Coolbeth Wins, Harley-Davidson XR750 Riders Fill the Podium

Harley-Davidson Factory Team rider Brad Baker finished sixth in the AMA Grand National Twins main at Knoxville Raceway. Zanotti Racing/Moroney’s H-D rider Kenny Coolbeth Jr. won the race. Ramspur Winery/Lloyd Bros Motorsports rider Jake Johnson was second, followed by South East H-D/White’s H-D rider Sammy Halbert, as Harley-Davidson XR750 motorcycle riders filled the podium and swept the top six places. “I was feeling really good out there today,” said Baker, the defending AMA Grand National champion who just eight weeks ago suffered multiple fractures to his left arm. “I think we could have been on the box but we were fighting some mechanical gremlins and the bike would just go flat intermittently. Everyone was working hard in the pits but we couldn’t trace it. We’ll come back swinging at the next race.” Harley-Davidson Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees won his heat race on the Rogers Racing/Las Vegas H-D/Blue Springs H-D XR750 motorcycle and was on the pole for the 25-lap main on the Knoxville half-mile. Coolbeth grabbed the point at the start and would lead every lap, opening a gap of more than a second by lap six and eventually winning by 3.198 seconds. In the opening laps Baker, Johnson, Halbert and Mees raced in a tight pack behind Coolbeth, with Johnson finally building a one-second gap on Mees and Halbert by lap 19. Baker ran in fifth place for most of the race, but was passed by Zanotti Racing/Classic H-D rider Steve Bosney on the last lap. Mees finished fourth. Earlier in the afternoon, Halbert won the four-lap Dash for Cash bonus race. The win in Knoxville was the first of the Grand National Twins season for Coolbeth, who leads the series with 80 points. Johnson is second with 72 points, followed by Halbert with 64 points and Mees […]

Bikernet Reviews QuadBoss Ramps

On a mission to road test two ramps from Biker’s Choice.   Aaron Whitney from Biker’s Choice offered a couple of options and we decided to test one against the other. We took delivery of two aluminum-arched ramps from QuadBoss.  We were immediately impressed with the welds, the new wider tangs and the hinges. For the price, we could tell a considerable level of workmanship and time went into each unit. I reached out to QuadBoss for some basic info. First, I went to their web site, but they didn’t list a single motorcycle ramp, no construction information, and just a list of ATV and UTV ramps, part numbers and prices. More On The New Ducati Scrambler

We reported earlier this week about Ducati’s announcement that their much-anticipated new 2015 Scrambler was coming soon. Since then, the internet has done its usual best and worst. Here’s a purported spy shot of the new bike under disguise. You know the drill: manufacturer takes a bike to the streets for testing and tries to disguise it with carboard, duct tape, bubble wrap and tree moss while motorcycle papparazzi go to town. This time, it would appear that Ducati decided to take the piss out of the motorcycle press with their leaf blower and BBQ smoker attachments. Striking, isn’t it?

The Most Interesting Man in the World

Riding lessons, an ATK 650, and a visit to Bikernet Headquarters.  Soon I found out the bike was the beautiful, cool looking ATK GV 650, all black and chrome. It looked like a really expensive motorcycle; I figured he paid around twenty grand for it. Surprisingly, the cool chromed beauty sells for just under seven grand, brand new! It looked like the cool cruiser of my dreams. Little did I know a few months later, I would be learning to ride on the same motorcycle, and also writing a review for Bikernet.com. CLICK to read!
