selling tickets which included a free Johnny Chop tribute t-shirt the winner was picked out of the hopper by Susan, Johnny’s sister. Then Barbara Johnny’s mother called the lucky new owner Vince Defalco was ecstatic. When asked what he planed to do with the bike he replied in true Chop fashion and said ride it hard.
I’m sure we will be seeing a lot of this bike. The family thanks all of you that participated in the build and bought tickets. STAY GOLD
COOLBETH EARNS AMA CHAMPIONSHIPFirst Screamin’ Eagle Championship in Nine Years– COLUMBUS, Ohio (Oct. 14, 2006) – It was a banner day for the Screamin’ Eagle AMA Flat Track program Saturday. Not only did factory rider Kenny Coolbeth earn his first series championship, but the Screamin’ Eagle Wrecking Crew swept the podium for the third consecutive race.
“The entire team worked their butts off,” Coolbeth said. “This is a dream come true because I’ve always wanted to be a factory rider for Harley-Davidson and I’ve always wanted to win a championship. They have the knowledge and the people to make a championship happen. That showed this season.”
It was Coolbeth’s third victory of the season and second career win at the Scioto Downs race track in Columbus. He earned his first career victory here in 2002. He was in good company at the finish line this time.
Wrecking Crew teammate Jared Mees and the Texter Harley-Davidson team finished second while veteran Screamin’ Eagle factory rider Rich King was third. The fourth member of the Wrecking Crew, Bryan Smith, suffered mechanical problems in the last lap and finished 11th on his Pat Moroney’s Harley-Davidson.
“We are ecstatic,” Harley-Davidson Racing Manager Anne Paluso said. “It’s been nine years since the Harley-Davidson factory team carried the No. 1 plate. We put the right team together to make it happen with two great factory riders in Kenny and Rich and two great Wrecking Crew riders in Bryan and Jared.”
If that wasn’t enough, the four riders finished in the top four of the point standings too. Coolbeth finished the final point standings with 158 points while Mees was second (145), Smith was third (127) and King was tied for fourth (126 with Chris Carr and the Ford Quality Checked Ford Harley-Davidson team).
Mees and Smith each won their heat races while Kenny finished second in his heat event. Smith started the event in the No. 1 qualifying position while Mees was third, Coolbeth was fifth and King was 14th.
With the third place finish, King moved up from fifth to fourth in the standings. It was his fourth podium finish of the season.
“I had some trouble shifting the bike but it was running fast all day,” King said. “I started on the third row but I just worked my way up and passed everyone except two, as it turns out. We raced well and it’s good to end the season on a high note.
“I didn’t win the championship, but it went to a very well-deserving guy. We stumbled at a couple of races and that put us behind. We had a great night tonight. The entire Wrecking Crew team did. That turned out to be a great concept and it’s just another way for Harley-Davidson to give back to the sport of flat track racing. My hat is off to them for what they have done this year. The Wrecking Crew was a great deal.”
Coolbeth said he knew he wasn’t going to give up the lead once he moved to the front of the pack.
“I got a good start. I think I was second off the line,” Coolbeth said. “It took me about five laps to get around everyone and take the lead and that’s when I checked out. I never gave up the lead. It was an awesome race.
“Our entire team had a good race but Rich just worked his butt off to move up to the front. I’m just so happy that we all did so well. I feel like I’m on cloud nine.”
Coolbeth has steadily worked his way up to the No. 1 position over the past few years. He finished third in the final standings in 2004 and second in 2005. Earning the title and the race win on the same day is exactly what he had in mind.
“I don’t think this has completely sunk in but it’s amazing,” Coolbeth said. “I’ve been climbing that ladder to get here and I just can’t believe it. Part of me is already thinking about how I am going to be riding with that big bull’s-eye on my back next year, but most of me still can’t believe we won the championship.
“This feels good. This is the way I wanted it to happen. I wanted to win the race and championship together. This is the best way to end the season.”

LOUD PIPES SAVES LIVES AND BIKERNET CONTENTION MAY BE CONFIRMED AGAIN–This article was triggered by Jeffry L’H. Tank’s article “Loud Pipes Save Lives” or The Madness Behind The MYTH (“Virginia Wind Newsletter” 09/2003), and also by a recent interchange of comments on the same topic in the Dr. Gridlock column in the “Washington Post”.
Jeffry and the Dr. Gridlock commenters have adopted what has become a prevalent attitude in many, if not most, discourses in present society: State a position as an absolute, based on one or a few cases and then defend it to the death, or attempt to refute it by finding one or more cases which seem to say nay and treat that as an absolute refutation. This is almost always accompanied by an argument that lack of proof means automatic refutation, or lack of negative proof means automatic acceptance.
I would like to look at this “Loud Pipes Save Lives” topic in a slightly different, and perhaps more rational or accommodating fashion – accommodating to all of the arguers on both sides. Let’s change the postulation or point of discussion to be “Loud Pipes MAY Save Lives”, adopting a “softer” approach, and see where that may take us.
Jeffrey says he “could not find a single “fact” that supports the idea that loud pipes save lives. A policeman’s widow says her motorcycle cop husband talked about how the use of lights and sirens did not stop people from “missing” him. How would he know if the sirens worked – what did he see (or not see)? Many riders with loud pipes can recall instances where drivers made “near misses”. But all this does not refute the idea that loud pipes may have averted accidents. What do you measure or see when a driver does NOT make a lane change, or NOT pull out from a driveway in traffic, or NOT open a door into a rider and his ride — because he/she heard loud pipes? We cannot measure in these cases what does NOT happen – but this does not change the reality that it did NOT happen.
I have touched on 3 cases where I think it is logically supportable that time and distance do NOT render loud pipes ineffective, and therefore that loud pipes may (I want to say DO) save lives, if you will grant me that a “fender-bender” between two vehicles often becomes a “life-ender” if one of them is a bike. All three cases (lane changes in traffic, driveway pullout into traffic, and opening a car door in traffic) fall into a category where there is close proximity of vehicles and where there is a reduced ability of the rider to react and protect him/her-self. I postulate that loud pipes, close distances, and traffic combine to create a situation where those loud pipes will be loud enough to penetrate to the drivers of “cages”, and allow the rider to be noticed and the “threatening” behavior to be averted.
We cannot measure what does NOT happen – but this does not change the reality that it did not happen. So, Loud Pipes MAY Save Lives.
Most attempted refutations of the postulation that “Loud Pipes Save Lives” seem to rest on matters of direction of “attack” by cages, direction of pipe outlets, and such. And, as you might expect, I have some thoughts in that area also.
In cases of greater distance and speed, and in the absence of studies or proof either yea or nay on the impact of loud pipes in the matter of saving riders’ lives, let us apply some logic or postulate what might be “reality”.
Some “givens” to be used in this argument:a vehicle, in this case a bike, traveling 60 mph covers 88 feet / secondthe speed of sound is 750 mph or 1100 feet / secondthere is some attenuation / dampening of sound of pipes due to:the forward speed of the bike andthe rearward or sideward (turnout) outlet of exhaust sounda car / cage is about 18 feet long
If you do the math and allow for the travel of the sound to be 75% LESS than optimum (a rather large attenuation, I think!), then a driver might hear that 60 mph loud bike 15+ car lengths before it arrives and might have more than enough time to NOT pull out or NOT turn left in front of the rider or NOT do other threatening things. And, given the constancy of the speed of sound, this “loud pipe edge” to the rider gets greater as his speed is lower.
And this might be / is happening. As I said above – we cannot measure the accident that does NOT happen – but this does not change the reality that it did not happen. So, Loud Pipes MAY Save Lives.
I agree with Jeffry 100% when he says to motorcycle riders: “its up to you and you alone to ensure your safety”, and I, for one, will use my loud pipes as a means of perhaps saving my life.
I want to give myself every edge, and the possibility that my loud pipes might make me more noticed and avert an accident, and in the absence of proof or compelling logic to the contrary, I believe that “Loud Pipes MAY Save Lives”. And the life saved might be mine!
I have convinced myself! And perhaps you, also???

