Before 2001 when JD Braun began working exclusively on what would become the Shotgun Shock. He accommodated customers at his motorcycle repair shops by installing air shocks on their Harleys for nearly two decades. The thing was; while his customers enjoyed the option to lower their bikes they complained about the lousy ride quality. When an outfit called Legend Shocks came out with a better quality product JD began experimenting with the device. In the process of improving the existing design he came up with a way to distribute air to four valves, two each for compression (to keep the bike from going down too far) and rebound (to keep the bike from bouncing up too far).Continue reading.

Victory Racing’s Matt Smith demonstrated true American performance, reached the finals, and finished second in Pro Stock Motorcycle competition at the NHRA’s Lucas Oil Nationals on July 12 at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago. Racing on his Pro Stock Victory Gunner, Smith qualified fifth-fastest and outran three opponents in Sunday’s elimination rounds to reach the final, where he was edged by a front wheel after getting the jump at the start. Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Factory Team rider Brad Baker stormed to victory on the Indy Mile, his second win of the season in the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines flat track series. Powering his Harley-Davidson XR750 motorcycle out of turn four, Baker executed a textbook draft pass of Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees down the front straight to take the win, his first on a mile track.
