Scooter Tramp Scotty’s Ride Takes Him To Eden

It was a momentary lull in this never ending journey of campsites, parties, changing scenery, sights, people, adventure, and strange circumstance. A time of good friends, tranquility, and easy living. And so, to my delight, did the wintertime adventures of Eden (at the southern tip of Florida) and the bond that had formed between Steve, Tom, and myself continue… None who lived within the two houses at Eden had jobs at this time and mornings were spent at the coffee pot and breakfast table. Sometimes we chattered on into the afternoon. But a home and property do require chores and it was Tom who helped Steve empty the green swimming pool that I’d deemed “mosquito swamp”. Keep reading!

Harley-Davidson V-Rod Powers Hines To NHRA Countdown Lead

Andrew Hines opened the defense of his NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle title at zMax Dragway with a final-round win at the NHRA Carolina Nationals, the first race in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs. Aboard a Harley-Davidson V-Rod motorcycle, Hines scored his third final-round win of the season. The victory boosts Hines past his teammate Ed Krawiec and into the Countdown points lead. Krawiec, the top seed for the Countdown, lost in the second round on Sunday. “This was a big day to use my V-Rod to capitalize,” said Hines, a four-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion. “I had a chance to move up and take out some of the other top teams. This Pro Stock Motorcycle class is so tight right now that you need to take advantage of every chance you get.” After the first of six rounds in the Countdown playoffs, Hines leads the Pro Stock Motorcycle field with 2,193 points. Krawiec is second with 2,173 points. Krawiec was the top seed for the event in Charlotte, posting a best Elapsed Time of 6.851 seconds in the final round of qualifying on Saturday. Hines qualified third at 6.869 seconds. “I had a V-Rod fast enough to take the number one spot,” said Krawiec. “But in round two my rear tire spun due to the track being greasy. Both Screamin’ Eagle bikes are performing well, and I will bounce back.” Hines advanced with three wins and defeated Matt Smith in the final to claim the 41st event win of his career and his fifth win at the zMax Dragway track. The NHRA Countdown to the Championship continues September 25-27 at the 4th Annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill.

Coolbeth Dominates Flat Track Field at Delaware Speedway

Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Wrecking Crew rider Kenny Coolbeth Jr. dominated the field and a difficult Delaware Speedway race track to score his second win of the season in the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines flat track series. On a night when Coolbeth needed a win to keep his 2015 season championship hopes alive, the veteran racer crushed the competition on a Zanotti Racing Harley-Davidson XR750 motorcycle, winning the Dash for Cash bonus sprint before leading every lap of the 25-lap main. Jake Johnson brought the Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Factory Team XR750 home in third place. “A fast Harley-Davidson and a great Zanotti team put me out front tonight,” said Coolbeth, a three-time AMA Grand National champion who now has 35 career victories. “We gained a lot of ground in the standings tonight. We just have to keep winning races.” Coolbeth earned maxim points at the race dubbed “The Roar on the Shore” and is 20 points behind the series leader, Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees, with two races left on the 2015 schedule. Mees finished eighth at Delmar after being sent to the back-row penalty line when he jumped the start from his front-row qualifying position. Mees lined up next to Bryan Smith, who was just one point behind Mees at the beginning of the evening. Smith was forced to start at the back after switching to a back-up motorcycle and finished in 14th place in the main. Mees, who finished eighth at Delmar, now leads the GNC1 2015 series with 188 points. Smith is second with 181 points, followed by Coolbeth with 168 points. A very narrow racing groove made it difficult to pass on the Delmar half-mile track, and Coolbeth used an outstanding start to grab the lead on the opening

BIKERNET SUPREME BRENT AND KIYO KNUCKLE FEATURE

This bike kicked off nearly 10 years ago. The original chassis and mock up built around a Shovelhead designed by Scott Craig. The bike then slipped into my garage and was worked on periodically over the years to follow. Amazingly I stumbled into Garage company one day. Yoshi, the owner, was offered a 1946 FL Knucklehead engine for a steal. At the time, he had many Knuckleheads, so he was kind enough to pass the deal on to me.   – Read the rest at: http://www.bikernet.com/pages/BIKERNET_SUPREME_BRENT_AND_KIYO_KNUCKLE_FEATURE.aspx

Bikernet Tech — Barnett Scorpion Clutch Install

I experienced clutch slippage while riding home from Sturgis, and when I went to repair it I found that my fiber plates were worn severely, plus the clutch basket ring gear teeth were damaged. I recently spotted the new Barnett Scorpion Clutch Basket on Bikernet. Part No: 321-30-46106 which fits 2007-15 Harley Big Twins and (2006 Dynas). This could fix all my problems. Note: These are the parts I used on my 2009 Harley FLHTC, there are other part numbers for other applications. I have used Barnett products since the late ’60s and early ’70s and have always been satisfied. Following is a step by step install and even though the parts from Barnett come with very good instructions Bikernet Editors always suggest having a Harley Shop Manual handy. Keep reading.