CROCKER MOTORCYCLE COMPANY TEAMS WITH ACCURATE ENGINEERING TO PRODUCE ENGINES FOR THE ALL NEW CROCKER MOTORCYCLE–Toronto, ON September 11, 2006- Crocker Motorcycle Company Inc. has signed a contract with top engine builder Berry Wardlaw of Accurate Engineering from Dothan Alabama to produce the “Original” Crocker Motorcycle engine for the continued production of the coveted classic “Big and Small Tank” Crocker Motorcycle, which was first produced in 1936.
The 1936 Crocker enjoyed the distinction of being the first production motorcycle in the US to use an “over head valve” engine, beating Harley-Davidson to the punch by 4 to 6 months before their launch of the 1936 “Knucklehead.” From its first appearance on the road in Los Angeles and for many years to come, the Crocker was the fastest production bike in the world.
Crocker Motorcycle Company first plans to produce 100 “Original” type Big and Small Tank Crocker motorcycles as a signature series to commemorate the approximate 100 bikes originally produced in Al Crocker’s factory at 1346 Venice Blvd in downtown Los Angeles. The new Crocker Big and Small Tank models will be visually identical to the original but will be updated internally.
Over the last several years Crocker Motorcycle Company Inc. has created a name for itself in the antique motorcycle world by producing quality components for this highly prized American classic. No other make has stirred the lust for two wheels since Al Crocker first created this Hemi-Head Hot Rod in 1936.
Parts production re-started in 1997 and in 2002 the commitment to produce complete Crocker’s came to life.By reverse engineering both the Big and Small Tank models, Crocker has created more than 1300 Cad-Cam drawings and almost 100 precision castings for their new “Vintage” motorcycle. Even the original foundry markings can be found on these newly produced parts.Although the Crocker will be sold in kit form at this time, each engine will come completed and bench tested by Accurate Engineering.
Crocker Motorcycle is now taking orders on their first production series and expects to begin delivery in Spring 2007.For more information contact Michael Schacht at 416 650.0100.www.CrockerMotorcycleCo.com

OTIS CHANDLER COLLECTION AUCTION THIS SATURDAY IN OXNARD, CALIFORNIA–Otis Chandler, the Los Angeles Times magnet, died some months ago and the family, in true rich-guy fashion, couldn’t come to any agreement on splitting the assets. Courts forced a public auction of the vast Otis car and bike museum collection.
This auction is boiling over with over 1000 bidders signed up. Each bidder must have a 1-million dollar credit line to get into the building. Let’s see what happens.

READERS SHOWCASE ON BIKERNET–Bandit, I know you get a lot of emails so I’ll make this short. About my bike?.It’s a Softail aftermarket frame with a 180 front tire and a 200 rear. It took 4 years to build using parts from Exile Cycles and an 100 plus horsepower Evo engine. I did it all myself the paint, and fabrication of the fenders and Cat Eye dash board that houses an Autometer Monster Tach instead of the speedometer. I used a “49” Chevy truck tail light for rear lighting. That’s about it for the real one.
The 1/18th scale model was built starting with a 1/18th scale Miasto Fat Boy. I stripped it and bought the aluminum oil bag and made the exhaust pipes from aluminum tubing made the rear fender from the front fender of an Electraglide and widened it 4 scale inches. I modified wheels from a sport bike model using the spoke centers from another Harley model. I have about 100 hours in the model. I guess that’s about 4 years scaled down to 1/18th.

David’s bike will be featured in our Readers Showcase area. You can feature your own bike there and Crazyhorse will work with you to make it happen. If you would like me to consider your bike for a full Bikernet Feature, don’t hesitate to drop me an image. –Bandit

BIKETOBERFEST 2006– It looks like the trend of people staying and visiting other places while in Daytona Beach for Biketoberfest is continuing. Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona is expected to be a hot spot again this year as the events there continue to grow.
That also means that the bars like Broken Spoke, Iron Horse Saloon, Boot Hill Saloon and the other business on US 1 in Ormond Beach will be doing a lot of business.
Please remember that law enforcement is very heavy in this area and in past years have been known to give out a lot of tickets.
You can expect loud exhaust citations in many areas and the local visitor’s bureau is letting people know that.
Big happenings at the Daytona International Speedway with Kickstand City and Daytona Market Place. Entertainment, manufacturer demo rides, aftermarket parts and accessories and motorcycle displays.
Swap Meet action will be at Daytona Flea and Farmers Market. They will also have daily bike shows with different classes on each day.
Go South for some Fun at the Last Resort 5812 Ridgewood Ave, (US1) Port Orange. “Ol Skool” Chopper Show. This is one of the places I go.
While you are down that way the No Name Saloon always has a lot going on as does Gilly’s Pub 44. As you go to the smaller towns around the Daytona Beach area you will find numerous fun places like Softails Tavern in Crystal River, Trader Jack’s in Deland, Bikes, Blues and BBQ at the American Legion in Titusville. Also check out some of the other Legion Posts for events. Cocco Beach always has a lot going on and is a nice ride.
Orlando- big city fun, the Harley shop and biker bars have plenty to entertain you. The Warlocks MC are holding a Open House Party at 5608 4th Street in Lockhart. I have always had a good time at one of their events.
Main Street in Daytona Beach will still be Main Street but probably less crowded than in past years. There are plenty of bars like Dirty Harry’s, Bank and Blues Club, Full Moon Saloon Boot Hill and Wise Guys Watering Hole. All have entertainment and various other promotions.
This year East Side Custom Choppers will also be putting on a Bike Show in the lot next to Wise Guys. I will be starting my weekend off at the Bikers For First Amendments Rights Bar at 144 Ridgewood Ave. (US 1) in Holly Hill at 3:00 on Friday afternoon.
I will be looking to meet people and have a good time. I will start photographing there and continue to other yet to be determined places for photos for my articles. Have me take yours! You could end up on Bikernet or in one of the magazines.
What businesses and or events should I attend? Decisions, decisions, Any Suggestions?

