BIKETOBERFEST BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for October 19, 2017

Hey, Itā€™s Biketoberfest Weekend in Daytona. I constantly have discussions with folks about the industry. Some folks are crying and others are jumping up and down. Itā€™s confusing as hell, but more motorcyclists and events are coming on line daily. Maybe thatā€™s good and maybe it cuts the pie in too many directions. There are more builders than ever before. At one time, I knew most of the builders in the world, now I donā€™t. I will start my Las Vegas story next week. I thought Las Vegas kicked ass even after the terrible shooting. I tried to reach out to Jim Betlach, who is working with Shelly Rosemeyer of Daytona Harley on the lot across the street and he ...

Frankie’s 2005 Dyna Rebuild, Part 3 ā€” Final Assembly Underway

Frankie picked up his paint from Chris Morrison and Yvonne Mecalis in Harbor City. We were in the throes of final assembly. The first thing we needed to do before we could begin assembly included installing the wire loom we removed so Doctor John could straighten the frame. We used a compressor to blow a length of cord down the backbone and pull the wire loom forward for the front end. That was an interesting exercise, and we took care and concern not to overdo it and damage any wires. We ran looms along the bottom of the frame to the regulator, the crank position sensor and over the engine to the EFI for the coil and the throttle body, ...

Conspicuity and Safer Riding

Conspicuity has long been touted as a means of making you safer while riding your motorcycle. Along with all the high visibility clothing, like Conspicuityā€™s See-Me and Super See-Me vests, advanced lighting systems for motorcycles have improved safety for motorcyclists. The Federal Government has recognized the importance of preventing motorcycle crashes by allowing modulating headlamps, following Europeā€™s lead. FMVSS 108 (49 CFR Part 571.108 S7.9. 4) allows motorcycle headlight modulation systems in all 50 states. ā€œA headlamp on a motorcycle may be wired to modulate either the upper beam or the lower beam from its maximum intensity to a lesser intensity.ā€ Read more.

The Denier’s Sunday Post for October 15, 2017

Hey, We live is such strange times.Itā€™s like elementary school principles have taken over the academic and governmental world. They want everything to be safe and they want to control everything. They will make up any excuse. With helmet laws they used the public burden issue. It was bullshit. The 5-Ball factory racer is back in the shop thanks for Jay and his family, who hauled it back from Vegas. And now they use the planet as there excuse to control everything that rolls and even your barbecues. And anyone who disagrees is a denier. I know guys in the industry who make cams, who are afraid to say anything. The not-so-funny thing about all of this is the notion ...
