Preventative Maintenance: Rear Tires

It’s important to know your motorcycle, on the road and off. If something doesn’t seem right, it’s OK to have it looked at.  By Andie Gaskins from Fast Andie Racing. I was riding my street bob through town one afternoon, and it just didn’t feel right. I knew something wasn’t right, but I couldn’t figure it out on my own. Every time I would take this “said route” through town, I encountered two big curves back to back. Once to the right and then immediately to the left. It felt like my bike was going to pull right out from underneath me. CLICK HERE to read! courtesy of Andie’s Garage found in Celebrate Women on Bikernet.

Is Indian Motorcycle Taking A Sizable Bite Out Of Harley-Davidson's Pie

From The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Indian Motorcycles could be taking a little bigger bite out of Harley-Davidson’s market share than you might think, an industry analyst says in a new report. If Indian’s sales remain on track, the brand could soon capture 5% of the super-heavyweight motorcycle division where Harley dominates with a 75% market share, according to Robin Farley with UBS Investment Research. Harley’s super-heavyweight market share is much higher than the 50% range it has of the broader heavyweight category. But the super-heavyweight category, with engines of 1400 cc or higher – is Harley’s sweet spot and the area where it competes with Indian. Going forward, the growth of Indian will likely be a factor in Harley losing market share in the super-heavyweight category, Farley says in her research note to clients. “It is interesting to look at what impact Indian may have on Harley’s share going forward, as Indian does ramp up,” Farley noted. Indian is a division of Polaris Industries, a manufacturer of Victory motorcycles, snowmobiles, and all-terrain vehicles. Polaris redesigned Indians from a clean sheet of paper after numerous attempts by others to revive the historic brand failed. Late last summer, Indian dealerships received their first 2014 Chief bikes that are aimed squarely at competing with Harley-Davidson’s line of touring motorcycles. Advertisement

Lugnut Customs Service Station

Louie’s Blood, Sweat and Tears Super Glide That road called Life often takes some seriously strange twists and turns as Lugnut Customs honcho Louie Isenberg will confirm. Recently he set out to smooth out that road from the past with a bike literally built with blood, sweat and tears…but also plenty of great memories. The bike is a composite of components that once were bolted onto Louie’s many previous choppers as well as pieces donated by friends and family, some no longer with us. In a way, the bike is a reincarnation, in part and spirit, of bikes that took Louie smokin’ tires down several forks in that proverbial road. CLICK HERE to read!

Daytona 2014

Some rides are better than others.  By Edge with photography by Marilyn Stemp The first order of business was to hustle down to the Harley-Davidson Ride-In Show. The show started off with a Monsoon hitting the Harley pavilion in the morning.  Who didn’t care? The Canadians! I guess if you live in the Winter Vortex even gale force winds and rain feels like a relief. That being said, our brethren from the North took most of the top spots. Bob Kay of Biker Pros was the event MC. Biker Pros also produced the trophies for the event; which were Harley-Davidson lids custom painted in the Lowbrow style. Each helmet was unique and were collectible awards prized by the winners. CLICK Here to Read!