CUSTOM CHROME HOSTS FIRST VENDOR COUNCIL SUMMIT–Morgan Hill, CA- Following several business related announcements this summer, Custom Chrome announces its first ever Vendor Council Summit in Morgan Hill, CA.
Holger Mohr, President, Custom Chrome clearly states the rationale behind creating the Vendor Council and its objectives. “We understand and embrace the notion that our future growth and continued success is directly linked to our vendors. For this reason, we created the CCI Vendor Council. With the councils’ help and input, Custom Chrome will be the right business partner for v-twin based product manufacturers and dealers. Custom Chrome is asking for their assistance in reaching this goal and the vendors responded with open arms and tons of ideas” explained Mohr.

Participating vendors brought industry issues to light, contributed to product planning for 2007 and broke out into working groups each assigned with topic to discuss and provide solutions to.
“The opening session of the Summit was very informative, we heard from the Global and Custom Chrome executives about their goals and objectives, following that session we were asked to break in to smaller groups. Each group then tackled an issue facing Custom Chrome. The groups then presented back to the overall Vendor Council ideas for positive solutions. It was a great time investment from my perspective” said Vendor Council member Grady Pfeiffer (TP, Primo, Thunderhart, Daytec). “I really feel like I am part of their business now and understand better their plans for growth and continued success. It was great to participate with other vendors too. A terrific learning experience” added Joe Phillipson of Adjure.

PLEA DEAL ENDS FOR HELLS ANGELS IN NEVADA CASE– LAS VEGAS – The federal racketeering trial of 11 Hells Angels motorcycle club members came to a sudden end Wednesday after six defendants accepted plea deals to reduce charges stemming from a deadly casino brawl. The men also entered plea agreements in a parallel state criminal case, sparing them the possibility of life in prison if they had been convicted. Under the deals with federal and state prosecutors, they likely will face no more than 2 1/2 years in prison.
All federal charges were to be dropped against the remaining five federal defendants. The judge said he also would dismiss the federal cases against the 31 other Hells Angles members charged in the brawl.
The collapse of the federal case came after two weeks of trial during which defense lawyers accused government agents and prosecutors of flagrant misconduct and withholding crucial evidence.
U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said he agreed to the plea deals because it involved “the six most active and culpable participants”in the fighting. The Hells Angels members brawled with rival Mongols biker gang members at a 2002 motorcycle rally in Laughlin, a Colorado River resort town some 100 miles south of Las Vegas.
Two Hells Angels and one Mongols member died and at least a dozen people were injured. Videotape images showed the rival motorcycle gang members battling with guns, knives, wrenches and chairs on the casino floor at Harrah’s Laughlin hotel-casino.
Calvin Schaefer, Raymond Foakes, Rodney Cox and James Hannigan pleaded guilty to federal charges of committing a violent crime, battery, in aid of racketeering. Maurice”Pete”Eunice and Dale Leedom pleaded no contest, conceding the government could prove they committed a violent felony.
Troy Regas, 43, a Hells Angels member whose brother, Sohn Regas, will go free, called it “better for six to do a small amount of time than for one guy possibly to face a life sentence.”
Defense lawyers noted the settlement of the federal and state cases would clear the Hells Angels of federal claims that it constitutes a criminal enterprise like the Mafia.”There is no implication whatsoever from this plea that the Hells Angels is a criminal enterprise,” said Schaefer’s lawyer, David Chesnoff.
No Mongols members were charged in the federal case, though six face state charges.

BIKERNET SPONSORSHIP RATES TO GO UP JANUARY 1ST–We’ve held the rates the same since we kicked ’em off 5 years ago when we only had 50,000 unique users coming to Bikernet monthly. We currently have as many as 300,000 unique users visiting Bikernet monthly.
Some mags charge as much as 40 bucks per cpm (cost per thousand) for print advertising. We are currently charging 40 cents per cpm. Other web sites charge between $12 and 25 per cpm, but let’s not go there. We’re not advertising junkies. We don’t have a corporate giant behind us scooping all our profits. We want to do a helluva job for our sponsors and make a living, done deal.
Some 90 percent of our Sponsors have been with us for four or more years. That’s what we like. We’re running this notice to allow good people in our industry to jump on board now, before the rates go up. We’ll hold ’em fast for anyone who jumps on board before the Jan 1 deadline.

HELMET-HOG NO RIDER SHOULD BE WITHOUT ONE–Ride Hard, Ride Free, Carry a Spare Helmet?Helmet-Hogs will be at the Grand National Show in San Francisco at the Cow Palace on Oct 14-15. If you don?t know what a Helmet-Hog is, it?s the best way to carry a spare half dome helmet securely on your bike. If you don?t think you need one, think again. Use it for interstate travel when you can ride in a helmet free state. No helmet to carry? Use it as bungee to strap a jacket, shirt and just about anything else securely to your bike. STEALTH BIKE WORKS WEEKLY REPORT– we are working on our Rigid Evo project. It is coming along very nicely. Around here the bike nights are winding down and the weather has turned somewhat Fall like. That is a good thing in a way, maybe people will stop riding wearing flip flops!
The bike build off this past week was pretty good for a change. Paul Yaffe’s bike was really nice. I like that style of bike. Dave Perweitz’s bike was cool too. Personally, I like that old gangster look on Paul’s bike.
I have been reading the “Bikernet Forum” section a lot the past couple of weeks and it seems the old H-D dealers have been getting ripped pretty good. Oh well, “If the shoe fits, wear it!” It seems they only want you run Dunlop tires because other tires may affect handling or maybe it is because that is what they sell? Not too hard to figure that one out! What happens when you ride a passenger, Does that chage the handling? Get real!
The October Jam Swap Meet and Bike Show is at the Rowan county fairgrounds this weekend. SBW will be there with a booth set up. This is always a good time, just to kick back and enjoy the bikes and the people.
Until next week, RIDE!

