The Magnificent ARCH Motorcycle, Part 2

Designing the Ultimate High Tech Front End Components. In the first article on the most magnificent ARCH driveline, I mentioned Gard Hollinger’s motorcycle mantra, his two-wheeled mission, once he became the keeper of the ARCH. It’s one thing to build the coolest one-off custom motorcycle on the planet, if that’s even possible, but turn it into a world class production motorcycle, and now you’re talkin’ a whole new level of creative synergy, regulations, management, manufacturing, marketing, you name it. In this chapter, we will discuss only the front end components, including this short list: handling, rake, frame geometry, front fender construction, front brakes, headlight, cowling materials, carbon fiber manufacturing, wiring, electronics, gauges, handlebars, risers, levers, throttle, front axle, axle spacer design, front wheel manufacturing, and what the hell did I forget? 2014 Indian Chief Build Part 2

Aeromach Accessories and a Plasma Cutter Meet the New Chief. We are about to go to paint with Bikernet’s 5-Ball Racing 2014 Indian Chief Classic. We thought we might squeeze in a piece about Paul Aiken’s Aeromach’s components for Indians. “But most of the items will be installed at the detail stage,” said Rich Worley, the boss of American Biker, the Indian dealer in Charleston, SC. The American Biker team was only able to install the Paul Aiken designed, Aeromach footboard lowering brackets, the heal shifter, and oil drain plugs. Starting with the life-saving footboard brackets, they will lower my boards about two inches and extent them out an inch. Read more….

The Harley-Davidson Versus Indian Annual Great Race 2015.

Jindabyne is a town in southeast New South Wales, Australia that overlooks Lake Jindabyne near the Snowy Mountains. Classed, as a service town for the ski resorts Perisher, Thredbo and Charlotte Pass, in summer Lake Jindabyne is a popular sailing, walking and fishing destination. It has also been the base for the past few years for participants in the Great Race, a 23 year old event pitting mates against mates and marques against marques. This year there were 132 entrants, roughly divided between Harley-Davidsons and Indians, with the two camps competing to become the overall winning marque. Very early models competing included Chris Wells riding a 1915 Harley-Davidson and Danny Guest on a 1915 Indian. The event is run over two days and encompasses timed sections, navigational challenges and a rolling race – which is exactly what it sounds, – rolling down hill in neutral, with the engine switched off and the one who rolls the farthest declared the winner. Seeing Red for Metroplex Kustoms at the Dallas IMS Show

The bike is a showcase of the capabilities at Metroplex. There is no rest for the wicked for Crush Alvarado and the crew at Metroplex Kustoms. After spotting it at the Ultimate Builder competition at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show tour (Dallas), Bikernet Baggers naturally had some questions. READ more….

The Only News From the Lost Planet of Bikernet for January 29, 2015

God Bless Our Troops, Especially Our Snipers. Hey, I’m not sure where to start today. I received new 13-inch Progressive 412 shocks the other day for the Mudflap FXR, and I’m itching to install them and go for a ride. I’ll report in. They may be the answer to several questions. I tried hard to slam a swingarm FXR, and discovered little travel and the chain tasting my oil bag, which is sorta disturbing. And our Indian project is about to shift gears twice. First I will run a piece on all the Aeromach goodies for Indians, including lower footboard mounts, next week. And the plan now is for me to ride my own Indian to the SmokeOut 16 in Rockingsands, NC. Then, according to Ray C. Wheeler I should ride it home, which will be a Cross-Country. READ more…
