The Cult To Turn It Up To 11 At The Chip This Summer

The main stage at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip will take a pounding on Saturday, Aug. 2 when The Cult lets loose before a sea of fans. The band has been described as heavy metal revivalists with a touch of pseudo-mysticism inspired by The Doors, and this heavy-handed beat is guaranteed to bring fans to their feet  “The Cult bombards their fans with a rock beat that strikes a solid chord with Buffalo Chip fans,” says Sturgis Buffalo Chip President, Rod Woodruff. “These guys have built a dedicated following over the years. We’re thrilled they’re going to be part of the party this year.” Concert attendees can expect the same recipe of hard-alternative, heavy-metal and gothic-punk rock the British band has been creating since the release of its first album, “Dreamtime,” in 1984. The Cult’s epic journey through personal tragedies helped the band create music that reaches deep within the soul. Lead singer and founding band member, Ian Astbury, began his career following anarchist punk bands in Liverpool, living in squats and forming musical synapsis that would later lead to the creation of the early Cult hits such as “She Sells Sanctuary” and “Fire Woman” that will charge up fans with their electric live Sturgis Buffalo Chip music and motorcycle festival performance. Guitarist and founding band member, Billy Duffy, was heavily influenced by Manchester’s ‘80s punk rock movement. By the time The Cult released its third album, “Electric” Duffy was leading the band into a metal-blues sound. The eclectic beginnings of these two songwriters gelled and quickly garnered a dedicated following for the band. Passes for the Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling™ may be reserved online at www.BuffaloChip.com or by calling 605-347-9000.

S.O.A. apparently means ‘Sneakers Only, Asshole!’

What the hell is with these television ‘motorcycle club members” riding in them? Warning: if you are squeamish, then you might want to avoid this article! Come on…at 60 I just have a tough time with the whole sneaker thing, in general. What the hell is with these television “motorcycle club members” riding in them? White sneakers, no less. When I got into this whole bike thing it was BOOTS ONLY! We did not wear wingtips, oxfords, sandals, “Flip Flops”, high heels, flats, pumps, Penny Loafers, and certainly NOT sneakers when we rode. We wore manly footwear. And it was NEVER WHITE! Never, ever! CLICK here to read…..