BAAS METAL CRAFT SPONSORS BIKERNET BONNEVILLE EFFORT–After seeing the info on Bikernet about sponsorsNeeded, I began to think about what I could do to helpthe team. Being a poor school teacher money donationswould not be in the budget, so I decided to use mycreative side business Baas Metal Craft to cut somekick ass steel shop signs for the team.
You may haveseen the large steel bikernet logo I cut out forbandit for the Bikernet Headquarters main gate a few years ago or someof the Indian Larry tribute signs we did with thestudents in my Chopper Class here in BloomingtonMinnesota. I contacted Bandit and was sent some artwork to get the ball rolling on this project.
Thefirst sign is the 5-Ball racing design. I took theart work, which needs to be sent to me in black andwhite in high resolution and converted it into my CADprogram. After some extensive clean-up work the signwas scaled to the correct size, 3-foot tall and readyto cut. After converting the image to the correct M&Gcode for the CNC machine to cut, I lined up the steeland yelled, “fire in the hole.” The machine is reallyamazing. The speed in which it slices through thesteel and the laser like precision in which it cutsthe designs. After about 15 minutes the sign wasfinished and taken off the table to ready forshipment.
For anyone interested in acustom steel sign or one-off bike part or otherfabrication I can be reached through my websitewww.baasmetalcraft.com.

NEW NAVY SHIP SOON TO BE LAUNCHED–USS New York,With a year to go before it even touches the water, the Navy’samphibious assault ship USS New York has already made history. It wasbuilt with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade CenterUSS New York is about 45 percent complete and should be ready for launchin mid-2007.
Katrina disrupted construction when it pounded the GulfCoast last summer, but the 684-foot vessel escaped serious damage, andworkers were back at the yard near New Orleans two weeks after thestorm.
It is the fifth in a new class of warship – designed for missions thatinclude special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore byhelicopters and assault craft.
“It would be fitting if the first mission this ship would go on is tomake sure that bin Laden is taken out, his terrorist organization istaken out,” said Glenn Clement, a paint foreman. “He came in through theback door and knocked our towers down and (the New York ) is coming rightthrough the front door, and we want them to know that.”
Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite,La., to cast the ship’s bow section. When it was poured into the moldson Sept. 9, 2003, “those big rough steelworkers treated it with totalreverence,” recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. “It was aspiritual moment for everybody there.”
Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when thetrade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and thehair on my neck stood up. “It had a big meaning to it for all of us,”he said. “They knocked us down. They can’t keep us down. We’re going tobe back.”

CARIBBEAN REPORT RETURNS– No I’m not dead, not abducted by aliens, have not closed the doors……Gladly for some and sadly for others we are still around, sure there’s been many changes since the last time I had actual time to write up a Caribbean Report, I know some of you miss it, I do too.
Reality is I needed (and need) to get off this insane hustle and bustle shit that the biz was becoming, the endless trips, the endless hours and everything else, by no way I am being an ingrate, I do enjoy all the trips and the rest, hell.. some of you might not even know what we do or who we are.. So that’s fine with me.
It was really time to calm down, sure I am still working and have a bunch of builds to do, I still have the shop running, but I am taking things a lot easier (sort of) the only major difference is that we have opened an Ebay Store to sell the surplus, takeoff and new parts that we have to compensate for the incredible amount of shops that open and close everyday. I still have more bikes to build that i can humanly do in a year, the surfing season is very near, and the gears for the Rincon event December 1,2 and 3 rd are moving very slowly.
Let’s say I just wanted to jump out of the rat race.. Since only rats compete in that…
Right now whatever little spare time I find goes towards the book, yes, I am writing for Motorbooks International (well so says my contract) for a How to build an inexpensive bike (well sort of the theme in general) I am almost done with the text, still got a few shots to go and to organize the whole thing… Never done a book.. but I can write ’till my fingers bleed…
Tell you the truth, I’ve never had so many things going on while I was trying to lay low.. well, so be it…
About the bikes, well, I am doing what I am preaching, just got two Sportsters done for friends who are in the very low money range, and I mean low, for a custom bike, but still (to me) I think they are cool and the guys will be proud of them. I’m also working on a 79, 84, 51, two more xl’s and a few others, I hope that by Daytona next year i will have a dozen new bikes ready to jump the puddle. No Discovery, no magazines…
Another major change is that I will start writing for The HORSE once more, I have a years worth of bikes and them some, very few events that I attended this year, and whatever else, These I try to squeeze between whatever. Now that the showroom is ” By appointment only”. I’m trying to find that lost time to do something productive (as money productive…) Also waiting on a couple builds from my friends from Texas, and one from Chicago.
I will try not to be such a stranger and let you guys know what is going on….

Hey,
I don’t know how to kick this thing off, and maybe I should shut up and let the news rip. It’s a goddamn beautiful day here in Socal. My Salt Shaker 120-Panhead engine is back in the mail headed my way. There’s Biker action every weekend and I’m staying out of the garage to help the missus finish our kitchen.
Some brothers were hurt last week and one killed in a Helicopter accident. Some report the industry’s down, and I always point out that in 1978, 1,250,000 motorcycles were sold in this country annually. In the ’80s it dipped to 400,000 and now it’s up to a million. We’re just scratchin’ this industry’s surface. We’ve got along ways to go. Let’s hit the news:
TEXAS NATIONAL BIKE SHOW UPDATE– Well it’s me again and we are getting to the home stretch. The show is about three weeks away and we are going to have one helluva time!
This week I am pleased to bring to you one of our feature builders in the Texas National Builder Showdown. This guy not only builds his own bikes but is pretty famous for his painting abilities. “Paint by Pygmy” is well known around Texas , we like to call him “The Best Little Painter in Texas” no small feat for a great big state. His work has been featured in many industry magazines, and what can I say the boy’s got skills. His bike is the “Double Nickel” and if you stop by the Texas National Bike Show on November 3rd and 4th at the Galveston Island Convention Center and you like what you see you can vote for Pygmy or your favorite builder.
Lots of last minute stuff going on. At this time registration for motorcycle shops has ended but display only space is still available and anyone else who would like to participate, vendor space is still available. Since I have done this before I know that my bike show participants will be signing up right until the last minute, there is still time for anyone wanting a chance to win great trophies and other prizes.
We are fortunate we have received lots of great door prizes and also some great stuff for our goodie bags that we will give out to the first 200 people through the door on Friday and Saturday. If your company would like name recognition during the event feel free to send some goodies for giveaways and prizes.
Well gotta run, but look for the next builder Metal Blade Choppers in next Thursday news. And as usual a GREAT BIG THANKS goes out to our favorite sponsor BIKERNET for supporting us in our endeavor to bring you all a great show.
See you at the show,
–Holly

