The Endless Highway – Part One

    Lifestyles of the fulltime motorcycle drifters.  By Scooter Tramp Scotty. Of course, such a life requires that the nomadic motorcyclist adopt, refine, and embrace many unorthodox methods. And although these men share similarities such as high mileage, often beat-up, gypsy motorcycles generally packed to beyond capacity with the accommodations of freedom; a willingness to make camp wherever is convenient, and an attitude that allows instant adaptation to changing environments. I’ve noted that, being tenacious individualists, no two of these men use exactly the same methods. In fact, their techniques often vary widely. So it is in these next pages that I’d like to examine the different methods used by these nomadic drifter types. For I’ve known them all many years. CLICK to read

Colorado Super Show

  With 15 judging categories, there was something for everyone.   Winter in Colorado has been tough for bikers, warm sun during the week, cold and wet on the weekends. Those of us who hold down a regular job have been itching to hit the road. A steady job, good wife, and inclement weather has been the ruin of many a good biker. The date for the Colorado Super Show in Colorado Springs was scratched on my calendar. Watching the weather it hadn’t looked too good and I was resolved to take the truck. A few days before the event the weather changed and with the change was a glimmer of hope for sunshine and warm. Waking to the potential of a warm day a smile spread across my face and the outlook for the day started looking up. I grabbed my camera tossed on my cold weather gear (warm is relative) and loaded the Road King for a little trip. CLICK to read

Sturgis Gig Band Search To Award $10,000 and Buffalo Chip Main Stage Performance

Bands interested in being considered to perform at the Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling™ just got the opportunity as the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® has launched its first ever online band submission platform. The platform offers $10,000 in prize money and a grand prize performance slot on the same famous stage that artists Motley Crüe, Zac Brown Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Florida Georgia Line and many others will play on during this year’s August music festival. The new interactive platform, located at www.BigSturgisGig.com, allows fans to explore top up-and-coming bands and vote for and share their favorites. Fans, along with a panel of celebrity musicians and music executives, will help choose one band to receive the prize money and the main stage set at the annual Motorcycle and Music Festival. “Hundreds of talented bands contact the Buffalo Chip each year hoping to land a spot on one of the Chip’s stages,” says Sturgis Buffalo Chip President, Rod Woodruff.  “The Big Sturgis Gig allows these artists to showcase themselves to the world, gain exposure and broaden their fan base. We’re thrilled to foster this community of emerging artists and give one of them the opportunity to perform in front of one of the most unique crowds of their career.” The Big Sturgis Gig winner joins a lineup of more than 25 national touring acts that will fill out the Chip’s nine-day concert lineup during the 2014 festival. The venue often invites guests into its natural outdoor amphitheater to take in stage performances while on their motorcycles. As one of the festival’s hallmarks, revving motorcycle engines often replace more traditional fan applause. Band submission and voting for the Big Sturgis Gig ends June 30, 2014 at 12 a.m MST. A celebrity judging panel will review the 10 top-scoring band submissions after all points are tallied. Judges for the contest include Doobie Brothers guitarist and vocalist, Pat Simmons;

5-Ball Bagger Project Bike — Wrecked Bagger Part 1

    A wreck can lead to a New Beginning.  Sunday, March 23, 2014, a day that will be remembered in Bikernet Baggers history as the day that I decided to total the new to us, 1997 FLHTC bagger. I picked it up from Lifestyle Cycle two months and roughly 3500 miles earlier. It dragged my ass from Bikernet Headquarters to the Bikernet Baggers garage hidden away in the Pacific Northwest. We rode together through rain, sleet, sunshine (yes we get that up here once in awhile) and I was just starting to find her faults and what needed to be fixed. When we picked her up she had 30,000 miles on her and was in great shape for a bike almost old enough to vote. We made some terrific upgrades to her with Samson True Duals, Saddlemen Profile Seat, Primo Rivera LED headlight, LA Chopper bars and Lyndall Racing Brakes in the front. She was really starting to come along. READ MORE!
