Would You Ride This One-wheeled Electric Contraption?

It takes a special kind of magic to make an electric one-wheeled motorcycle not terrifying to ride, and Ryno Motors has pulled it off. The microcycle, which has a single 25-inch motorcycle tire and reaches speeds up to 10 mph, uses a combination of gyroscope sensors and accelerometers to balance itself. That, combined with a strategic weight distribution and an intuitive acceleration and braking method, makes this motorized unicycle from the future actually feel… safe. Read More

How Tall Does Your Camera Mount Need to Be?

Here’s a video showing easy installation as well as the differences between the Leader DeluxeCAM “Original” (with a 6-inch height) and DeluxeCAM “Plus” (over 8 inch height). Both DeluxeCAM motorcycle camera mount options feature a base bracket with Ultra-Security and Get the Vibe Out features, and a rod so slim you’ll hardly notice it’s there. 360-degree rotation and TWO ultra-swivels (top and bottom) give you a huge range of positioning and angle-ability. The new “Plus” motorcycle camera mount adds more than 2 inches to the height, PLUS an additional swivel point. There’s very few limitations on where and how you can use this mount to take pictures or video while you ride. All parts are manufactured in the USA from stainless steel and aluminum (which is then chrome plated or anodized with a rich black finish). Advertisement

Disabled Biker To Ride Across England To Raise Funds For Charity

A disabled biker is planning an ambitious charity run on what he claims is the biggest trike in Britain. It has taken Nick Priest seven years to build Grunt, his monster trike that’s powered by a 7-litre Dodge Charger V8. In June, the metal worker and design engineer from Penryn, England plans to ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats to raise money for a disabled biker charity. Mr Priest has suffered for 11 years from fibromyalgia syndrome, a condition which causes debilitating pain and extreme tiredness, and was forced to give up work five years ago after symptoms worsened. “I have mobility issues,” said the 54-year-old. “I also get chronic fatigue. It’s like somebody has switched off the power. Sometimes I haven’t got the energy to even stand up. “And I get terrible pain. Once it felt like I had broken my shoulder. My shoulder wasn’t broken, but the brain told me it was. I also get muscle spasms – the shakes. “On a bad day I’m rocking in pain and I just can’t get up. It just comes and goes.” But he gets comfort from working with metal and designing and building cars, motorbikes and trikes. He is currently working on adapting a motor trike for a friend who has one leg. In June he hopes to ride to Scotland to raise money for the National Association of Bikers with Disabilities (NABD), which provides training and grants advice to disabled riders to get them back on their bikes. Through NABD’s network of national bike clubs and local radio stations, he plans to raise funds through donation and by selling passenger rides on his trike. “I plan to do 50 miles per day,” he said. “As long as I don’t overdo it and take my medication I should be fine.”

Grand National Roadster Show Off To A Bumpy Start

From the Hot Rod Magazine Blog.  One of the contenders at the 2014 Grand National Roadster Show was approaching the viewing area to be judged when his throttle stuck, running over GNRS judging chairman Vic Cunnyngham, resulting in serious injuries. ALWAYS make sure that your throttle linkage is free of hangups and interruptions or this can happen to you. Vic has had X-rays and has no broken bones, and is breathing fine, according to GNRS promoter John Buck. He was airlifted out of the Fairplex as a precaution. Grand National Roadster Show Or Bust

French bike builder ‘Lupo‘ shipped his ’57 Bel Air motorcycle across the big pond last summer and displayed it at the SEMA show in Las Vegas in the fall. He returned to Southern California this week for a quick photo session at the El Mirage lake bed before heading out to Pomona, CA, where he will enter his majestic creation at the Grand National Roadster Show. The show takes place this weekend at the Pomona Fairplex. It’s the most prestigious hot rod show in the world, but it also attracts the best motorcycle builders. Don’t miss it if you’re in So-Cal. You should read our 3-part report on how Lupo built this bike in his home garage. Check out Part I, Part II and Part III.

Road Testing River Road Chaps from Biker’s Choice

Dr. Feng Wears 100 Percent Outer Shell Buffalo Leather on the Job 24/7 By Dr. Feng with photos by Sailor Sherry I am grappling through a long-term product evaluation of River Road brand chaps for Bikernet.com as part of the 5-Ball Racing Team. I feel I’m becoming the “butt” of jokes around the editorial offices. I also seem to hear the clicking of camera shutters behind my back at unexpected times, usually when in the company of Sailor Sherry, the local wharf peasant who is too cute to ignore. First thing I noticed upon receiving the River Road chaps was the seam hems were given the sort of styling treatment that makes them appear slightly worn, a little broken in, something along the lines of pre-washed or pre-stressed denims. Of course River Road builds this model into the line of four variations from the Drifter in distressed brown, to the Rambler in distressed black (these), the Moto with more pockets, and Plain in slick black.