GREAT HAWAIIAN BIKER BUILD-OFF TWO–Following this year’s annual Toys-for-Tots run, which drew over 6,000 motorcyclists in 2005, Hawaiian Chopper Magazine will put on an unforgettable motorcycle event that will become the benchmark for all motorcycle rallies in the islands to follow.
Featuring a biker build-off between celebrated Japanese motorcycle builder Norio Akai of Phoenix Customs in Kyoto, and American motorcycle manufacturer Big Mike of Bend, Oregon’s BMC Choppers.
The festivities begin immediately following the annual “Toys-for-Tots” motorcycle run with thousands of motorcyclists making their way through Waikiki to Honolulu’s Kapiolani Community College (KCC).
Once at the of the KCC, spectators & participants will be treated to a spectacle larger and more awesome than last year’s “Great Hawaiian Biker Build-Off”, or even July’s “Paradise Bikefest”, which drew over 5,000 people.
Along with some of the World’s top motorcycle builders like Chica, Denver’s Choppers Mondo Porras, and a host of other top chopper artisans, and their custom bikes made famous on Discovery Channel’s “Biker Build-off” series. Visitors to this year’s event will be actively engaged in the festivities by voting on the build-off bikes of Big Mike and Norio Akai.
In addition to the bike build-off, a “ride-in” bike show offers local builders, owners, and businesses the opportunity to showcase their bikes, and possibly take home a one of a kind trophy.
Many of Hawaii’s most beautiful women will complete in a bikini model search sponsored by Hawaiian Tropic & Sensually Yours. Competitors will go after $1,000.00 in cash prizes, and the event will be one of the highlights of the day’s events.
And what would a motorcycle rally be without music? Join some of Hawaii’s top musicians for their special blend of rock & roll and contemporary Hawaiian rhythms. December 3rd will be the talk of the town!
Of course, with Christmas just around the bend, a vendor village featuring the products and services of some 40 local and national companies will offer great products for sale. This event will be a great opportunity for people to pick up some cool presents for family and friends.
Did I mention there will be great food & drink specials offered throughout the day’s event??? Great food will be on sale from none other than the Hard Rock Caf?, Taste of New York Deli, and Kahuna Dogs. I get hungry just thinking about it!
Tickets go on sale November 1st, and can be found at retailers such as, PacifiC Rim Cycle, South Seas Harley-Davidson, Cycle City Harley-Davidson, Domenico’s, Grumpy’s Customs, Kustom Fab, Military Ticket outlets, or through Street Bikers United, and by visiting www.honoluluboxoffice.com, or call 550-TIKS (8457).

THE BAKER 6 INTO 4: KICKIN’ IT OL’ SCHOOL–HASLETT, MI – OCTOBER 10, 2006About a few ago we came out with the 6-into-4 for Shovelheads. Sales of these transmissions have been a complete shocker and the message is loud and clear: People love their Shovelheads and they ride the piss out of them.
Our 6-into-4 transmission is a direct replacement for the 1970-E84 4-speed, available with or without the time-honored 1936-84 style kicker. In a 4-speed, 4th gear is 1:1. Our Shovelhead 6-speed overdrive has a 1:1 5th gear and a .86 6th; good for a 500 RPM reduction in cruising RPM on the highway.
DETAILS:
o Feature strong and smooth BAKER Klassic Kicker Gears
o Available in show polished, wrinkle black, or casted finishes
o Kicker includes a polished brass pedal
o Many optional gear ratios available
o Now available with 33 tooth pulley
o 1970 to Early 1984 Applications only
New features include our BAKER Klassic Kicker gear and our N1 shift drum option. The 4140 heat treated steel Klassic Kicker Gears are stronger than what is currently available and provide a smoother, quieter roll with due to a new rounded tooth design. It also has a reinforced stop-peg prevents common breakage and tumbling into the transmission.
This is great for bikes with foot clutches! An N-1 shift pattern, which is a pattern with neutral before 1st gear instead of neutral between 1st and 2nd, eliminates the hope and guessing out of finding neutral before you have to remove your foot off the clutch and step on the ground for balance when stopping. That is, “Neutral is all the way down to get your foot planted on the ground”. This is especially helpful with jockey shift linkage that loses a lot of the “feel” when looking for conventional neutral. BAKER has found this a handy and popular solution to embarrassing stalls or slamming into stopped cars ahead of you.
For additional information on BAKER’s first product, call us Toll Free at 1-877-640-2004.
RUSS TOM OF DOWNTOWN SEATTLE H-D KILLED IN FREAK HELICOPTOR ACCIDENT–Seattle native Russ Tom was known for his mean Harleys and earned a reputation as an innovative custom-motorcycle designer. His sleek, polished bikes with oversized parts went to customers nationwide.
But Rick Tom, his brother, wants Seattle-area residents to know that the 46-year-old, who died after a helicopter crash Sunday, was a “good Christian.”
He remembered others and raised money for charities, including Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, his brother said.
A day after his Robinson R44 helicopter crashed into Lake Tapps, family and friends mourned the former owner of the Harley-Davidson shops in Tukwila and downtown Seattle.
Witnesses on Sunday said they heard a bang, and the aircraft dropped into the lake. Tom’s passenger, a 37-year-old woman, survived.
Investigators worked Monday to pull the wreckage from the lake so they could determine what caused the crash.
Yesterday, Russ Tom’s friends and former customers streamed into the Tukwila motorcycle shop to pay their respects at a small memorial there. Others phoned and sent e-mails.
“He just helped everybody,” Rick Tom said.
Terry Stallcop, now an owner and general manager of those Harley shops, called him one of the best custom-bike builders in the country. “Everyone is very shocked and sad,” he said.
Born Aug. 18, 1960, Russ Tom entered the motorcycle business at his family’s Seattle home in Rainier Valley.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Puyallup Church of the Nazarene, 1026 Seventh Ave. S.W., Puyallup. The family asks that any donations be made to Seattle Christian Schools, 18301 Military Road S., SeaTac, 98188, or Boyer Children’s Clinic, 1850 Boyer Ave. E., Seattle, 98112.
BIKERNET KICKS OFF BAKER TRANSMISSIONS QUESTION OF THE WEEK–Um, got some Q&A’s back from the guys already. Lol! What do you think?
Q: Where are you guys from, California? Customer Answer: Really, you’re from Michigan?
Q: You guys get your castings from China, right? A: No, Michigan. Fuck you and Fuck China.
Q: Why don’t you guys make a 5 speed in a 4 speed case? I don’t need 6 gears. A: Because you won’t gain anything, and if you ride on the highway, ever, even with a stock motor, you will use all 6 gears.

