Check this: Today Harley in Milwaukee announced they are temporally closing for the Corona virus. They will be closing all US operations. 2000 workers will be affected until at least the end of the month and possibly longer.

We hope you are well and have been able to gain a comfortable place in this time of confinement. Our thoughts go to the nursing staff among you and all those who are courageously managing the health crisis on the field.
In order to get through these difficult times by following the French government recommendations, we have reorganized the working hours of our team, and have already implemented home office for all since a couple of days ago.

LATEST COVID NEWS–Malaria drug sees promising signs as future coronavirus treatment

A drug originally developed to treat malaria is showing signs that it may also cure infections of the coronavirus, though much more testing is needed.
Researchers and virologists in France have completed a clinical trial studying the effects of hydroxychloroquine, used to treat arthritis, malaria, and other ailments, on patients with COVID-19. Researchers treated a total of 26 coronavirus patients with the drug, including six that were given the antibiotic azithromycin, as well.
The researchers released their findings in a study published on Wednesday. The results showed that all six patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin tested negative for the virus after six days. Of the 20 treated with just hydroxychloroquine, 57.1% tested negative for the coronavirus after six days. Just 12.5% of the control group made up of 16 other patients tested negative.
“Despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin,” the study said.
Didier Raoult, an infectious disease expert from l’Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire in Marseille, led the research team that conducted the study. Gregory Rigano, an adviser to the Stanford University School of Medicine SPARK Translational Research Program, is leading a program based on Raoult’s results to study the effects of hydroxychloroquine on treating COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Anthony Fauci is the leading expert in the United States on infectious diseases and has downplayed the existence of a cure and has said that many drugs are currently being tested that may lessen the severity of the coronavirus. The best medical tool doctors can hope for is a vaccine, which Fauci said is about a year to 18 months away from completion.
Rigano touted the results of the study on Fox News’s Tucker Carlson Tonight on Wednesday, claiming that hydroxychloroquine used with azithromycin is the second 100% cure for a virus ever found. Rigano also called on President Trump to “authorize the use of hydroxychloroquine against coronavirus immediately.”

LIQUI MOLY defies corona: a bonus for every employee instead of short-time work
Managing Director Ernst Prost thanks the workforce for their commitment and expresses confidence
March 2020 – Special times call for special measures. The German oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY is not reacting to the corona crisis with short-time work or layoffs, but is instead paying a bonus of EUR 1,000 to each employee. With this ‘corona consolation’, Managing Director Ernst Prost is thanking all employees for their dedication.
LIQUI MOLY now has almost its entire administration working from home. This move is intended to protect every single employee while keeping production running. The staff accomplished this collective move to home office mode with great commitment and improvisation.
“Today, we have largely been able to ensure in all corporate areas that we are mastering this balancing act between preventive health care and continued work,” Ernst Prost wrote to the workforce. “Now, I can imagine that the current circumstances are not only time-consuming for you, but also involve additional financial expenditure. As a token of our appreciation, allow me to give you an extra EUR 1000 gross with your next salary payment – to a certain extent, as a financial corona consolation!”
While other companies are having to deal with short-time work or are considering making cuts, the LIQUI MOLY boss is setting a counterpoint. “The current developments are not leaving us unaffected either; the economic consequences will be brutal. That is precisely why we must now do our part to solve this crisis with our brains and wits, with commitment and diligence, and definitely with courage and confidence.”
All employees worldwide are receiving the same amount for this bonus – the department manager in Germany as well as the warehouse clerk in South Africa. “In most parts of the world, the economic consequences are more severe, because the social network there is less robust or completely absent,” says Ernst Prost. With his gesture, he wishes to set an example for the LIQUI MOLY family worldwide and also make money available that people may need urgently. “Besides, spending money on the economy is exactly what we need right now to keep jobs.”

EIGHT Tiny Custom Strider Bikes to be auctioned with proceeds supporting the All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Program–Starting today, March 17th at 12pm MST, the first Tiny Strider Custom Bike will hit the auction block. Over the next 8 weeks, each Strider Custom Bike will have one week to be auctioned off.
The Strider Custom Bike Program was developed in partnership with the Flying Piston Benefit, an annual event that invites builders to customize a genuine Strider Bike. This year, all Custom Strider Bike auction proceeds will benefit All Kids Bike, a national movement on a mission to teach kindergartners how to ride a bike and introduce them to their first taste of freedom, adventure, and confidence on two wheels.
Bidding begins at 12pm MST every Tuesday and will end at 12pm MST on Thursday. The highest bidder wins, and all proceeds will directly support learn-to-ride bike programs in schools across the nation.

MORE DOOM AND GLOOM FROM THE FACTORY— This is very concerning, many think bankruptcy is imminent. Gross mismanagement, but we need motorcycle manufacturers to succeed.
These “activist investors” all have the same PR agency. They pretend that their best interests are with the long-term health of the company (and as such, their consumers), but what they really want are short-term gains.
They often hold a significant stake, and without solidified shareholder support, usually destroy companies for their own profit. Evidence, what Elliott Management did to EMC before they were “rescued” by Dell – a once powerhouse in the industry is barely surviving. Same group headed by Paul Singer recently took a large (and noisy) stake in AT&T.

Hard to argue that giving an unproven CEO from off the Board $8.5 mm dollars while dozens of dealerships are closing their doors.
Buzz Ude’s dealerships he sold a year ago both closed their doors last month, didn’t even try to find a buyer.
I would agree it is time for a massive shake-up regardless of PR firm driven or not, H-D’s connection to the market, their dealers, and their new products are abysmal.
The should hire the Indian Mgmt. team.

REMEMBER: EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT IN THE END, IF IT’S NOT ALL RIGHT, IT’S NOT THE END—Okay, so Cruz tools sent me their new Indian tool kit and I will road test it. Indians and all Polaris vehicles chose to use metric fasteners, which means most of my shop tools don’t do the job. That’s one reason to check out their tool kit.
The other is that I want to know what they think I need tools for. I haven’t done much on my 2014 Classic and it’s been golden, but I need to know what to expect. I’ll keep you posted.
The Salt Torpedo body work is out to paint and I’ve been testing and tightening the torpedo, making sure the body fits like a glove and alignment is perfect. I may also adjust the trail slightly. There’s always more to do and inspecting for scrutineering is never ending.
Here’s the plan. In the next couple of months, when a handful of items are finished on the Deadwood headquarters, I’ll blast back with two Panheads and some furniture. I hope to dial in the pad for the rally, but then I need to peel back to the coast to make sure the Torpedo is ready for Bonneville.
Then it’s back to Deadwood for the Rally. Holy shit. I’ll need to roll out of Deadwood just as the rally ends and back to the coast to load up and peel to Wendover, UTAH. Between Sturgis and Bonneville, I have a week and a half.
Fortunately, I have a couple of team members who are helping with the arrangements, but you’ll see reports on Bikernet.