CYCLE SOURCE LAUNCHES NATIONAL NEWSSTAND DISTRIBUTION–“Grass Roots Motorcycle Publication” arrives at the National news stand. After ten years of publishing an East Coast American motorcycle magazine, The Cycle Source strikes a deal with “Coast To Coast” distribution.
Pittsburgh, PA – September 1st, 2006You may recognize the name Cycle Source Magazine and you may have even picked up a copy at events or shops in the North East over the past decade, but now the fastest growing “Grass Roots Motorcycle Publication” is coming to a neighborhood near you.
After starting a regional, advertising based publication and running it for over eight years in the Tri-State area around Pittsburgh, PA, the staff of Cycle Source took a bold step by offering their publication on news stands in nine states. During the year that they existed in that new arena, the publication continued to refine its content and quality.
In July of 2006, Cycle Source launched its first nationally available issue in national chains covering 48 states & Canada. At 100 pages, this new national American motorcycle magazine has an entirely different approach to the subject matter, the un-extreme! What Cycle Source offers is a unique look into the world of motorcycle culture. I say motorcycle culture because the life-style that surrounds the actual rider of a motorcycle is just as important. More importantly, the material is better served from what they call a “Grass Roots” approach to the subject. The average motorcyclist today is just that, the average man or woman from society. The best way to give them information about the thing they love is to tell a story that they can relate to. That’s what Cycle Source Magazine does.
Cycle Source Magazine is available on national newsstands at the cover price of $3.99 U.S and $4.99 CAN., through subscription at $15.00 a year and can be carried by any motorcycle shop, or motorcycle related business. Your business can get as few as ten Cycle Source Magazines, at no initial charge, to sell in your shop for a profit of 40%. You may also return anything you don’t sell just like any magazine you might already carry.

THE POPE GOES TO ALASKA– The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of Alaska for some sight-seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope-mobilewhen he noticed a huge commotion just at the edge of the woods.
A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a “Save the Whales” hat, and a “To Hell With Bush” T-shirt, was screaming while struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10-foot grizzly.
As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came racing up. One quickly fired a .44 magnum into the bear’s chest. The other two reached up and pulled the bleeding, semi-conscious Democrat from the bear’s grasp. Then using long clubs, the three loggers finished off the bear and two of them threw it’s carcass onto the bed of their truck while the othertenderly placed the injured Democrat in the back seat.
As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. “I give you my blessing for your brave actions!” he told them. “I heard there was a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic environmental activists but now I’ve seen with my own eyes that this is not true.”
As the Pope drove off smiling, one of the loggers asked his buddies: Who was that guy?”
“It was the Pope,” another replied. “He’s in direct contact with God and has access to all wisdom.”
“Well,” the first logger said, “he may have access to all wisdom but he sure doesn’t know anything about bear hunting! By the way, how’s the bait holding up – do we need to go back to Massachusetts and get another one?”

H-D DEALERSHIP TIRE BEEF–Just a note of how another biker gets ripped by Harley! While on my merry and well deserved run to Sturgis this year my rear tire went flat outside of Bloomington, Ill. So I had my scoot towed to Chuck’s H-D for a repair.
Well while waiting for a new tube for the Metzler on the rear of my ride I was contacted by Chuck’s service department and was in formed that due to that fact I had a mismatched set of skins they would not fix my bike!
The only way they would work on my bike was for me to purchase two new H-D tires…. needless to say I was way pissed.
Stranded in Bloomington, ILL on a Saturday.
The owner of Chucks stated that it is H-D corporate policy that no H-D bike will leave a H-D dealership without H-D skins due to liability.
“Any tire, but H-D Dunlops will change the ride characteristics of the bike”
My question to them was, “what happens when you add a passenger or forward controls or any other aftermarket part?” They of course had no answer.
Suffice to say I swallowed their shit just to get back on the road.
After returning home They shipped my old tires home and a qualified mechanic checked the tire for any damage… None found! Seems it was just a tube problem.
So once again H-D has forgotten about choice and freedom… guess I’m not in the right demographic!
Thanks for letting me blow steam since H-D corporate won’t reply.

SCREAMIN’ EAGLE V-ROD NHRA DRAG RACING TEAM HAS TWO RACES TO REGAIN POINTS LEAD–READING, Pa., (Oct. 1, 2006) – Luckily for the Screamin’ Eagle/ Vance & Hines V-Rod Harley-Davidson team, they didn’t spot a ‘fat lady’ singing in their pit area Sunday during the 22nd annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway.
Both of the Screamin’ Eagle riders lost in the early rounds of eliminations but this championship season is far from over. As the season comes to a close with just two events remaining on the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule, the team knows there is still time to make a bid for its third consecutive championship title.
Two-time defending series champion Andrew Hines lost in the first round to teammate GT Tonglet Sunday. Hines turned in a quicker-but-losing 6.999-second pass at 191.67 mph to Tonglet’s winning 7.070 at 188.10. The difference was on the starting line. Tonglet’s reaction time was a .027 compared to Hines’ .131.
Antron Brown and the U.S. Army Suzuki team had second place in the standings prior to the event. Brown won two rounds, losing to Geno Scali and the Performance Machine Suzuki team in the semifinals. The two round wins, however, allowed Brown to pass Hines in the standings. With two events left Brown has a 27-point lead over Hines.
It was the first time in four meetings this season that Tonglet has beat Hines.
“I was relaxed on the V-Rod because it ran so well in qualifying,” Hines said. “I thought we could go out there, make a good pass and get the win light. I just missed a little bit. It’s coming down to crunch time now and luckily we have a really strong bike and we’ve been keeping it near the top of the pack in qualifying.”
Harley-Davidson Racing Manager Anne Paluso said winning rounds became ultra critical the instant Hines lost the opening match.
“We’re now at a very critical part of the season and it’s absolutely necessary for us to win rounds in Las Vegas,” Paluso said. “The championship is on the line and we have to put ourselves in a position to win the title. No one else can do it for us.”
Tonglet lost to Scali in the second round. Tonglet rode his V-Rod to a 7.140 pass at 188.02, falling to Scali’s 7.121 at 188.91.
“We’ve been working on our 60-foot times for a while and we had some great numbers there all weekend,” Tonglet said. “We’ve been making good progress and I’m excited about going to Vegas and seeing if we can’t win a couple of more rounds there.”
Now Hines must focus on what the team needs to do to get the points lead back within the remaining two events of the season.
“I truly believe that our team has the bike to beat,” Hines said. “It is one of the most consistent as far as laying down the best ET’s and that is going to be so important in the last two races of the season. If I can figure out my end of things we should be able to keep up with the championship chase. The bike has been running so well. I just need to work on my consistency as a rider.”
Hines qualified in the No. 2 position with a career-best 6.950 pass at 192.28. It was the ninth time this season Hines qualified in the top three. Tonglet qualified in the No. 15 position with a 7.049 at 189.07.
Karen Stoffer won the event, her first NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle victory of the season. All of the action from Maple Grove Raceway can be seen tonight on ESPN2, starting at 7 p.m. (ET).

BIKERNET BULLSHIT LAWSUIT OF THE WEEK–A beautiful blond tourist who accepted a cop’s offer to hop on his motorcycle – only to burn her leg on its sizzling tailpipe – is suing the city for the mishap.
“The police officer saw a pretty girl and said, ‘Why don’t you get on my bike?'” said the woman’s attorney, Michael Wolin. “But he didn’t tell her the tailpipe was white-hot.”Shana LaPointe, 21, filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleging that she suffered second-degree burns on her right leg when she posed for a photo in Times Square last May.
In the lawsuit, the Phoenix woman says she met the NYPD motorcycle cop while strolling down the street. A pal then snapped a picture of LaPointe on the cop’s bike. But after the snapshot was taken, LaPointe brushed against the hot tailpipe and was “severely and permanently injured,” according to the lawsuit.
Seeking an unspecified amount of money, LaPointe is accusing the city, the NYPD and the unidentified cop of negligence.
A spokeswoman for the city Law Department declined to comment on the lawsuit, and LaPointe did not return calls. But her attorney said the burn left with her with an orange-sized scar above her right ankle and spoiled her first visit to New York.

MAYBE RADICAL MUSLIMS ARE THREATENING TED TURNER–So the news giants are buckling to terrorists pressures. I’m going to jump off this soap box. I want to make a point to report something positive about our efforts every week. It’s a tough struggle, but the Taliban were kicked out of Afganistan. Saddam’s bullshit is over. The people of the region have a chance to build something positive for their future in Iraq. In Iran women are being threatened. They can no longer meet in coffee shops. Satellite dishes have been outlawed and are being confiscated. And we’re the bad guys?
Okay, I’m done. I need to clean up the Salt Shaker and prepare it for the real world. Chris Maida of American Iron is going to publish our Bikernet Independent Noise study and I’m going to focus on publishing my first Chance Hogan book for next year. As I returned from riding new Victorys in Rancho Mirage, I was pissed about the general media while I blasted north of the 10 freeway surrounded by upscale autos, 18-wheelers and off to my left massive container trains scrambled along the tracks. Everywhere I looked people were taking care of business. We may not be perfect, but goddamnit we’re making shit happen and 99 percent is positive. Wait till you read my report on Victory. Test ride one when you have a chance. They’re doing a helluva job.
Ride forever,

BILLY LANE CLEARED IN FIRST NORTH CAROLINA DUI CASE– Custom motorcycle builder and TV personality Billy Lane, appearing Thursday in a North Carolina court, was found not guilty of driving a motorcycle while intoxicated after a three-hour trial before a judge.
Lane had refused to take a Breathalyzer test after being stopped in June. The refusal forced the suspension of his driver’s license, but also left prosecutors without any evidence to present in a Rowan County court.Lane’s attorney, James Davis, called several witnesses who testified that Lane drank only one beer that night in North Carolina.
Lane, however, still faces DUI and “driving with a suspended license causing a death” charges in Brevard County after a Sept. 4 head-on crash on State Road A1A that left a motorcycle rider dead.Because his license was revoked in North Carolina, he had lost his right to drive in Florida at the time of the fatal accident.
“Regardless of the outcome in North Carolina, he was still driving with a suspended license when he got involved in the crash at Brevard County,” said Sgt. Michael Brown of the Florida Highway Patrol.”We have our own case,” Brown said. “The investigators are confident they have a good case against Mr. Lane.”

SUCKER PUNCH SALLY?S RELOCATES MANUFACTURING FACILITY TO ARIZONA–Oct. 06, 2006 (Scottsdale, AZ) Sucker Punch Sally?s announced today it is moving its manufacturing facility to Scottsdale, Arizona in order to better serve customers and fully develop a dealer network. Donny Loos and Jeff Cochran, co-owners of Sucker Punch Sally?s, believe Arizona is the perfect place to set up shop to accomplish their goals. Donny and Jeff picked Scottsdale because it is home to many custom bike builders and manufacturers, has great test-riding weather, and has a trained workforce that will enable Sucker Punch Sally?s to boost their production capabilities. They are hoping to add 6-10 new dealers in the first year and believe that their new manufacturing facility will enable them to do that. Donny and Jeff want to ensure all bikes with the Sucker Punch Sally?s name are of the highest quality possible and still maintain an affordable price, therefore; the co-owners will continue to be involved in every step of the manufacturing process at the new facility.
?We feel like this is the natural progression for us. We have been backed-up on our builds lately and have had to tell customers we won?t be able to get them a bike finished for two to three months. This move is the only logical solution to better serve our customers. Moving our manufacturing facility to Arizona will enable us to deliver our manufactured bikes quicker and also create a dealer network, something we think will help get our bikes out there to a wider audience. We are keeping the custom aspect in Ohio, where Jeff and I can continue to produce one-off bikes that customers are willing to wait a little more time for.? Said Loos.
Sucker Punch Sally?s is built on old school values. Donny and Jeff have always tried to keep their bikes affordable, so regular, working class people can afford them. ?We have never followed any trends in the industry. Our philosophy has always been the same?we want to build cool looking, old school choppers that are affordable. This move will enable us to improve on that philosophy by allowing us to continue to sell bikes at reasonable prices and boost our production at the same time. We will continue to build one-offs and do R&D at the Ohio facility, so essentially nothing is changing as far as that goes, but the Arizona facility will allow us the manpower to build more production bikes and rollers.? Said Cochran. Sucker Punch Sally?s retail and custom shop, located in Miamitown, OH, will continue to be home to Donny and Jeff?s custom creations, as well as parts development and research and development for new models.
You can visit Sucker Punch Sally?s on the Web at www.suckerpunchsallys.com or call them at (513) 353-2803. For dealer inquiries contact Christian Clayton at cclayton12@cox.net or call him at (602)361-3166.

THREE IN THE DESERT–CBS News Anchor Dan Rather, NPR Reporter Cokie Roberts, and aU.S.Marine were hiking through the desert one day when they were captured by Iraqis.
They were tied up, led to the village and brought before the leader. The leader said, “I am familiar with your western custom of granting the condemned a last wish. Before we kill and dismember you, do you have any last requests?”
Dan Rather said, “Well, I’m a Texan, so I’d like one last bowlfulof hot, spicy chili.” The leader nodded to an underling who left andreturned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, “Now I can die content.”
Cokie Roberts said, “I’m a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what’s about to happen.Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job ’til the end.” The leader directed an aide to hand over the taperecorder, and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, “Now I can die happy.”
The leader turned and said, “And now, Mr. U.S.Marine, what is your final wish?” “Kick me in the ass,” said theMarine. “What?” asked the leader. “Will you mock us in your last hour?”
“No, I’m not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass,” insisted the Marine.
So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in theass. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9-mm pistol from inside his cammies, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine, and sprayed the Iraqis with gunfire.
In a flash, the Iraqis were dead or fleeing for their lives. As the Marine was untying Rather and Roberts, they asked him, “Whydidn’t you just shoot them? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass?”
What!” said the Marine, “And have you liberal assholes call ME theaggressor?”

THREE MODELS FROM AMERICAN PERFORMANCE CYCLE–American Performance Cycles was started in 1996 and soon became a well-known manufacturer of high class, affordable custom production bikes that are approved for sale and use in all 50 states. As APC’s reputation for value and quality spread throughout the motorcycle industry, so did the demand for parts to build them. Early on, APC became concerned with all of their venders and their ability to deliver products in a timely manner so they began buying all of their own equipment and got into the manufacturing of all of their own products. This successful business decision has allowed them to control their own destiny and today, they build bikes as fast as needed. Dealers and customers alike never have to wait for product. “Mike Sample Jr. stated, “We got tired of waiting for products from outside sources and now manufacture most of our own parts so that we don’t have to rely on anyone.”
In 1998, APC grew out of their original building located in Bullhead City, AZ and moved to their new ultra modern 50,000 square foot facility in Las Vegas, NV. CEO/President Mike Sample stated, “Our business philosophy is to make the very best custom production bikes that are affordable, rideable and reliable. That’s why we have 5 distinct models that are all reasonably priced, but can be built with a variety of options to suit the most discriminating buyer.” Mike Sample Jr., Vice President of APC added, “Three out of our 5 models are available in 4 different packages, ranging from a 96″ S&S motor all the way to a show quality polished 124″ S&S engine.” There are a total of 5 distinctive models. And four different packages offered from APC. All APC bikes are easily registered insured and are financeable through all major banks and lending institutions. Flooring is now available for those dealers that qualify through GE Capital.

CHOPPER KING BIKER BUILD-OFF REPORT FROM DISCOVERY–We’ve got more shows and are already in production on the first three. BBO is being sent over to TLC, as is all of Discovery’s gear head shows including American Chopper ( I think). The reason we’re slammin’ it is that these six new shows must be delivered by February of 2007. That’s cutting it mighty close. We haven’t had time to write a press release but here’s the line up.
Gard Hollinger vs. Jason Hart
Michael Barragan vs. Chica
Trevelen vs. Paul Cox
Greg Westbury vs. Brian Fuller
Dawn Norikas vs. Scott Webster (Leroy Thompson Motorcycles
James Compton vs. Roland Sands.
Most of the people you know but you’ve probably not heard of James Compton or Michael Barragan. Compton is from a small town in Texas. He’s on the Michael Jordan race team. He built by hand a street worthy dragster called “The Crusher”. It weighs 300 pounds but developed 220 hp at the axle. Roland will have a hard time beating him in a drag off contest for the trophy.
Michael Barragan is from Glendale, CA. He builds post industrial, futuristic ghetto sleds…quite Road Warrior like. The Japanese love him but here we don’t know him yet. Michael is competing against Gard, so that’s perfect.
Bikernet is the first to know the line-up ’cause I just completed it a minute ago.
Still rocking from the image of Valerie astride your salt bike. Now there’s a vision to curl up with.

CUSTOM CHROME REPS ATTEND S&S? TRAINING– LA CROSSE, WI (October 4, 2006) S&S Cycle announces the completion of their first Distributor Product Training Course. This class was conducted at the Dealer Training & Certification Facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin on September 22 & 23, 2006
“Our Team is really fired up about being here – this training equips our sales force with the extra knowledge needed to differentiate ourselves in the market place,” said Steve Veltri, Senior Vice President for Custom Chrome. “We are preparing our team for an exciting new year of selling S&S products. Anybody who’s serious about this business, especially selling S&S products, needs to book their training course. We’ve heard a lot about it, and now after spending a couple of days here we know why it’s a world-class training center. The friendly Midwest hospitality from the S&S staff, along with people in the La Crosse area help make this an excellent experience,” concluded Veltri.
“Over the past several years, S&S has focused on developing alliances and relationships based upon mutual trust and effort,” said Brett Smith, president of S&S Cycle. “CCI’s decision to attend our training, and be the first distributor to have their sales representatives S&S trained and certified, clearly demonstrates their commitment to that same philosophy.”
WILDEST NEWSPAPER REPORT OF THE WEEK–“When Nathan Radlich’s house was burgled, thieves left his TV, his VCR, and even his watch. What they did take was a “generic white cardboard box filled with a grayish-white powder,” at least that’s the way the police described it. A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale police said, (the powder) “looked similar to cocaine, and they probably thought they’d hit the big time.”
“Then Nathan stood in front of the TV cameras and pleaded with the burglars: “Please return the cremated remains of my sister, Gertrude, who died three years ago.”
Well, the next morning, the bullet-riddled corpse of a drug dealer known as Hoochie Pevens was found on Nathan’s doorstep. The cardboard box was there too with about half of Gertrude’s ashes remaining, and this note attached: “Hoochie sold us the bogus blow, so we wasted Him. Sorry we snorted your sister. No hard feelings. Have a nice day.”

CAROLINA HARLEY-DAVIDSON/BUELL JOINS THE HARDBIKES FAMILY–Hermitage, PA October 4, 2006, The Gastonia, NC based Carolina Harley-Davidson Buell adds the premium Hardbikes motorcycle line to their dealership.
From its founding in 1985, Carolina Harley-Davidson Buell has carried only the factory brands. In September of 2006, they decided to add Hardbikes to their stable of motorcycles to fulfill the demands of their clients for custom motorcycles.
“I met Bob Kay, Hardbikes Vice President of Sales and Marketing, through Dave Perewitz at the Texas Motor Speedway, saw the bikes and met the management at the industry motorcycle show in Cincinnati,” said Click Baldwin, Carolina Harley-Davidson Buell Owner. “I liked what I saw and felt that they had what our clients were looking for.”
Female customers of Carolina Harley-Davidson Buell are responding to the Hardbikes program as well. The dealership’s Garage Night is a woman-only evening event that has generated positive feedback from both new and experienced riders. Enthusiasts have expressed satisfaction in being custom fit to Choppers, Bobbers and Prostreet bikes by the time they take delivery instead of purchasing a bike and then having to modify it after the fact.
The Hardbikes program includes customers entering the dealership or logging on to the Hardbikes website and designing their custom motorcycle through a software application called the Design Wizard. After that is completed they sit down with their dealer designer to get fitted for the bike to their physical dimensions an
